For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Well, it's bean a good day so far....

Hope dd2 has fun Boco I love the planning that goes into things at that age.

TigerFeet · 30/06/2008 13:44

Franny my car windows are currently open about 1 or 2 cms in order to stave off the greenhouse effect inside the car.

Hopefully your cervix is the same

I will open it a further cm every hour if you think it'll help.

FrannyandZooey · 30/06/2008 13:48

TigerFeet yes please and visualise some baboons for me
or something

Guadalupe · 30/06/2008 13:55

Aha, as I shovelled in the flake I have just had the realisation that I may have PMT. That explains a lot.

pinkspottywellies · 30/06/2008 14:00

Nectarine, banana, satsuma, tomato, lettuce, orange juice.

Can labour be brought on with a fright? Like getting rid of hiccups?

BOO!

TigerFeet · 30/06/2008 14:02

Perhaps I could expand the metaphor further and get someone to remove my car stereo from aforementioned open windows?

But only once they are opened 10cm of course.

Boco · 30/06/2008 14:04

I don't know if that metaphor is working really tiger.
That would make the doula some kind of dirty theiving car stereo thief, and not conducive to a pleasant birthing scenario.

TooTicky · 30/06/2008 14:12

Okay, how about removing a small but perfectly formed car?

TigerFeet · 30/06/2008 14:12

Hmm yes Boco you may well be right there

The average car stereo removal expert doesn't generally encourage the car to breathe or tell it that it's doing really well.

My windows don't open particularly smoothly anyway [gives up]

(whispers)

And my car is getting a bit old now. Bits keep falling off it.

Boco · 30/06/2008 14:14

Shit this is going all wrong.

Someone email Franny and tell her she's a strong and beautiful woman before her exhaust pipe falls off.

TigerFeet · 30/06/2008 14:15

You may be on to something there TooT

I will get one of dd's matchbox cars tonight and get her to shove one out of the car window, safely into my capable outstretched hands.

With any luck there will be no bodywork or welding required post delivery.

TooTicky · 30/06/2008 14:16

Have done!

TooTicky · 30/06/2008 14:17
lionheart · 30/06/2008 14:46

I am thinking moonflower, which opens swiftly but in a good way

(and I would do a link but the blimmen computer won't let me cut and paste addresses anymore ...)

and I posted this on the old thread.

Can't really think of you as mechanical, Franny.

UnderRated · 30/06/2008 15:00

Riders on the Corn, yippee! I think this was FK's, wasn't it?

Ex just dropped DS off and he's having a huge meltdown yelling, "I don't want to be here mummy, I want Daddy, noooooo" I don't know what to do I sat with him til he started kicking me then I left him to it. If it were a one off, I wouldn't mind but it is becoming a habit,

How is Franny's DS? Does the baby know that it must arrive tomorrow?

UnderRated · 30/06/2008 15:07

MrsC. hope dr was ok

FrannyandZooey · 30/06/2008 15:15

UR that is horrid for you, really horrid
I don't expect it is any consolation but they often tend to do this to the 'safe' parent that they feel totally loved and secure with
it's actually a compliment to you but hard to deal with

ok my doula is NOT a stereo thief
I should never have started this car window metaphor
dp and I were going down the motorway 2 years ago when the window ALMOST FELL OFF and had to be taped shut by an oily man in a garage
it stayed taped shut until the following summer
this is NOT A GOOD AND CALMING BIRTH THOUGHT

FrannyandZooey · 30/06/2008 15:17

ds seems fine
I suspected partly needing a pyjama day with mummy earlier, actually - seems to have done him the world of good and if as you say TooT the baby is coming soon then it will have been a nice peaceful day for us both
he did seem proper poorly though, funny how these things come and go sometimes
if he was older you would suspect him of malingering but he is too guileless - well too OBVIOUS anyway

OP posts:
Guadalupe · 30/06/2008 16:48

Hope he feels better soon, Franny, and that you have a baby on my return, which is Friday so you haven't got long!

I am off soon and there are still piles of clothes everywhere and dh has gone for the gas and I must be ready on his return.

I will bring you all back some marsh heather.

Bye!

FrannyandZooey · 30/06/2008 16:50

have a lovely time MrsC
I think it will be wonderful, and I will try very hard to have a baby while you are away

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 30/06/2008 16:50

oh ds is FINER than fine
he is rampaging around the house
he would have been absolutely ok to go to gymnastics - too late now of course

OP posts:
Tatties · 30/06/2008 17:04

Have a lovely time MrsC!

Glad ds is perkier now Franny. It has been a pyjama day here too and ds has just woken from a nap. I think he needed it but

FrannyandZooey · 30/06/2008 17:26

someone on another thread is offering tickets to fab children's festival near here on Friday
do you think I should try to go? or is it silly to take the tickets when they could be used by someone else? if I wasn't able to go I would try to pass them on to someone else, but it might be too short notice

ds would love it - it's the one with the fairyland trust people and the mega sandpit, etc

OP posts:
Tatties · 30/06/2008 17:29

Ooh go

TooTicky · 30/06/2008 17:31

Yes, go!
