For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

His new phrase is

'Time for some mayhemming'

I wish I knew where this mayhem stuff came from

LullyOfShallot · 20/07/2008 23:10

I got him a huge crate of fab lego too for £7..it's vast

TooTicky · 20/07/2008 23:10

And what does the mayhemming consist of?

LullyOfShallot · 20/07/2008 23:12

Well I guess I should get some sleep
Night night lovely one x

Night night all & night night Franny & little L & hope you are home safe & sound tomorrow x

TooTicky · 20/07/2008 23:13

Ooh, we could do with lego. We never have enough of the vital, argue overable pieces.
We never see lego though, oh no, just dalek hybrid voice changer masks and similar wonders.

TooTicky · 20/07/2008 23:13

Night night Lully.

LullyOfShallot · 20/07/2008 23:13

Oh goodness, poor Franny & co. Hope Lucian is doing better. It's scary being in hospital with a newborn who is not well. The photos of him are fab and her DS1 looks so proud.

Bero, sorry about work situation Sounds very upsetting.

Well done Idris on Race for Life.

I lived in Leeds for a while. Osmosis, everyone fights there. Or at least used to. My friend got arrested for peeing round the back of the Queens Hotel. The policeman sidled up to him and stood either side of him whilst he finished.

MrsC - how is the lemon curd? I am going to make more this week - it seems a jar doesn't last long round here It's very easy, Guad - you should try it.

UnderRated · 21/07/2008 04:29

I wasn't sure if I should mention what I have eaten this weekend but, just because I can't quite believe it, here it is:

Deep Fried Snickers
Deep Fried Twinkie
Deep Fried Oreos
Deep Fried Macaroni Cheese
Deep Fried Jalapeno stuffed with cream cheese
Deep Fried Dough (aka Elephant Ear) w/ sugar and chocolate sauce and caramel sauce and pecans
Cinnamon roll with caramel, apples, pecans and frosting
Cheese Fries
Candyfloss
Lemon Drizzle Cake
Fruit salad

So, um, 1 portion then. 2 if I can count the lemon in the cake.

Gosh, that sounds worse than I thought

UnderRated · 21/07/2008 04:33

Nothing to do with 10/10 but on Friday, DS pointed at the gym and said, "I'm going to go there when I am a lady"

TigerFeet · 21/07/2008 05:39

Morning

Just caught up. Hope Lucian and Franny are OK . Must be scary very frustrating .

DH is from York, I am from the better side of the pennines.

Bero, hope you are OK, I missed your post but you sound sad.

Well done Idris

Off to darkest Hertfordshire for the day - hence the silly o'clock start. The A1 awaits. Sigh.

IdrisTheDragon · 21/07/2008 07:22

Hertfordshire is all right (we live just over the border in Bedfordshire).

DS and DH have set off on their expedition - DS appeared at 5:50 all dressed .

LullyOfShallot · 21/07/2008 07:38

Morning lovelies
checking for news of Franny
Hope they are ok

UR
That list is making me want to dive into the fruit bowl

IdrisTheDragon · 21/07/2008 07:43

I hope Franny and Lucian are all right too

womblingalong · 21/07/2008 08:32

Morning all, hope everyone is well, and enjoying the sunshine.

Sending lov e to Franny, Lucian and the Zooey family.

UR, that is an amazing list of food!

Idris well done on the race for life.

Lully, how are you doing?

Hope everyone else is well

OsmosisBanana · 21/07/2008 09:39

Morning all. UR, that list is quite terrifying. Were you in Glasgow for the weekend?

I have many thing To Do today and someone coming to assess the house for stuff which means I shall have to hang around the house watching the cricket waiting for him. I also have the joys of Tesco's to contend with.

And Mothercare where they seem to only have one member of staff. Potty training starts this week. [grimace]. She's prob too young, but she always tells me when she's up to summat.

Will reward myself with exploring razzy asian supermarket and buying ridiculous quantities of chilli sauce.

An exciting existence n'est pas?

2 months exactly till uni. Hopefully I will only have 3 lectures a week and they will all be on a Wednesday.

OsmosisBanana · 21/07/2008 10:21

I have told DH he has to cook one evening meal a week as I am getting sick of constant cooking.

Seeing as the kitchen is the base of all my magic powers I am reluctant to relinquish control, but it needs to be done.

Baked beans every Friday for the forseeable future then

IdrisTheDragon · 21/07/2008 10:29

How old is your DD OB? DD was 19 months when she decided that she didn't want nappies any more. It was fine.

TooTicky · 21/07/2008 11:14

UR, that is scary food.

OB, I know what you mean about the constant cooking.
BUT if dp cooks for the dcs, it is not always successful. Plus he uses more utensils and doesn't wash up as he goes.

Ds2 has his eye hosp appointment on Weds - they offered us a cancellation. Would've been September otherwise. So, we have to be there for 9.15

I am doing ds1's boot sale jigsaw in an attempt to reclaim the table.

It is really very weird not having Franny around

filthymindedvixen · 21/07/2008 11:18

morning lovely veggers! chickpea and spinach curry with bombay pots and salad and raita for supper. Pankcankes for brekkie And more cherries. And some rasps. I am trying ti summon up enough energy to take boys swimming. To the hellish fun session.

Bbbee · 21/07/2008 12:13

just popping in for news.

filth - did you see me being all stern? are you cross?

i have had some strawberries and grapefruit.

MamaG · 21/07/2008 12:28

Hello all

Just had a Big Salad for lunch in your honour. Not full though [greedy]

filthymindedvixen · 21/07/2008 12:31

oh no, missed sterness, where where??
Oh was it you telling me crap-mother feelings were normal PMT stuff? Oh good.

Mostly I know I am a good mother, but there are just so many issues from ds2's trigger temper, to ds1's immaturity, to the food pickiness, to the fact that I spend too much reading about how to bring up my kids and not enough time doing something about it. worry worry worry. And are their foibles my fault or nature or .... It's never-ending, isn't it?

OsmosisBanana · 21/07/2008 12:32

DD is 19 months Idris, will give it a go.

DH is quite a tidy cook, but he only makes baked beans. Or omelette. I on the other hand could quite easily use every pot in the house to boil some carrots. but... I am the only one who does any cleaning so I'm allowed to be messy.

I have a craving for Tom Yum soup.

I have had 2 cans of diet coke already in a bid to get off my arse, I keep falling asleep on the sofa. Had about 9 hours sleep last night so don't know what's going on there.
