For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

i must have breakfast i am shattered

i think she enjoyed it she is going to find the commute tiring i can see

i hardly saw her

i was hoping for horrible weather so i could not garden this morning because i am not really up for it

FrannyandZooey · 08/04/2008 08:29

TooT the food hygiene things are quite strict I am afraid
I don't want to put you off what is a good idea but the laws are basically rather off putting
if you feel very motivated to do it, I am sure you can, but you do need food hygiene cert and your premises inspected so it isn't something you can just start on spec really (well not legally)

I still think you should consider the children's music group again. I know you said you were shy, but is that just in front of the parents? Would you be shy if it was just children - you could do an older age group eg 4 or 5 and up and then the parents could bugger off. As long as you don't go on for longer than 1 h 45 you don't have to be registered even if parents not there - you would need insurance and probably best to get CRB check if parents not there. But I find I have much more confidence when doing my job as I don't feel shy with children, and it has spread to other areas of my life. You might find it is not as bad as you think if you are concentrating on what you are doing

anyway
apple, raisins, strawberries, melon

strange thing. I get you. I found it very exciting and I didn't even experience it as it happens. I knew someoen on the authors team zip so I know someoen who kind of knows your - um - what shall I call him - um, climbing friend. I hope the weather there gets worse or you can make something up about the wrong kind of soil or supplies.

I am trying really hard today. I have had muesli - do you count that as anything? and I am about to have a clementine.

I have not hit the magic 10 for ages.

Bad Bee

FrannyandZooey · 08/04/2008 08:34

thank god I did not say what a shower the authors team were

can second what franny says about the food standards thing - I think it has become harder in the last few years. \my uncle runs potery courses and it used to be a residental catered for thing but now he has had to change it all as under new regs they failed the food thing and it was too hard to achieve it. Now they bring sandwiches and go to local pub.

does muesli count for a hill of beans in this crazy 10/10 world?

BBBee · 08/04/2008 08:39

they were a shower- they blamed the questions for being too scientific.

FrannyandZooey · 08/04/2008 08:44

Bee did it have a lot of fruit in it?
I doubt it had a hill of beans in it tbh, that would be scary muesli

1 tbsp raisins counts, so you don't need loads of dried fruit to make a portion - but if you added a handful of dried fruit, a chopped banana and a glass of oj think how many more it would have been

BBBee · 08/04/2008 08:49

oh god franny i feel like a baby here and i have been here for ages but have slippedd big time. Okay - will eat clementine and will add sliced banana tomorrow.

Have cut out alcohol and caffine down to two a day.

bbbee my tip from novice is, buy a bag of organic carrots and eat them, because you can do it without peeling and don't really notice

eternalstudent · 08/04/2008 10:05

Hi.

Nothing much to say for myself today, am now on day 3 of waiting for curtains to be delivered. Going a bit mental.

Might make some lentil soup. Just for a larf.

Is there a recipe for these balckeye bean burgers? I was planning a burger fest for tea.

Nothing F&V wise so far. Does marmalade count

TigerFeet · 08/04/2008 10:21

fruit salad with yogurt & peas

veg soup for later

might do fajitas for tea with lots of peppers, onion & mushroom

TigerFeet · 08/04/2008 10:22

peas? wtf? I meant seeds

vegetables have vegetated my poor tired brain

MrsCarrot · 08/04/2008 10:25

PEAS?

I need some co-sleeping bf advice. Ds2 has started waking five times after I go to bed for milk and he is just furious if I refuse so I give in. How do I resolve this without banning him from the bed and some milk in the early hours if he wants it?

I am getting worried about him when I have the op, consultant said I would be in for four days and I have never been able to express anything significant and what about morphine in the milk?

Boco · 08/04/2008 10:27

Lol at fruit salad with yoghurt and peas - that's really 10/10 hardcore.

I did well yesterday! Probably 8 portions but big ones. Dp did the shopping yesterday and said there was no fruit, so we only have apples and one decidedly cunty looking mango.

dd back to school today.

Boco · 08/04/2008 10:31

MrsC that's tricky.

I was in hospital for a week when dd1 was 9 months, had lots of drugs so couldn't bf - I had to express just enough to be comfortable and chuck it, but when out of hospital she quickly built my supply back up and carried on feeding. Do you have a pump? I didn't and had to use this giant milking machine that the hospital had.

Does he take cups or bottles for when you're in hospital?

DD2 did the feeding all night thing and it's exhausting. Does he co-sleep at the moment?

TigerFeet · 08/04/2008 10:35

[sings]

peas release me let me gooooooooooooooo

MrsC, I will speak to my friend who was in a similar situation re bfing and an op/hospital stay - I can't remember how she got round it but she is still BFing a year later How old is ds2?
