For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Oh I worked with an agency once that had a Holly Day and a Wendy House! I am sure they must have done it by deed poll, but don't know for sure.

Rasps, Blueberries, Banana, mixed leeaves, chick peas, Butternut squash, raisins, dates, dried pineapple, peppers prob 5 or 6 altogether.

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 14:58

oh no wombling

womblingalong · 22/07/2008 15:05

Thanks Lully, and to DS, what do you think it is? How are you feeling atm?

filthymindedvixen · 22/07/2008 15:07

wombling, just seen your woe You know what high temps are like, might be right as rain tomorrow...[hopeful]

filthymindedvixen · 22/07/2008 15:09

wombling - with small children, I'd say Larmer Tree, Latitude or Cambrudge Folk. Unless you hate folk of course, though is lots of blues and rtoots too.

I personally love Beautiful Days (and so do my children) but then, we are huge Levellers fans...

I'm off to Solfest in August which has good child-friendly reviews.

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 15:18

I dont know wombling
I felt really awful yesterday, kept almost blacking out ,exhausted & not with it.
Ds woke up boiling hot in the night & came in to bed with me & has deteriorated today. No other symptoms, temp of 104,weepy & drinking gallons.

womblingalong · 22/07/2008 15:18

Thaks FMF, Iam sure they will shake it off, it's just that they so wanted me today, DS cried, and had to be literally peeled off me, and DD just wanted to stay at home with me and do "stories and cuddling please mummy"

PIL are abosolutely fantastic, I just want to be able to be there for them when they are like this.

What sort of music are all these festy's? Cambridge folk is obv! But what about Larmer Tree or Solfest? I guess Beautiful Days is Indie/The Levellers!

womblingalong · 22/07/2008 15:21

Oh Lully,

I just want to gather you and DS up, and bring you here, wrap you in cashmere blankets and look after you.

It sounds so horrible for you, and you seem to have no emotional or practical support either. I just don't know how you cope.

Blacking out sounds appalling. I am not sure you should be on your own so much if you are this unwell (not trying to be bossy, just concerned for you btw)

filthymindedvixen · 22/07/2008 15:25

larmer tree is quite eclectic -
but would mean taking kids out of school for last day of term...

solfest

beautiful days

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 15:27

Oh lovely I'm ok
just get a bit scared when I dont know if symptoms are a normal illness coming on or something worse.I never know what I'm dealing with.

I'm hoping ds hasn'tt got chicken pox on the way as two children at nursery have it.He has sports day/parties at the w/e & his birthday on Thursday

filthymindedvixen · 22/07/2008 15:40

lully, if you ever fancy a break in yorks, you have only to ask....! Though I'm not sure my catering would be up to scratch

womblingalong · 22/07/2008 15:54

Lully,

I am not suprised you are scared. Have you been able to discuss with GP/Consultant etc?

I am sure that DS will be ok, both of my two have exactly the smae symptoms, had DD in my bed from about 2 am, raging temp, drinking pints of milk and water, she is much brighter today, after just wanting to lie down yesterday. DS has now got high temp, sleeping for england, not eating, but wants lots of cuddles. I think it is a mild virus. Will keep fingers crossed for Thursday. What have you got planned?

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 16:12

Thanks fmv

Wombling...I've come up against a brick wall really as the meds I need for one problem I cannot have because of the growths on my liver. Two are very large & worrying & need to be watched in case they rupture (tmi sorry),so have to be carefiul with excessive tiredness, thirst & strange pains.
I need scanning every three months but have completely run out of funds, cannot go privately anymore & NHS are refusing more than one scan a year because it's so costly.
Fed up with battling, phoning, writing letters& having conflicting advice from everyone.
If ds weren't so small & dh were more reliable & I could count on him Then I would feel more at ease with things.

Anyhow
Ds is having a painting pottery party on his birthday with a big picnic at the park next door (hopefully) afterwards. It's his first party so he is incredibly excited

MamaG · 22/07/2008 16:23

oh lully

No practical advice, but am sad for you

DS's birthday party sounds GREAT though

womblingalong · 22/07/2008 16:44

Lully, it just makes me so sad that there is something you need, medically, that cannot be provided, esp as you look after yourself so well. How is it that you can fall down a hole because of cost, it is beyond awful.

DS party sounds so lovely, I am sure he will make it, and the weather on Thursday is forecast to be lovely. Fingers crossed for you both!

DD birthday is coming up in August, we are planning a picnic too, but am still in planning mode.

littlerach · 22/07/2008 16:51

We finally watched Juno

I hummed along, dh ignored me

Manically busy few days, includonh dd2's party this afternoon, which was good.

And....I went ot aqua aerobics last night
My mate and i were the ones at the back who couldn't keep time

No food really yet

Guadalupe · 22/07/2008 17:09

I am quite tempted by solfest now that we have our van

TooTicky · 22/07/2008 18:12

Oh no, poor Lullyboy and small Wombles

And poor MrsC, hope your day is improving drastically.

I think we should have our own festival. A sort of trial for the commune.

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 18:19

Ds is so hot I cant even touch him
think we are in for a ropey night again.

YY to a 10/10 festival

Any more news of franny
Are they coming home tomorrow?

Guadalupe · 22/07/2008 18:24

Poor ds, hope he improves

Franny said she'd try and ring later so I'll keep my phone on me. We are going out for tea now.

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 18:28

Oh good
Have something delicious for me

LullyOfShallot · 22/07/2008 18:28

please give F my love

FrayedKnot · 22/07/2008 18:47

Sorry to hear of poorly Veglets tonight...it's so hot anyway, not a good time to be ill.

DS has been running under the hose pipe this afternoon, as I gave the veggies a good water

Oh to be 4 and be able to ride a bicycle naked round the garden without the neighbours doing this

I have toothache which I think is a filling needing to be redone and we are going on holiday next week so I think I need to go to the dentist before then

Why do these things always happen when you are about to go away

UnderRated · 22/07/2008 19:12

Lully

I am so appalled at how people are treated on the NHS. Or not treated. Some people get so much and others, so little. I suppose it is similar here but it seems unfair that if you have a national health service, you are not necessarily able to have the treatment/ monitoring you need.

I had my blood pressure taken today and have to go back as it was quite high (for me). It was only on the way home I remembered what I had eaten at the weekend. I wonder if it is down to that. Or maybe it was just stress at them being 90 minutes late and telling me I was unreasonable to expect a dr to see me at 9:30 if I had a 9:30 appointment.

FK, will you be able to get an appointment before you go away?

Pottery painting party sounds lovely.

I'm in for the 10/10 fest
