Steve died at 10.30 in Jo's arms where he belonged.

I have spoken to her & she asked me to let you all know. Her dear friend Tracey is with her.

God he put up a good fight & I for one feel honored to have known him & his family.

As has been said the time up to the funeral is almost unreal. I somehow managed to hold my DD1s 3rd birthday party in the week after my Dad died. I think it's afterwards when everyone else goes back to get on with their ordinary lives and yours has changed for ever, tht the reality kicks in. I know you need to be strong for the children Jo but make sure you allow yourself time to grieve properly. You have been through a tremendously difficult time and you need to be gentle on yourself. It's good to hear from you on mn this morning.

Miaou · 11/06/2008 12:00

Thinking of you OJ. I am off to start a thread asking for good trifle recipes

lucyellensmum · 11/06/2008 12:10

Trifle it is then , of course now we will be out buying our trifle ingredients en masse, there will be a rush on - should we inform tesco?? Also, we will be looking at other peoples trollies, seeing trifle and thinking, does she or doesn't she - mumsnet .

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/06/2008 12:12

perhaps trifle could be a secret code for recognising a mumsnetter ? Am thinking I may need to try out some trifle in advance...

wannaBe · 11/06/2008 12:30

I bought a fab trifle bowl the other week and have been waiting for chance to try it out. I will make trifle for wednesday and will raise a spoonful to Steve.

Can I ask what time the funeral is? mmaybe we could have a mass trifle raising at a certain time?

ZipadiSuzy · 11/06/2008 12:40

Ooh trifle, looooovely, will be there next Wednesday thinking of you all!

Bless you all!

FromGirders · 11/06/2008 12:51

Thinking of you all, and may peace be with you.

Dotsie · 11/06/2008 13:07

You are all in my thoughts here Jo.
Bless Elliot and the 'fake' Dad that can't nick his sweets
What a lovely boy he is! I hope the girls are coping ok too.
I too will be joining in with the trifle raising in Steve's honour next Wednesday.
Much love to you all.

grouchyoscar · 11/06/2008 13:10

Can I opt for tirimisu as trifle makes me hurl, I'm actually scared of it.

Elliott is a sweet and caring young man

Love and best to all

becaroo · 11/06/2008 13:13

My thoughts are with you and your children x

TimeForMe · 11/06/2008 13:16

Very true LEM There was a snippet in a magazine last week that said the Waitrose baby bum cream is flying off the shelves as mums have realised its a fab moisturiser. I immediately wondered if it was the MN mums who had set the trend I know that i will never eat trifle again without thinking of Steve and OJ.

Flum · 11/06/2008 13:18

Thinking of you and your strength, and your family.

So sorry for your loss OJ, best wishes to you and your DC at this difficult time. Thinking of you all,

CurrantBM · 11/06/2008 13:50

TFM I'm the same, DH bought some "GU" trifles, and I ate it thinking of OJ and Steve. I shall get some for next weeks toast to Steve.

OJ, Elliot is a star

mummylin2495 · 11/06/2008 13:54

Rest in peace, Steve.

Thinking of you, OJ, Elliot, Bethan and Abbey.

yorkiemom · 11/06/2008 14:33

Elliot is an absolute little star, he takes after both you and Steve for such strength.
I hope you and the girls are holding up.

There will be trifle in the York household next Wednesday for sure.

As always you are all in my thoughts and prayers xxxxx
