At least with the out and backs you know how much further you have to go when you get to the turnaround point Also, if I do a circular route I have to do it in a clockwise circle

Mikafan · 22/09/2008 09:12

So, I take it from how quiet this thread has been that no one else has been out running? I've been on holiday for a week in North Wales and did take my trainers with me but never got round to putting them on . Back on the straight and narrow tomorrow though (fingers crossed)

Furball · 22/09/2008 09:14

i'm supposed to go monday, wednesday and fridays, woke up with a sore throat. haven't been since last monday, so thats that plan fallen apart.

Mikafan · 23/09/2008 15:19

Tonight I will be attempting my first 3.5 mile run in 2.5 years - eeekkkk

bramblebooks · 23/09/2008 21:11

yay you lot! wondered how you were getting on! Just getting back into it - usual stuff, work, sick kids, yadda yadda! Climbed Snowdon on Sat though and swam 20 lengths on Sun, so not doing too bad.

SparklyPrincess · 24/09/2008 16:33

Good luck tonight - Mikafan. I nearly got to 3.5 miles...

Been a bit slack lately (usual stuff like you Bramble) but went out on Monday. Just did 20 mins but have had a bit of a dodgy knee so I'm babying it a bit. Planned to go again tonight but every muscle I own is still aching so I'm saving it til tomorrow and I'm going to up it to 25 mins.

Just know its all going to go to hell when the clocks go back...

Mikafan · 25/09/2008 09:51

Bramblehooks, we were in North Wales last week - came back Sunday morning. We took the train up Snowdon as we had 2 DC with us but we definately want to climb it next time.

Didn't manage the 3.5 miles in the end. I've got awful IBS at the moment so went out for a run with stomach pains which just gradually got worse so had to stop. Measured the route later and only managed 1.7 miles which annoyed me as the running part was fine and I could have done the 3.5 miles but my stomach was just hurting too much. Am running tonight when hopefully I will managed the distance.

Mikafan · 25/09/2008 20:37

I did it

Furball · 26/09/2008 10:44

well done mika!

i did a 4km run this morning - was fab, lovely morning for it. I have promised myself I WILL GO 3 TIMES A WEEK

Mikafan · 26/09/2008 11:07

Thats what I plan to do too Furball. Will do the 3.5 miles again tomorrow, do it another couple of times then move up to 4 miles. Do you run in races at all?

SparklyPrincess · 26/09/2008 14:15

I fully intend to go three times a week too, furball

Furball · 26/09/2008 14:26

no mika I don't. just run for me.

bramblebooks · 26/09/2008 18:18

Going for a long walk on the long mynd tomorrow - dodgy shoulder at present, cramping my style a bit.

SparklyPrincess · 26/09/2008 22:49

Oh, I'm jealous bramblebooks - the long mynd is beautiful. Went up there in the snow on Boxing Day 2004 - fantastic.

Almost erases the memory of the geography field trip ... shudder

Mikafan · 29/09/2008 09:58

I managed to run the 3.5 miles again yesterday and it felt relatively easy. Tomorrow I'm upping my distance to 4 miles.

BlessThisMess · 05/10/2008 13:48

Help! Now you're experienced runners, can you tell me what I do about running with a sore throat/cough/cold? It's my 5K next Sunday and I really need this final week's training (I'm only up to Week 6 in the schedule) but have started to feel rough.

Furball · 06/10/2008 21:39

been out for 4km this morning, struggled abit as haven't been for just over a week.

How are you feeling now blessthismess?

BlessThisMess · 06/10/2008 23:16

Actually I'm feeling OK! Have been taking echinacea so maybe that's done the trick.

Furball · 20/10/2008 09:20

bought some cheap running gear in aldi this week if anyone is interested.

I'm still going out 3 times a week - anyone else? (though I do 3 or 4Km rather than 5km)

SparklyPrincess · 20/10/2008 14:07

Getting back into it - impressed with your 3 times a week, furball.

Had a really slack couple of months but knee is on the mend after physio and I'm trying to build up my distance to something reasonable again! Did 15 minutes last week and thought I was going to die, did 20 a few days ago and felt not too bad. Have physio tonight so can't go but will attempt 20 or 25 mins tomorrow. Not even working out the distance at the moment, 20 mins was probably about 2.5 km

Not looking forward to clocks going back

BlessThisMess · 29/10/2008 10:38

So where's everybody gone?

SparklyPrincess · 29/10/2008 16:17

Hiding under the duvet out of the cold ....

BlessThisMess · 29/10/2008 16:20

I wish I was, Sparkly!! How's your knee?

SparklyPrincess · 29/10/2008 20:52

Better thanks BlessthisMess - still being really slack on the running front unfortunately. Must must must get out.

Have been doing my one-legged squats as recommended by my physio though. I can even do them without falling over. The best thing is seeing my two little DDs trying to copy me!

Furball · 29/10/2008 21:00

I've not been this week - I went saturday and meant to go in the evening last night and then tonight, but it's peeing down and too cold for little old me. brrr. school holidays really cock me up as I love going in the morning
