I ran, I got very hot , I have endorphins whizzing round my bod.

I feel good, da da da da daah

I knew that I would da da da da daah

Sparkly - swimming might be a good idea, exercise without too much strain on the ankle.

Furball - love the caveat "if it's dry". Well this side of t'hill it rained stair-rods all blinking day, was the sun beaming on the south side?

Furball · 05/09/2008 18:50

hat tis off to you wooluuffy! It has pee'd down all frigging day so nope I didn't go.

Wheelybug · 05/09/2008 18:57

Hi All ! Remember me thread oldies ?? Glad to see this is still going - well done everyone !!

Well, I have to admit I haven't run for 9 weeks when I got up to my round Richmond Park feat(7.25 miles may I remind you). because I finally got up the duff . 13 weeks today - still keeping everything crossed though so it makes it a tad difficult to run.

Hope everyone's well !

Furball · 05/09/2008 19:17

wow wheely - Congratulations! very good tactic to get out of running, couldn't you just say you didn't want to go anymore

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/09/2008 07:50

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/09/2008 08:33

good luck Mika and toadette. see you all here later with tales of races well run, dd is convinced I am going to9 win the gold medal bless her. I am in the slowest group and I have decided I din't care what my time is as long as I finish. but under 1hr 20mins would be most acceptable.

Furball · 07/09/2008 08:39

so sorry toadette - good luck to you too

toadette · 07/09/2008 10:24

Congratulations, wheely

Feeling a bit nervous too, sockmonster. Waaahhhh!!!

Thanks for good luck messages, all the best to fellow racers today. Go for it!

Will speak to you all later x

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/09/2008 17:34

Yah, I did it, 1hr 11mins which may not be the best time in the world but I a,m rather chuffed with myself. I was about 3500th and there about 7000 runners so about in the middle.
i am very very pleased with myself, hope you guys got on ok.
Think maybe my legs are going to ache in the morning.

Furball · 07/09/2008 18:22

fab stuff sockmonster - you should be very proud

toadette · 07/09/2008 18:22

Well done, sockmonster

Don't have official time for mine yet but think it was around 1 hour 7 mins. Can't wait to chill out tonight with a takeaway and some wine, yayyyyy!!!!

Furball · 07/09/2008 18:25

thesockmonsterofdoom · 07/09/2008 19:19

Furball · 08/09/2008 09:33

been out this morning did 25 mins but don't know how far. Face like a beetroot! but feel OK

Mikafan · 08/09/2008 14:52

I did my race yesterday but don't have a time, it was the Adidas 5k Womens Challenge in Hyde Park and they don't time you and I forgot my stop watch but I did it and didn't have to walk at all so I'm pleased with that. Am also very happy with the goody bag we got at the end which included a medal, t-shirt, full size can of deodrant, 2 cereal bars, 1 bag snacky bits, 7 days of multivitamins, sample size of nivea a pen and some cough sweets? Now have to up my mileage for the Brighton 10k in November - eeeeekkkk

Furball · 08/09/2008 16:06

well done mika - you got yourself abit of a haul there! lol at deodorant

thesockmonsterofdoom · 08/09/2008 16:12

that sounds like some goody bag althoug to be fair all I want is the medal (and the cereal bar) I had a bit of trouble as my dd's found the lucazade sport that was in mine and drank it, didn'tsleep last night.

toadette · 09/09/2008 11:24

Well done, mikafan. That's some variety in the goody bag lol.

The rain is back here with a vengeance but might try to get myself out the door for a 5k (with hills, eek) run tonight.

Mikafan · 09/09/2008 14:46

Me too, 5k but thankfully without the hills

Mikafan · 11/09/2008 09:00

Hi all, Quick straw poll for you - who prefers circular routes and who prefers out and backs? I'm moving up to 3.5 miles this week in preparation for my 10k in 10 weeks time but am finding it hard to make up a circular route in our area (its not very nice and I have to be careful where I can and can't go) so I have worked out a out and back instead but I'm not so keen on doing this - strange but true So come on, do you have a preference?

toadette · 11/09/2008 12:25

I'm definitely a creature of habit and prefer circular routes

SparklyPrincess · 11/09/2008 16:22

I generally prefer circular routes (less easy to give up in the first half!) but it is quite difficult to keep working out routes when I'm increasing distance. I quite often do an out-and-back that's got a bit of a loop on the end - I really don't like the having to stop and turn around bit, very demoralising!

Furball · 11/09/2008 16:41

I do laps of the village, did the same for 5 months, got bored so now go round the other way
