For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I don't know how that works, Franny, I just know I used to be thinnner and and I used to eat a lot less, never breakfast and lunch really, so maybe less calories overall?

I drank coffe and smoked and was more anxious then though, but I am keep to avoid an extra 30 pounds.

oh fuck it

berolina · 27/05/2008 10:55

I am a breakfast evangelist, and quite slim. dh is a bad breakfaster and very slightly overweight. QED

apple x 2, bnana, OJ, carrot, pumpkin-seed bread

lazarou · 27/05/2008 11:00

I'm doing a course with the ou at the mo called understanding human nutrition. It's very enlightening. An awful lot of people are doing it because they want to lose weight. Some are doing it so they can feed their children a better diet. You can also calculate what you eat in a day and see how it matches up to what you should be eating.
Am tempted to ask some of them if they are mn'ers.

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:02

oh that sounds very cool lazarou
FMF just did a fab course on nutrition but all i did was argue with her about it

dp has rung council and they say BOIL WASH it
am vindicated

hello veggers from the House of Copious Vomit. Even the fucking cat was sick this weekend.

Poor dd. And poor dd's Snow White doll who bore the brunt of her chundering. The poor thing will never be the same again (the doll, not dd who is now fine).

Franny I am struggling to find the maternity clothes. DH has Put Them Away Somewhere Safe. I am going to check the attic tonight as apparently they are in the bags piled up in the corner or something. Anyway, sorry . You may see them before the baby arrives, you may not

I have tried to console myself with mangoes but I had three and every one of them was cunting. We were having such a good run recently as well

Off to read the old thread, I have catching up to do

Enjoy your coffee MrsC

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:14

oh Tiger Feet please don't worry
I just bought another skirt on eBay and it really sounds like you have got enough to be going on with

have also great sympathy for your mango troubles

LOL at avi "is that SK183". You OU nerd you.

erm very sorry for everyone who has been ill lately. Can I be pompous and do a brief reminder we have emetophobic 10 / 10 ers (fear of vomiting) so try to keep mentions brief and non-colourful

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 27/05/2008 11:14

oh dear, Tigerffet, that sounds stressful. I will never forget when ds1 was ill over the side of his cabin bed and his entire possesions were all over the floor.

Lazarou - that does sound interesting.

Franny - boil wash? and did you really argue with FMV about it. Tell us more!

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:16

oh well I just have a thing about protein
I bickered pointlessly

I am not going to boil wash anything. If 40 deg is good enough for pooey nappies I reckon 60 will sort out a few mice

have just seen ad for miltons which says it kills everything
maybe you can bung it in the washing machine?

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 27/05/2008 11:16

oh sorry, Franny, x posts!

MrsCarrot · 27/05/2008 11:17

you like or don't like protein? Actually I remember, we don't need as much as people say is that right?

I think 60 will be fine.

TigerFeet · 27/05/2008 11:18

Oh god I'm sorry - I am not emetophobic and in my blinkered world I forget that others are.

I will get the post deleted if it helps?

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:18

LOL I feel rotten to mention it as the last thing anyone needs when family are ill is me ticking them off

but we do tend to talk about sickness a LOT and I think it is easier for people if we just keep it brief and non-descriptive

(so says the Queen of TMI )
hey I have not mentioned my bowels for ages! I took a hint after the breakaway thread. Poor dp is getting the brunt of it now

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:21

no Tiger don't worry I think a deleted post is worse as you can only imagine what it said

you can't think of never mentioning anything that someone might be bothered by
I mean we would be stuck on most invertebrates plus all birds for a start

yes we don't need as much as we think we do
I am disciple of the protein man
I think the meat and dairy industries like to get our knickers in a twist over protein

OP posts:
lazarou · 27/05/2008 11:22

Yes, SK183. I'm doing it as part of a life sciences degree. I know I need to improve my diet. While I was typing the other post I was shovelling pringles in!

TooTicky · 27/05/2008 11:25

Franny, do keep us updated on your bowels otherwise we have gaps on our Franny's Bowels chart.

I like pert apricots - adore them - but they can be very disappointing if woolly.

Bero - I am heavily involved in community bus. Oh, the most amusing thing is that I spent at least an hour trying to sort things out last night, delaying my dinner which, after a day of meagre dry bread and oatcakes, I was rather looking forward to.... the trip was cancelled, so it was all quite unnecessary

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:29

LOL TooT I would really love to give you a daily bulletin. No, seriously, I would....oh. You knew I was not joking

Don't worry, Tigerfeet, I am a rather pathetic person an emetophobe and I've read a lot lot worse! And thanks, Franny, for sticking up for us! Hope you all recover soon. Hello everyone else. Been lurking- sorry to hear of the bad times people have been having.
Having had very little fruit or veg for a long time, it's time to get going again, I think.
Apple, banana, raisins, pear.

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:29

I am also worried about Cyteen's bowels. That description has haunted me somewhat. She has a very memorable turn of phrase, don't you think?

OP posts:
SauerKraut · 27/05/2008 11:30

Bugger- rather pathetic person was meant to be crossed out- don't think I've mastered that yet

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:30

SK quite right, it's time to stop lurking and join us again

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 11:31

you have to do every single word I'm afraid
why I use CAPS instead of italics mostly

Mind you, I could have been here all the time, really, just at the very bottom of the pit!
