For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny? Fra, answer the nice ladies question.

I have to go and um, do, some um, things. Franny will know.

lazarou · 27/05/2008 17:15

Is armpits a code word for something else?

TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:15
TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:16

No, it's not code.

TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:17
TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:18

I knew I shouldn't have mentioned it

ahundredtimes · 27/05/2008 17:19

I don't really understand the question [big sigh].

Do you not use a deodorant?

TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:19

Oh god, yes I do and I wash and everything, many times a day, and change clothes

lazarou · 27/05/2008 17:20

Hmm, you can buy some scary chemical roll on that stops you sweating. That may work. Not sure of the name.

TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:21

Actual anti-perspirants are bad news though, aren't they. And probably full of aluminium

lazarou · 27/05/2008 17:23

It's not just a normal anti-perspirant. It actually stops the sweat completely. It must block the hair follicles. The chemist will know what you mean if you ask for it. You can buy similar for sweaty feet too.

TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:28

Hmm, I don't want to stop the sweat as such, just the smell.

ahundredtimes · 27/05/2008 17:28

Soooo TooT is it fair to say that you do not actually use an anti-p which is like off the shelves from Boots kind of thing?

This may well account for whiffiness.

lazarou · 27/05/2008 17:30

Well, it's the sweat that smells. Do you shave your armpits?

FrayedKnot · 27/05/2008 17:31

Could you boil wash your armpits TooT

I have similar problems at certain times of the month. I just wash a lot. Clothes and armpits. And deodorant. Although once I used the Tisserand Rosemary one and I was in a meeting and someone said "Where is that smell of rosemary coming from!!" in a rather aggressive way.

Well, better than saying "where is that smell of BO coming from" I suppose but have since changed the one I use.

Franny we started locking things away when DS was 8 months old. It was that or me have a heart attack on a half hourly basis. We were able to de-lock things about a year ago.

He is fairly sensible now but craft stuff is ina cupboard about 10 ft off the ground.

Lazarou, I do yoga, it's great

lazarou · 27/05/2008 17:34

Fk, I have just texted my friend to see if she will come to yoga. She say yes! She also invited me to belly dancing at the polish club. I asked her if she wanted to try pole-da-cise, but she blanked me. That'll be a no then.
Actually someone on facebook posted a video of herself doing a pole dancing routine. Don't think I'll be going to see her in a hurry.

TooTicky · 27/05/2008 17:50

LOTS of people don't use chemical anti-perspirants. Point is, I should be able go go more than an hour without starting to smell lots.

SauerKraut · 27/05/2008 17:56

Hey, Toot, don't cry Drink plenty, not too many spices/onions etc, and you can try using a natural antiseptic soap when you shower. Apparently, rinsing with lavender oil works too, or sandalwood. And no armpit hair.

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 18:02

TooT a lot of people smell if they don't use a strong deodorant or anti-perspirant
which ones have you tried? I have been through LOADS of the non-aluminium ones and the only one which currently works for me is Bionsen, which I don't think is incredibly natural but has got no aluminium in
before that I had an Urtekram one which worked for a while but I find the effectiveness wears off after I have been using for a bit - don't know how that can be but there you go
lots of people say Pit Rok is the business but it didn't work for me

agree with avoiding spiciness etc

p.s. when we met you, you did not smell

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 27/05/2008 18:04

hmm, not sure I like the idea of pol-da-cize

Toot - I don't really use deodorants but then I don't really sweat, if I did then I would. You can get ones without aluminion.

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 18:04

LOL at 'where IS that smell of rosemary coming from?"
I used to use vanilla as a natural type perfume until my personal trainer at the gym kept calling across the room to his colleagues "this is mad but I keep smelling candyfloss in here"

OP posts:
SauerKraut · 27/05/2008 18:04

A friend of mine uses sea salt in her bath too, instead of deodorant.

MrsCarrot · 27/05/2008 18:05

cleanly shaven pits and salty scrub washes might help?

FrannyandZooey · 27/05/2008 18:05

belly dancing = liberated post modern healthy fun
pole-da-cize = err ERRRRR

(have just ruined joke by having to explain my cultural references, haven't I?)
