For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

MrsCarrot · 11/05/2008 13:30

It was sad, Tatties, though I think it needed to be to weight or root it or something, not sure what I'm saying. How fabulous was the dead weight of the invisible though? I might steal that bit and use it somewhere.

I have come in briefly as it is so hot. The neighbour has been diggin up his concrete path with an axepick so it hasn't exactly been quiet but there are no children arguing or asking for something so it's ok. It can be paeceful without being quiet I think.

I have had fruit salad and wraps with houmous leaves, lettuce and carrots. I am worried that I should eat less with all this inactivity but I still seem to be hungry.

We watched that Ian Curtis film Control last night. God it was good though sad of course. I felt all wistful about being at a small gig with a great band, not that I went to many really, more parties, but still.

Right, my vision has corrected itself from the sun. Back to the Ben Rice.

What are the other title options btw?

FrannyandZooey · 11/05/2008 14:47

Dp watched that while we were scoffing cakes in London MrsC
I couldn't face it, even he said it was a bit grim
I think you need to eat as body is healing

MrsCarrot · 11/05/2008 14:53

Do you think I need more protein than carbohydrate though, protein is needed to rebuild isn't it? I can't imagine I need many carbs as I am doing crap all..

It was a bit grim, the film, but only in the way you what happens. Visually it was brilliant. I didn't realise quite how young he was though. Only 23.

I just finished specks in the sky too, a bit gruesome Very good though.

FrannyandZooey · 11/05/2008 14:57

carbs have protein in too - most foods do
I would eat what you fancy and lots of fresh stuff obviously
you need comfort and rest as well and carbs can help you with those

I wish Ben Rice would write more stuff

MrsCarrot · 11/05/2008 15:01

Yes, he's very good isn't he, I hadn't come across his books before. I like the length too.
I am going to read the witch one with dd, I think she would like it. I see she wrote Howls moving castle - we have that dvd.

FrannyandZooey · 11/05/2008 15:03

oh it's such good fun that one MrsC
but quite gruesome in parts - you may need to read a chapter ahead and censor slightly
I like it v much indeed though

do you want to pick a title? we don't want to fall off end of world

MrsCarrot · 11/05/2008 15:04

Oh, look at that, it is getting close, um..

cyteen · 11/05/2008 15:10

I've been absolutely crap today - had blueberries for breakfast, but since they were embedded in three fat maple syrup-drenched pancakes I don't think they really count. No nice fruit in the shop either, so all I'll have for the rest of the day is what's in the house (pink grapefruit and salad stuff - lettuce/cuke/tomatoes/peppers/carrots). Actually that's not too bad, I'm off to make a big salad.

The sun has blanked out my brain. Hello to all

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 15:11

i ahve had oats and apple and another apple and banana and watercress and chicken

MrsCarrot · 11/05/2008 15:12

Raddichio, live with dressing

or

love, love with pear us a tart, again

ok, ok, getting carried away..

Um, the kale curls one?

cyteen · 11/05/2008 15:16

Oh! Lovely photos bero and littlerach. Bero, you're rather gorgeous - the hospital photos are lovely.

The cat has clearly had enough sun as well, he's snuggling up next to me and sticking his claws in Here's a pic of him being cheeky in the wintertime.

TooTicky · 11/05/2008 15:16

Am fascinated by MrsC's houmous leaves. I never realised houmous was a plant.

Bero - what beautiful pics. You are all gorgeous. That breastfeeding one in very special, I could look at it for hours and reminisce about newborns. We don't have any bf photos

LittleRach - what sweet little girls you have, very photogenic. And a couple of boys?

I like the kale title.

TooTicky · 11/05/2008 15:20

I had three quarters of a melon with kiwi and apple for breakfast, then ran along helping ds1 with his bike, then went swimming with dd1 and ds1. Dd1 dared me to go on the inflatable crocodile slide thing and I did. Three times. It was fun

BBBee · 11/05/2008 19:13

I am so excited.

Usually I come on and get ready to report exagerrating and excusing as I go but this evening I think I may have made my ten without trying.

Porridge with Summer fruit compote Carrots Peppers Lettuce Tomaotes Cucumber Beetroot LettuceCuscumbe rCarrot Tomato Pineapple 12 12

And I didn't try. I am finally a natural vegger - it has become second nature and I no longer need to try.

Does this mean I am allowed a bounty?

We had mature ledamhammermammer - it was nice.

BBBee · 11/05/2008 19:14

I like the love will pear us a tart. I think it is clever, you have to read it to get it. I like that.

Mine, is of course, still best - nice and simple but also truely deep.
