Steve died at 10.30 in Jo's arms where he belonged.

I have spoken to her & she asked me to let you all know. Her dear friend Tracey is with her.

God he put up a good fight & I for one feel honored to have known him & his family.

I am so sorry for your loss OJ. Steve's strength and determination have been an inspiration to us all, yours also. I can only hope that the hurt will pass and memories will make you smile, instead of weep. One day at a time, the pain will recede and the love that you had for each other with always continue in your hearts. God bless you all. RIP Steve. xx

OJ, you have supported me with your wisdom in the past. I have no wisdom in return today. I wish you strength for the coming weeks and hope that your good memories are as fresh as a daisy when you choose to unpack them.

Jo I'm so sorry, but pleased that you were together until the very end, just as you'd both wanted.

You will always be together, now in your hearts, memories and dreams.

Rest in peace Steve, an amazing husband, father and best friend to all of you. xxxx

I can only add my thoughts and prayers to the many others. I hope that, in time, you will see the number of people that have been touched deeply by your love story.

Rest in Peace Steve x

moodlumthehoodlum · 09/06/2008 19:32

OJ, we're all thinking of you so much. I know that even when someone is terminally ill, the death is still so unexpected. I hope that sometime you find peace in the knowledge that you gave him dignity, love and peace in his last days.

xx

Litchick · 09/06/2008 19:47

Just got back from a conference and the first thing I did was check for you and Steve, OJ.
I am so sorry to hear he's gone but I knew he wouldn't go on the girls' birthday - I just knew it. Men like Steve never let anyone down and even at the end he was a shining example to Dads everywhere.

brucelovesfrumpygrumpy · 09/06/2008 19:48

OJ you (we) knew it would come but nothing every truly prepares you (us) for when it actually arrives. A shock still. It will likely have been a strange and busy day for you. Surreal. Thinking of you and sending love from Edinburgh xxxxxx.

roomforthree · 09/06/2008 19:48

You are all in my thoughts at this most difficult time.

You have borne what no partner should, with courage and dignity, and I feel privileged that you have shared Steve's story.

Your unceasing love and dedication to him and your children is an example to us all.

May you rest in peace, Steve. Thank you for touching my life.
