Steve died at 10.30 in Jo's arms where he belonged.

I have spoken to her & she asked me to let you all know. Her dear friend Tracey is with her.

God he put up a good fight & I for one feel honored to have known him & his family.

Rest in peace Steve, and you have been a total inspiration in your fight.

OJ, we are all thinking of you and your fantastic children. What an amazing and strong family you are. XXX

WanderingTrolley · 11/06/2008 15:38

Haven't been about much this last week, oj, but you have been in my thoughts. Your threads are the first I look for on mn, but I was so sad to hear this news. Of course we all knew it was coming but, as several have said, of course it doesn't ease the shock and the sadness and the grief.

Your life will be a whirlwind for about a week and then all will suddenly become still. Everything has revolved around Steve's care for so long. Log on to mn. We can set up a midnight trifle and rum club for the mners who post late at night, and when your pals have gone home to bed.

How did you decide on clothes for Steve? You know you can put cards and messages and letters and photos in with him too and a trifle spoon in his pocket. (My father was buried with a miniature of whiskey.)

Thinking of you all, so so sorry that Steve is gone. Much love to you, Elliot, Abbey and Bethan.

xx

The sales of trifle will soar across the land and beyond!

Take care - love to you all xxx

WenchConnection · 11/06/2008 17:21

OJ love to you and all the family. I know you will be strong.

This was played at my grandfathers funeral this week, at his prior request, and raised a smile at a much needed time. I hope it will for you, I know you have had a lot of humour amongst your grief.

Wish me luck, as you wave me goodbye.
Cheerio, here I go,on my way.

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye.
With a cheer, not a tear, make it gay.

Give me a smile,I can keep for a while,
In my heart while I'm away.

Till we meet once again you and I,
Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye.

Wish me luck, as you wave me goodbye.
Cheerio, here I go, on my way

Wish me luck, as you wave me goodbye.
With a cheer, not a tear, make it gay

Give me a smile, I can keep for a while,
In my heart while I'm away.
Till we meet once again You and I
wish me luck as you wave me goodbye.

Sleep tight Steve, you were an amazing man.

Izabella · 11/06/2008 19:55

What an amazing & sensitive son you have there Jo. It is lovely that he has chosen this picture to be a focal point of him memories and on-going relationship with his dad.

I will go out & buy the yummiest trifle I can find & share it with H on Wednesday. What a wonderful tribute, I hope you do bring the trifle and spoon to the service .

Hun, am thinking of you as always. Sending you and the kids much love. X

bossybritches · 11/06/2008 20:07

My thoughts are with you OJ and your beautiful children xx

onlyjoking9329 · 11/06/2008 21:17

steve would be so impressed to know that all this trifle eating was going on.
we are doing ok, i had to take the clothes up for steve to be dressed in today, my mate tracey ironed them for me.
i got a bit tearful over if to take him a jumper to stop him being cold.
had a phone call tonight from the girls old teacher from 5 years ago as she had heard about steve it was lovely to talk to her.
i went into the kids school today for a while it went ok but lots of tearful moments.
the kids have been ok today, we talked about flowers and what sort dad would like, elliot was keen on red and the girls wanted white.
had a message from mike asking about the funeral and he said we would never talk again afterwards, they don't know about the funeral yet cos i know they will kick off about something or other.

RubySlippers · 11/06/2008 21:19

OJ ... lots of trifle eating for your lovely Steve

lots of love to you all

xxxxx

billysitch · 11/06/2008 21:23

We are all full of trifle here!

RIP Steve, our love to you OJ and your fantastic kids. xx

chocaholic73 · 11/06/2008 21:26

It will be so many ups and downs but you are being well supported and it's lovely when you hear from people like the girls' teacher. Can't believe Mike's comment but just know you are above all that and you'll never have to see them again after next week. I'm sure your friends will make sure you have lots of support on the day. Forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn here and not sure what sort of funeral you are having but maybe it would be a good idea to make sure the person officiating is aware of the difficulties.

whoopsididitagain · 11/06/2008 21:26
