.... Are you sending a subliminal message? If so, what's the message and who's it aimed at?

Thread is inspired by the recent sight of a young woman with a huge trout pout, her lips were so puffed up she couldn't talk normally.

Why do people do this?

These are mine last time I had them done. I would argue you would not know I had had filler, ever.

Sorry but you can absolutely tell. It’s not so much in the lips as the area around them

Senso · 29/10/2025 19:35

@Cornflakegirl7 they do look good though so please don’t be offended by my post

joanofaardvark · 29/10/2025 19:37

I send several subliminal messages:

  1. Mind your own fucking business
  2. Do you judge everyone by how they look? Or only women? Why is that?
  3. I couldn’t give a shit what other people think.

HTH

Laveritas · 29/10/2025 20:12

I would worry less about subliminal messages and more about my own level of intelligence if I couldn’t grasp the reality that yes, some people just do things because they want to and because they like how it looks.
All the faux ‘but I don’t get it’ really is very boring.

Behave yourself. It's not sneery. Jog on If you have no answer

I’m perfectly entitled to be here telling you your post was sneery.

I’ll bite OP. It’s because the overinflated lips look like labia and therefore sends the subliminal signal that they are sexually attractive.

do I win?

Yep

What a weird question...

I have a bit of lip filler because my top lip is nonexistent without it. It looks totally natural and not excessive at all.

Overfilled lips are a stylistic choice amongst a certain demographic of women. I think it's a status symbol sort of thing, same with hair extensions and eyelashes. It shows you can afford the high maintenance look, I think. It's meant to be obviously fake.

Edited

Not a weird question at all! They do look indeed look strange. And you've given good reason why those women do it.

My best friend has hers done at the same time as we both have our Botox together. I’ve just asked her and she said it’s a subliminal message at nosy, judgemental people on Mumsnet who struggle to hide their unwarranted superiority complex.

So what's the subliminal message when teenage boys have their jeans hanging around under their bum showing their Y-fronts? Don't you ever wonder?

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 29/10/2025 13:13

I heard two blokes talking about a woman who was very cosmically 'enhanced'... quite botched looking fillers / massive boobs etc...

They were laughing that any woman who would do that to themselves would let a man do anything they wanted and treat them anyway they wanted.

It made me very uncomfortable.

yes, I'd feel the same.

forgivingfiggy · 29/10/2025 23:51

Thanks for this thread. I have no tweakments or enhancements and other women having it done DOES make me angry. I can’t work out why that’s the emotion - after all, the option is open to most in this part of the world, including myself. But yes, I’m irritated by it.

It is always, always noticeable.

I beg to differ. Ive had more than one guy congratulate me for never having had anything done to my face and how much they love my mouth. My lips look completely and utterly natural. For every woman you ‘always always notice’ there’ll be another that you didn’t notice at all.

The clue is in that it’s guys who congratulate you . Most men don’t notice subtle tweaks

notnorman · 30/10/2025 03:14

It’s for the male gaze at the end of the day

Minimili · 30/10/2025 04:03

Just out of curiosity…

Are my filled lips “noticeable?” So far no one has ever mentioned it, even when filler has been discussed.

hotpot444 · 30/10/2025 04:12

Always wanted a top lip to be same size at bottom and filler allows this. I haven’t done it for a few years though (money, time and don’t care anymore as much). I’m not into the fake duck lips but it’s not my business if someone enjoys it.

No, I would never be able to tell nor @Cornflakegirl7. To me both your lips look normal and natural and don't scream lip filler. They look subtle and good. I'm afraid I can't help side eyeing obviously inflated lips, male or female but it's their faces not mine. I'm tempted to get a little subtle filler in my top lip.

namechanged221 · 30/10/2025 06:15

I think you can tell on both the pictures
It's to do with the shape of the upper liip

It does look nice, but I can see that it's filler as it has that particular and distinct shape

But top lips are not supposed to be the same size at bottom lips?

I think this is when it becomes really obvious that it's filler, as that doesn't normally occur, apart from on a blow up sex doll or porn-AI

Who says top lips are not supposed to be same size as bottom lips? Did someone decide?

hello55589 · 30/10/2025 06:44

@Sensoive also had female work colleagues , new friends etc say that they had no idea id had my lips done. I can assure you they look completely natural, like the lady in the picture posted below this comment. So no. You cannot ‘always always’ notice.

Not very noticeable front on.

If you turned your head side profile i think you would. Filled lips, and the area around them, tend to stick out, instead of looking full and soft.
