DD has seen a consultant for tests recently, she is behind at school and seems emotionally immature. We had lots of academic tests done, took about 2 hours. She seemed to do ok.

We were then sent to the hospital for blood tests. I have no idea what for. The hospital just phoned me and said can the consultant come to the house one evening this week and speak to me about the results. They said they need my husband to be home too.

I am terrified. Has anyone else had a consultant come to the house? Am shaking and cant get hold of my husband or my mother.

She is coming tonight.

Where are you LGT - are any of us nearby and could come and sit with you.
FG has a great idea - do some tasks that will keep you busy for a bit and concentrating, (although if you are in a real state, stay away from a v hot oven - you will probably forget mitts!)
What time is dh due back?

largeginandtonic · 01/04/2008 14:08

My mother looks younger than me FG and always smells of Anais Anais >

Have texted dh but didnt want to sound too scared incase he gets scared. Farcking ridiculous i know. I just said please call if you can honey

No advice, just thinking of you LG&T. It is comforting to know that some Consultants do this and she knows how many kids youv'e got at home etc. Big Hugs x

LarryVeestAdamAntSpawnChorus · 01/04/2008 14:09

Oh LG&T - how worrying for you. If there is a problem, the chances are that it will be manageable, but I can absolutely imagine how terrified you must be. x

Psychomum5 · 01/04/2008 14:10

oh for goodness sake....he is your DH and will want to know how terrified you are.

call him now on his mobile, or text him to ring you immediately.

please

shabster · 01/04/2008 14:10

G&T I know this is not funny, at all, but you made me with your Anais Anais comment. Thinking of you my love xxxxxx

largeginandtonic · 01/04/2008 14:14

Psychomum you are great, i really hope your dd is ok. It sounds scary although i have no idea what it is. It is the waiting and waiting.

Effie she must be working, she is a home care workere. Goes in to look after all the lovely old and slightly unhinged but great fun people. You know the ones that swear blind they have eaten brekkie but the toast is still in the toaster. She loves it. One of them made little Beau a lovely blanket when he was born. Gah! Does she not know her dd is suffering.

LG&T - TBH I think that's a bit crap. To tell you that she needs to see, you with your husband and give you no idea of what the problem is - she must realise that you will be worried. Grrr.

On the upside - if there was something that was an immediate problem she would have asked you to go to the children's ward today, I'm sure. I've received calls at home from dd's consultant to discuss things rather than wait for an appointment.

EffiePerine · 01/04/2008 14:18

Maybe she needs a pager (preferably one with a siren and flashing lights for your calls!)

Psychomum5 · 01/04/2008 14:19

My DD will be fine ultimately......we are doing these tests more so that we have a reason to tell the school why she keeps getting ill.....there is no proper treatment unless it is severe which thankfully, if she does indeed have it, it will be a mild form (tis a blood condition whereby they cannot fight off bugs in the same way other people can and explains why she keeps getting bugs worse than anyone else, and why she gets ill so often!!).

anyhoo.....back to you......are you breathing calmer yet???

oh, and sending cyber hugs in lieu of your mum not being there as yet, or even got hold of as yet....bad bad mum that she is!

largeginandtonic · 01/04/2008 14:19

MrsJB on the phone now.

LG&T, what a great DH! You will have big strong arms around you very, very soon, you can cry and tell him your worst fears. He will kiss you and cuddle you and stand beside you. He's great.

NatalieJane · 01/04/2008 14:29

So glad he is coming home. Hopefully he will be able to calm you a bit.

Jackstini · 01/04/2008 14:29

largeginandtonic · 01/04/2008 14:30
