For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

And hello Berolina and FK

Tatties · 20/07/2008 21:07

Hello TooT Your dd2 is brilliant!

FMV I emailed you as this thread kept crashing on me! It is working now, obviously.

Bbbee · 20/07/2008 21:08

oh well done idris.

FMV - all the stuff you were saying about parenting and house being messy and children clingy is TYPICAL PMT THINKING. You have to tell yourself that this is not the time to think about this until you have had a bit of rest and perspective.

Hot bath with nice oil and foot massage.

Okay.

(Bee has an 'Ann' moment)

FrayedKnot · 20/07/2008 21:10

Hi TooT

OB I saw Pan's Labyrinth the other day. I'm not sure whether to tell you I sobbed at the end. But I cry at all sorts of ridiculous things.

TooTicky · 20/07/2008 21:10

Fmv, let's meet up. I'm sure some of mine are more unruly/picky than yours

DS and DH are going to York tomorrow (on a train). They are planning to go to the Railway Museum and go on the Walls. DS is going to take his Age of Steam book on the train .

MamaG · 20/07/2008 21:23

oh I love York

sounds like they'll have a great day - I intend to take DD on teh wall these holidays

filthymindedvixen · 20/07/2008 21:32

are you nearish york then Idris??

TooTs - you know I would, like a shot!

Tatties, I'm avoiding emails tonight - I have been away for 3 days so there will be a gazillion blardy freecycle posts clogging uo my inbox...

filthymindedvixen · 20/07/2008 21:34

mamag - you a northerner too?

how old is/are your child/ren?

IdrisTheDragon · 20/07/2008 21:34

We aren't actually near York at all (in Bedfordshire) but National Express trains take about 2 hours to get there and the cost of a return is less than it costs to get into London from here .

DH and I met at university in York and so we both love it too .

MamaG · 20/07/2008 21:35

Sure am FMV.

Born and raised in Leeds and moved to Cumbria almost 4 years ago (so whislt on the wrong side of the pennines, I am still a northerner )

DD is 9 in 3 weeks (how the hell did THAT happen?)

DS was 4 in March

Baby will be born Oct/Nob

MamaG · 20/07/2008 21:36

that would be Baby born in Oct/Nov, not Nob

IdrisTheDragon · 20/07/2008 21:37

I think MamaG is north-west ish.

Her DD (who has an excellent name ) is about 8 and her DS is 4 I think and will be starting school in September. And she is about 25 weeks pregnant as well.

MamaG · 20/07/2008 21:38

OMG Idris

IdrisTheDragon · 20/07/2008 21:39

I was born in Leeds too

IdrisTheDragon · 20/07/2008 21:40

I just have a good memory for random details. Sadly I still end up forgetting all the really crucial things .

MamaG · 20/07/2008 21:40

Were you? I still love going back to Leeds now

pinkspottywellies · 20/07/2008 21:46

Lots of love to Franny if you speak to her again MrsC. I hope she's feeling ok. I wonder where ds1 and dp are? Either she must be on her own at hosp or ds1 with someone else.

Lully I would feel very sad for that little one too I generally try to think that everyone has their different ways and that as long as it works for them... blah blah blah... odd if we were all the same... blah... but 7 months old, glued to the tv and sugar in formula. I don't understand.

Well done on your fab Race for Life time Idris. Hope you raised loads of cash!!

Right after a very busy weekend and poor dd having 3 rather late nights in a row, and deciding last week that she doesn't have a nap any more I need to go to bed in case she wakes up a)in the night or b) really early.

I'll be thinking of Franny and will check in for news as soon as I can.

Guadalupe · 20/07/2008 21:47

Franny says thanks and she will let us know if anythng major happens. Hope she manages some rest tonight. At least she will get a bed and hopefully no fish paste block for breakfast!

Idris - you know a lot about MamaG!

I have just downed two gin and tonics. dS2 is being a nightmare with this new toddler bed. He screams and shouts at the door but it's not as if I can feed or rock him to sleep either, I've tried, he just will not drop off. He fights it whereas he always settled himself well in his cot. Tis very draining. Though it is a bit helpful when I get broody at all the babies that are around. Two other friends have had theirs recently, also both succesful homebirths, envy envy, and another friend is due in a coupke of weeks. All boys. Funny how that seems to go.

Guadalupe · 20/07/2008 21:49

Pink - her dp is at home with ds. She was just waiting for them to coome and visit when I spoke to her.

Guadalupe · 20/07/2008 21:49

LullyOfShallot · 20/07/2008 21:49

Lololololol at Idris stalking MamaG

Are you a fully paid up member now then?
I think there is some sort of initiation process isn't there folks? [winks]

Guadalupe · 20/07/2008 21:50

LullyOfShallot · 20/07/2008 21:52
