For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Yes Intelligently Nutty that was it! Well you are! And you never fail to cheer me up with your intelligent and (mostly) articulate nuttiness

Fullmoonfiend · 29/04/2008 18:21

Anyhooo, back to business.
Do you do any excerscie Chockrock? We are supposed to do 10 mins extra excercise a day as well. I am exempt from this, I have a Note From My Mother.

And anyway, I do lots of walking and digging on my allotment and I'm sure sex counts.

ChocolateRockingHorse · 29/04/2008 18:22

Gym for 1 hour three times a week.
And yes do at least 10 mins fast walking a day (from car park to school... and back.. and again later...)

ChocolateRockingHorse · 29/04/2008 18:22

Extra to what exactly??! I missed the word extra...

zippitippitoes · 29/04/2008 18:22

digging and sex counts

zippitippitoes · 29/04/2008 18:23

when did i start 10/10

whoi keeps records

i have definitely increased by more than ten minutes

ChocolateRockingHorse · 29/04/2008 18:23

Digging? As in verbal holes or gardening??!

I have the occasional shag too.. so all's good.

Fullmoonfiend · 29/04/2008 18:24

Do you know, Fruiters, I'm not sure we should let this newb in. She does lots of excercise and achieved the mighty 10 on her first day and will become Teacher's pet.

ChocolateRockingHorse · 29/04/2008 18:24

I doubt it.. Franny thinks I'm a nob..

littlerach · 29/04/2008 18:25

ChocolateRockingHorse · 29/04/2008 18:25

Oh goodie! Days off for being "on"! Like school PE!!

FrayedKnot · 29/04/2008 18:29

I have my period.

And am going to yoga.

TooT I hope DS is OK. Sounds like a traumatic time

UnderRated · 29/04/2008 18:38

congrats to all menstruating veggers.

FK, can you do yoga when you have your period? I had an, um, 'incident' with my mooncup last time

FrayedKnot · 29/04/2008 18:59

Oops UR!

I don;t have a mooncup (yet - keep promising self) so should be OK.

I already have endometriosis so I'm not bothered about standing on my head.

Actually we don;t do that, lol, but we do inversions sometimes.

TooTicky · 29/04/2008 19:20

Hello
Basically, ds2 was in so much pain but with v. little visible injury, that they concluded the damage must be deeper, so said he would have to have a general anaesthetic so they could get a proper look.
This was around midday and poor love had only eaten a kiwi fruit that morning, and they had to starve him. They hoped to get him into theatre between 5 and 6 but in the end it was after 8.
Of course we'd brought nothing with us because we thought it would just be a quick check up.
He looked very small, especially when they put him to sleep and I had to go away and wait.
Thankfully dd2 was with me and she was a great comfort. She also charmed the staff by being calm, cheerful and telling them all about her shoes.
Turned out ds2 had a Y-shaped laceration of the cornea and they stitched it up
He slept lots.
Dd2 slept quite well, I slept not a lot.
Dd2 and I started the night on a chair then camped on the end of ds2's bed.
Ds2 not happy. He has 3 types of eye drop )every 2 hours, 3 times a day and 4 times a day) and some antibiotics which he hates.
It hurts to open his eye, especially if it is at all light.
But at least they let us come home

Aw TT, that sounds so traumatic I really really dislike seeing my children put under a general anaesthetic I hope his eye is better soon.
