For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

I see that Chas & Dave are playing at Solfest which is bizarre because I was thinking about them at the weekend.

UnderRated · 22/07/2008 19:46

That's early Toot

filthymindedvixen · 22/07/2008 19:59

oh yes, we could an ace festy!!

Guad - It will be my first time at Solfest, but everyone says it is great atmosphere (even if the music line-up is not big names etc) Though I do love dreadzone - they are a fab festy band!

Let's find a place we can all camp next year....

pinkspottywellies · 22/07/2008 20:06

I just dropped in to see if there was any news. Sorry to hear of poorly wee ones

I need to go and do ironing.

TooTicky · 22/07/2008 20:48

Fmv you are a show off

I am eating a bowl of pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and raisins.

More melon and some rather disappointing mango.

filthymindedvixen · 22/07/2008 21:03

I know...I am trying to distract myself from the fact that I have no beans yet, no pumpkins, feck all carrots have come up and bugger all rasps

pinkspottywellies · 22/07/2008 21:06

I planted some runner beans which have only crept up to about 2 foot high but have about half a dozen random beans on And my peas are looking very weak But I think I will have loads of fabby parsnips for the winter

I did some gardening this afternoon. And discovered 4 potatoes.

UnderRated · 22/07/2008 21:15

Ooo, homegrown spuds

Our raspberries are finished now. I'll have a glut of tomnatoes next. I'd much prefer raspberries but hey ho.

Friend dropped her 2 children off for me to watch this afternoon and the 3 yr old has really bad diarrhoea so I've spent all afternoon in the loo with him (at friend not child)

Guadalupe · 22/07/2008 21:30

Right, Franny phoned while I was out and there's good news and bad news. L is feeding much better and seems improved and isn't hooked up to any machines now, they are just giving him the abs via a canular.

They had to decide whether to give him the lumbar puncture or not, the hospital were not happy to leave it in case it was meningitis so instead, they have decided to give him the full ten days as if he did, just to be sure. This means they have to stay in another week and unfortunately, Franny has now become ill and is unlikely to be able to stay with him, she has to go to another ward. They think it might be a kidney infection but unless they can be sure it isn't something contageous she can't stay on the children's ward.

She sounds very calm and resigned but she is scared that this bad start will affect him long term. I did my best to reasure her that it won't affect him and that it can all be made up for when they get home but I don't think I did a very good job. It must be dreadful, if only I could have given her ahug down the phone.

She says thank you to everyone and to Boco and Lully for the parcel. Her dp is hoping to get up there tonight if someone can look after ds. Lets hope the next week flies by.

IdrisTheDragon · 22/07/2008 21:33

Thank you MrsC for the update. Poor Franny, that is horrible for her . Will they be bringing L to her? Is there any way she could be in a private room and so they could be together?

Tatties · 22/07/2008 21:34

Oh no, poor Franny Is there anything we can do to help?

UnderRated · 22/07/2008 21:35

Oh goodness, poor Franny

UnderRated · 22/07/2008 21:36

And thank you MrsC for updating us. I wish I could do something.

Guadalupe · 22/07/2008 21:37

I don't think we can do anything but be supportive. I assume she can't see L unless they know what it is as he is so vulnerable at the moment. If they can diagnose a kidney infection then she could stay but she wasn't sure. It must be very confusing and I doubt she is sleeping well. The staff are being great though so thats something.

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 21:37

Oh No
Oh Guad I cannot believe this is happening to them
Oh the poor things

FrayedKnot · 22/07/2008 21:39

Oh dear that sounds pretty bloody awful MrsC. The poor loves.

I hope it turns out to not be contagious so she can get back to him asap, I mean the staying in hospital is not great but not being able to be with him I should imagine 100x worse

womblingalong · 22/07/2008 21:40

Oh poor Franny, I hope she gets well quickly, and can be with L again soon. She must be so upset. Is she still going to be able to bf?

Please send her my love and lots of healthy vibes. Glad L is doing well.

Tatties · 22/07/2008 21:41

It's just awful that they have to be separated

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 21:41
Sad
Guadalupe · 22/07/2008 21:42

I know, my heart sank when she said things had got worse, it is so unfair. At least he is better in himself, that's really good news and Franny is expressing. Also, the LLL woman was quite helpful though he had already improved by the time she came.

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 21:46

It is so unfair
After all the worry & then managing a home birth & doing so brilliantly
really bloody unfair
Is ds2 ok?

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 21:46

ds1 that is
