For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Hello
Hope all the small children are better today, LuckyZooey, womblings and Lully's. DD was also up in the night being sick from coughing so much. I had a bad nights sleep, but she always bounds out of bed and is full of energy, don't know how she does it.

Just had a driving lesson. He's very sweet as I ran out of money and he's kind of given me a free lesson today. He thinks I'm an idiot though. He was goign through what would happen at the test, he said 'someone will come out and say hello Boco, my name is John' and I said 'so, will he always be called John?' and he said 'NO you numpty , that was just an example!' Which of course I knew, but then he did eye rolling and head shaking and kept bringing it up. Best not to try and be flippant in these situations.

MamaG · 23/07/2008 11:59

lol boco

womblingalong · 23/07/2008 12:24

Tee Hee Boco, you are norty!

Thanks, my womblets have gone to nursery today, dosed up to eyeballs on calpol Had to be at work today, felt bad leaving them, and DS had to be peeled off me again. I am so not, had a little sob as I drove off to work, just hate leaving them when they are like this.

Whats up with DD? Is it Croup again? I had DD in my bed from 4, asking for milk, banana, a wee etc until I just gave up and got up this morning.

Boco · 23/07/2008 12:27

You must be exhausted wombling! Can you get away early?

No it's asthma now with dd2, she's always been prone to chesty things like croup but since pneumonia it's been pretty much constant so she has steroids now but it's not making a huge amount of difference. I took her to the dr twice last week and they keep just telling me to give the steroids a chance, but breathing things sound so alarming it's hard to know at what point to take her. At least she's alright in herself, just a nasty cough and shallow breathing and a wheeze. Hopefully these inhalers will start to work soon.

womblingalong · 23/07/2008 12:46

Not rwally Boco, have been in late 2 days on the trot now, so have run out of 'flexibility, but have booked tomorrow off, so I can have them at home with me if needs be, or just cacth up if not!

On the sleep front, exhausted is just my natural state now, have not had longer than 4-6 hours broken sleep for 15 months now, I am beyond shattered.

Poor DD, my DH is asthmatic, and it always sounds so awful, listening to them wheeze. Could DD be allergic to something that could be aggravating her breathing. DH is allergic to dustmites, cats (we had 3, only 1 now), Phosphates in washing powders, feathers (no goosedown duvets for me ), pollen, grass, etc etc, and it always makes him wheeze more.

LullyOfShallot · 23/07/2008 13:04

morning lovely ones
Oh wombling you poor thing, how do you function on so little sleep?
I feel very lucky that ds has always been a sleeper.
Can we hurry up with this commune so that we can all take care of each other.

Ds fell asleep in my arms whilst reading stories last night,he slept in the nude from 7.30-7.30 without stirring & today he is a lot cooler, has eaten some melon & peach & is much more like himself.Sleep is a wonderful thing.

I sat up all night worrying of course

Any news of Franny today?

Guadalupe · 23/07/2008 13:15

Yes, just now. She sent a photo and he looks just like ds1! He looks well and plump and lovely in the picture.

I will paste this text

"Have just opened another amazing parcel, can hardly take it in, you have all gone wonderfully mad. Please give love and thanks to veggers xx"

Apparently the nurses are amazed at it

I asked about letters and cards and her dp is bringing post everyday so please send to home rather than the hospital.

LullyOfShallot · 23/07/2008 13:48

Awwwww
I want to see tooooooooooooooooo

How is Franny?

LullyOfShallot · 23/07/2008 13:49

Was that THE parcel?

TooTicky · 23/07/2008 16:10

Oh poor, poor Franny, she must be feeling awful

Wombling, I misread your post as "DH is allergic to dustmites (we had 3, only 1 now)"

We have been to Bristol eye hospital and have got back all tired and sweaty.
Ds2's vision in left eye EXTREMELY BAD, no reflex (whatever that means) so glasses no help at all at this stage.
They are looking at a cataract removal op which involves (look away if delicate) making an incision, removing his lens and replacing with a plastic one.
I feel rather sick about it all.

OB, I waved up St Michael's Hill to you. Covertly, so nobody thought I was a complete loon.

OsmosisBanana · 23/07/2008 16:14

TooT, you're a fool! I am working at the children's hospital now and actually walked past the eye hospital to go for lunch. I could have brought you some vittles.

Weirdly enough I looked in the door today rather than just beetling past as I usually do. I must have felt a vegger astray.

OsmosisBanana · 23/07/2008 16:17

oops, meant to say, that sounds absolutely horrific TooT, how can it be so bad? What was the original appt in Bath for if he still needs that much work? RUH makes me angry. For a number of reasons.

Everything seems to be a bit of a shit storm at the moment, c'mon fess up - who has had an entirely normal few weeks with no nightmarish situations occuring or DC illnesses?

My work colleagues think I am jinxed so much shit has been going on, I think they sit waiting for me in the mornings for the next installment of...'OB's weird and unusual life chaos'

LullyOfShallot · 23/07/2008 16:22

Oh Toot ,poor ds
That's awful

The planets must be in a strange comb or something
I'm not in the least bit superstitious but ds broke my lovely french mirror at the weekend & I thought GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

LullyOfShallot · 23/07/2008 16:23

combo not comb

OsmosisBanana · 23/07/2008 16:26

Ah shucks, was enjoying the image of some planets jumbled in with some stray hairs in an oversize afro comb.

OsmosisBanana · 23/07/2008 16:50

No pute or DH tonight. Hmm or can't decide!

I have another 4 or 5 episodes of Cold Case to watch on On Demand so I guess as that kind of behavious would not be tolerated if he was home!

Hope all the little folk start feeling better soon and the planet comb straightens itself out, or a black hole comes along or summat.

Peeace, love and empathy man.

An exboyfriend used to write that at the bottom of every exam. Freak.

filthymindedvixen · 23/07/2008 17:08

oh TooT, that's ghastly

Sorry for all planetary crapstorms people are in at the mo. (not that I am responsible for the planets or anything )

Boco · 23/07/2008 17:17

Oh dear Toot, that doesn't sound good at all. When will they do the cataract surgery? are you alright with it being done?

FrayedKnot · 23/07/2008 17:19

Hello

TooT that sounds pretty nasty, poor DS2. If he has the cataract op, will it sort things out...I mean will he go back to having proper vision in that eye? When will they decide / do it?

Guad thanks for latest updates from Franny...pleased L looks well, and parcel sounds like i has arrived?

Must go and sort supper, back later.

Am sore throaty tonight, nad haven;t had time to ring dentist

UnderRated · 23/07/2008 17:55

Toot, I was thinking about you this morning - sorry the news wasn't better. Wil the cataract op be a permanent solution?

Am glad Franny had a nice package to open. Hope they are all ok.

What an exhausting night, wombling.

DS has been unusually deightful this morning. Incredibly helpful, polite & thoughtful, ate ALL of his lunch (and mine) then went straight to bed for a nap without any protests at all. We went to the grocery store this morning and just before we left, I said, "Oh, we forgot rice cakes, let's go and look for them." He then let go of my hand, wandered down the aisle to the lady stacking the shelves and said, "Excuse me, where are the rice cakes please?" I had no idea he knew to do that and he did it so nicely [proud] I felt a bit sad that my baby is so grown up and independent.

TigerFeet · 23/07/2008 18:05

Oh TooT, poor ds2 . FWIW FIL had a cataract op recently and hasn't looked back ('scuse pun). Far easier for him to cope with emotionally of course, what with him not being a little boy. Any idea how long you will have to wait for the operation? FIL was in and out in a day.

Hope all the poorly miniveggers are better today.

How is Franny? Will she be allowed to stay with L tonight? Glad to hear he is doing well.

Bbbee · 23/07/2008 18:05

MrsC - thanks again for updates.

you said something a while ago about internet and friends and stuff - i can;t remember exactly but i have thought about it a lot today and i get you.

we are have mexican tortillas and my house smells of cumin.

Bbbee · 23/07/2008 18:06

toot - oh dear - this has had a long progression. I hope this will be a resolution.

Bbbee · 23/07/2008 18:07

(toot - do you do balloon thing?)

UnderRated · 23/07/2008 18:16
