Steve died at 10.30 in Jo's arms where he belonged.

I have spoken to her & she asked me to let you all know. Her dear friend Tracey is with her.

God he put up a good fight & I for one feel honored to have known him & his family.

I've been thinking about you ever since i opened my computor earlier and read the sad news. I had a sneaky beer on the beach today, the pub is soo very tempting on a hot day. We usually resist, but today i had a pint for Steve. OJ i hope that is OK. He will be at peace now and as others have said, you were there right until the end, your love must have been a great comfort to him.

I do tend to waffle, i know that words can't possibly help but just know that we are all thinking of you.

bossybritches · 09/06/2008 19:51

LEM raising a glass in his memory here in Lincolnshire too

I'm so sorry for your loss.

ShinyPinkShoes · 09/06/2008 19:59

I have been trying to add a post to this thread for the last hour but the words just don't seem to be coming to me today so I'm sorry if this seems a rambling mess

Steve's story was so similar to that of my lovely Dad; it'll be 11 years on Weds since he died of this same evil THING that has taken Steve. As a result you have all been in my thoughts and prayers for many weeks now.

Jo, I just badly want you to know that you gave Steve the best he possibly could have had. He could not possibly have wanted for anyone lovelier than you. He could not have possibly been more loved and well cared for.

You have been his voice when the odds were stacked against you. You have been his protector as well as a best friend, loving wife and wonderful Mum.

We, (and no doubt he) are incredibly proud of you. You could not have done more.

It's time now to let others take care of you and be there for you.

Much love xxx

dinny · 09/06/2008 20:03

OhNooo · 09/06/2008 20:09

Jo, I'm so sorry to hear of your sad news. You were so brave even to the end. May Steve rest in peace.
Both you and Steve have been a great example of what love should be like in a relationship. I admire you. May you, Bethan, Elliot and Abbey have the strenght to get throught the next few weeks.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

janeite · 09/06/2008 20:09

Wishing you and your children lots of strength for the days to come.
I'm sure you will know from people like me that you have so much support and you are in our thoughts. With love. DC.xx

Rest in Peace Steve x

I am so sorry for your loss OJ, and that of your children, I only hope it is of some small comfort that you were together until the end, and now Steve can at last rest.

Take care of yourself, and your children, my thoughts are with you at this sad time x

ChirpyGirl · 09/06/2008 20:21

Rest in peace, steve x

He loved you and the girls so much to hold on that extra time for you all, hold that thought in your heart to help you through this.

Weegiemum · 09/06/2008 20:23

I already posted, but wanted to add that I spoke to dh ( rural GP who does a lot of terminal care) and he said this is the kind of "good death' that all those involved are glad and priviledged to be part of, that there are few demonstrating the love you shared, that if there is such a thin as a "good death" then that is what Steve had.

Our hearts break for you all tonight. We wish Steve every good wish on his journey beyond what we know on this earth. Our prayers are with you all - and that includes our children aged 4,6 and 8, who prayed for your dc tonight "without their lovely daddy".

we cannot stop thinking of you. all peace and love to you
