Cantaloupe, cantaloupe! Will you eat the bad mango? - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Good plan

Yes..we need a bank of rentable non annoying rentable mothers

womblingalong · 18/06/2008 10:36

Oh Mrs C, HoF is great for lovely things in the sale, I got a beautiful Fenn Wright and Manson handpainted pink silk dress there for £40, reduced from almost £300 a couple of years ago. Do you have a TK Maxx near you? I got DD some lovey dressess from there this year Her Nibs and Antik Batik ones, for the same price as one from the supermarket. I think Zara is lovely for girls too.

LullyOfShallot · 18/06/2008 10:37

twicee rentable seemingly

LullyOfShallot · 18/06/2008 10:37

oh geez

LullyOfShallot · 18/06/2008 10:38

Antik Batik in TK maXX?

Guadalupe · 18/06/2008 10:40

yes, there is a TK max somewhere, not sure where though, I've never been to it. I'll have a look about today.

Stuffit - ds1 is 10 and quite tall, yours are much younger aren't they? Thank you for the thought though.

Franny - it was late pregnancy where I felt desperate for a mother figure too. My mother decided that seen as I was so grumpy we should just decide not to speak any more. Great timing, mother.

stuffitllama · 18/06/2008 10:43

i have one older guad but quite short! plus i save his stuff for the 9 yo. I have from sort of age 8 down

stuffitllama · 18/06/2008 10:45

you can rent my mother.. she is great she says

oh i can't remember much about babies
and then cleans the house from top to bottom
then says oh well alright then i'll have a cuddle and a feed and a nappy change, you go to sleep for about ten hours

stuffitllama · 18/06/2008 10:45

dh's mother just says "this is what you do..."

IdrisTheDragon · 18/06/2008 10:49

Hello

I hope Franny is Resting.

My very pregnant SIL is coming round later (due on Saturday). Although I want the baby to be born, I don't actually want it to be born here today.

Ate lots of lovely fruit yesterday. And also vegetables.

This morning DH got up and went to work before the rest of us were awake and had made a yummy strawberry and mango smoothie. He left some for me with a label saying please drink .

DD is having a birthday party I think. She has got out paper plates, paper napkins, party bags, one banana, two satsumas and one apple.

Guadalupe · 18/06/2008 10:52

stuffit - I need your mother

I thought you had little ones for some reason, maybe I assumed that, most people on here have under tens don't they?

Idris - The smoothie sounds delicious

womblingalong · 18/06/2008 10:57

Stuffit,

I need you mother too, joins line after Franny and Lupe.

Alternatively, I can just send Franny my MIL, who is amazing. For 8 months after ds was born she came every Thursday and Saturday afternoon to hep with the children and do my ironing , and then she still has DS one day a week, and is fabby with the DC's. I am very lucky to have her, but I have seen my mum twice since DS was born, and she has never been here to see him, we have to go to her. So it is swings and roundabouts, really.

womblingalong · 18/06/2008 10:59

I can't believe how much I have posted, and I am at work, shhh. Must go and be productive.

Guadalupe · 18/06/2008 11:04

at motherly mothers

I just search out ma larkin types as friends and go round there for soup

LullyOfShallot · 18/06/2008 11:53

How come I ended up with a duff mother & mil?

LullyOfShallot · 18/06/2008 11:54

MrsC you can come here for soup and peach cake is baking

Boco · 18/06/2008 12:10

Lully lully, can you email me your address for the bear suit - and have finally finished your DS's picture too!

Had driving lesson, instructor had to apply emergency breaks on dual carriageway when a lorry pulled out and didn't indicate. Bloody not cut out for this. I swore. A lot.

But then when we pulled up at home, a monkjack deer walked out of the hedge and stared at us. Ahhhh.

TooTicky · 18/06/2008 12:33

Thank you all for being so lovely last night. In the end my instinct slunk back and despite painful neck and all over aches and hotness I took him to bed and we all zonked.
He is cooler today and talking non-stop about Doctor Who so just about back to normal if a little pale and wobbly.

Lully, that is hot!!!!!

FK, thank you for the offer but I think another thermometer might make me paranoid. I have actually only started using the strip thing since hospital. Prior to that, I used my cheek. I should go back to that really.

Fmf, dp reminded me that he can print on canvas - so any font/picture/even photo. Unless you particularly wanted it hand done

Franny, were you tearful towards the end of pg last time? Just before dd1 was born we had kittens and one dierd despite my efforts to nurse it and I cried and cried - think my maternal hormones kicked in early.

Boco, that must have been v. scary. Fairly early in my lessons I found myself driving towards a car coming straight at me ON MY SIDE OF THE ROAD. Miraculously I had the presence of mind to check mirrors and pull out and around. And the road was clear.

Prunes.

TooTicky · 18/06/2008 12:44

FK, you kindly offered me chard seeds - yes please I've never grown chard before.
And unisex clothing would also be useful.....
And there was something I was going to say to you but cannot think what it was

Oh, and if anybody emailed me in the last day, please do it again because outlook express has cleared its inbox

TooTicky · 18/06/2008 12:46

That organisation that m,atches up grandparentless families with grandchildless people - would they be good for motherly types?

Boco · 18/06/2008 12:47

Toot I might be able to send on some clothes, dd is 3 1/2 but quite small though, how big is your dd2? is she still in age 2-3 clothes?

fullmoonfiend · 18/06/2008 12:49

oh TooT! That's quite a possibility! could he give us a guesstimate? It's quite a long song, but if it was going to look too cramped, I could just choose a couple of verses...

TooTicky · 18/06/2008 12:49

Ooh yes please Boco!!! Will pay postage. Yes she is still in 2-3. 18-24m in some trousers as they just seem to fall off her.

IdrisTheDragon · 18/06/2008 12:51

I just had a lovely avocado. Just the right stage - not too hard and not too squishy .

TooTicky · 18/06/2008 12:53

What sort of size? The heat press is about 15" square so to be safe 14" each way would be the max I should think.
He said he'd do you a good price anyway. He has just nipped out, will get details when he comes back.
You could have your actual boat on it.
