Have namechanged..

sometimes when I open my legs, there is an awful smell. Really bad.

Once, I was out with a friend and the smell was so bad, she actually said 'this bar smells disgusting', when it was me..

It makes no difference if I have showered or bathed, if I have used soap or shower gel or nothing at all. I cannot find any reason for this, and it has only started happening in the last few months.

Does anyone have any ideas? I feel so, so but I don't know what to do.

If it helps, the smell is foul. Like rotten, almost.

Oh god

Get to a doctors!

binkleandflip · 13/05/2008 13:04

Go to the drs you probably have an infection

southeastastra · 13/05/2008 13:04

yes go to dr pronto! maybe you left a tampon up there

lou33 · 13/05/2008 13:04

it could be bacterial vaginosis, which is not sexually transmitted

but it does need a course of anti biotics to clear it up

smurfgirl · 13/05/2008 13:04

Infection probs i would go to the drs.

schmoopoo · 13/05/2008 13:04

wht did I read this whilst eating my lunch

avenanap · 13/05/2008 13:05

Agree. Could be an infection. You should go to the GP.

You haven't left a tampon there have you?

lou33 · 13/05/2008 13:05

yes i am eating a cheese and onion pasty lol

schmoopoo · 13/05/2008 13:06

I was eating marmite on toast

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:07

Can't be a tampon as I have been using tampons since, and so 2 would not, er, fit in..

Could it be an infection even though the smell is only there occasssionaly? It tends to be in the week or so before my period, does that make a difference?

Eg, right now, no smell. Just finished a period yesterday/today. Last few days - no smell. Last week - smell.

i am still eating, not a lot puts me off

plus now my ulcer is slowly improving i want to stuff my face as much as possible

lou33 · 13/05/2008 13:08

it can still be an infection

when i had it, it tended to come and go

avenanap · 13/05/2008 13:09

Could still be an infection, you should go anyway and get it checked. Is your discharge normal?

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:10

What kind of infection? Surely it would have cleared itself up by now though, this has been going on (intermittently) since December or so.

I hate antibiotics, they give me thrush

OP posts:
lou33 · 13/05/2008 13:10

bacterial vaginosis?

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:11

Yes, everything else totally normal.

OP posts:
avenanap · 13/05/2008 13:11

Would you rather have thrush or a smelly fanny?

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:14

Well.. the smell thing has happened about 3 or 4 times since December or so. And it lasts a few days at a time.

God this is so embarrassing. I really don't think I can go to the doctor. Really.

I had a mc in November. This smell, which has never happened to me before, began in December. Could it be related?

The absoloute worst time I had The Smell was just before I had the mc. I didn't know I was pregnant though, and that was the time my friend said the bar smelled. We were in a fairly small bar and literally I made the whole place smell. Everyone was looking round asking what the smell was. We had to leave and I have not been back, it was so, so

binkleandflip · 13/05/2008 13:15

All the more reason to obviously be checked by the dr

blushface · 13/05/2008 13:16

I know.. But really, I can't. If I thought I could, I wouldn't have posted about it on here, I would have gone.

I know everyone will say the docs have heard/seen/smelt worse, but I really could not say this to another person.

Really.

so learn to live with it then I guess

Lulumama · 13/05/2008 13:18

you know you must be seen. go to the practice nurse, they are much better at looking at fanjos whilst putting you at your ease

had smear test yesterday , lying on left side, foofoo akimbo, chatting about the weather and what was on telly, no shame or embarassment at all

you could end up really poorly if you have an untreated infection.

Lulumama · 13/05/2008 13:19

ok, so you make the appointment and hand the nurse or doc a note if you are too ashamed to say it.
