Corroded my bum hole with bleach

This was very dumb.

Yesterday I was on the loo doing my business when I realised there was no loo roll.

No idea why I thought it would be a good idea to use anti bac wipes (kept next to the toilet for cleaning!). I thought it would be fine as I occasionally use them on my hands when I’m in a pinch (on a country walk with dog for eg).

Anyway I spent most of last night with the worst burning sensation ever. Brought tears to my eyes. I washed myself and took some ibuprofen before going to sleep.

Now that the burning pain has subsided my poor bum is really raw and sore. I’m very uncomfortable/borderline in pain but can put up with it after the hell that was last night.

What can I do beyond keeping myself clean?

Is a long walk a bad idea? The sun is shining and would love to take my dog out for a coffee and a long country walk.

Is there any point on putting on an ointment? I’m a bit wary as I’ve well and truly learned my lesson.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with everyone else about the long walk. As long as you have an old pair of jeans that you can cut the bum out of, then going commando, put your jeans on, next get some extra strong packing tape, and then tape your bum cheeks apart, so that the nice fresh and cool outside air can flow past your bum hole whilst you are taking your dear dog for a nice fast walk (sorry pooch, no time for sniffs) in a dense forest.

My only word of caution is, if your dear dog is not a ferocious looking guard dog type of dog, who would keep any chancers away, maybe you had better stay at home this time, and just spray some glade on there instead to mimic the fresh air... 🤭

Thank God there is a fresh breeze tonight, I’ll just leave it at that…

So the discomfort has picked up, I think probably from not having any distractions.

If anyone is awake do you think it’s best I use Savlon or just wait for the Sudocreme that is arriving tomorrow?

I have also found some healing cream we bought for the dog when he was neutered but we never used. 7 years old though. Pic attached.

Ive completely lost trust in my own judgment!

What type of Savlon do you have to hand? There’s a few different types. Wouldn’t touch the dog stuff with a barge pole- might be worth a dab if it was new, but not at seven years old. Don’t play fast and loose with old medications.

Right now I would wet and roll up some kitchen roll, stick a few of these papery sausages in the freezer and use them for relief. They should freeze very quickly as there won’t be much water in them.

This is the Savlon I have. Freshly bought too for emergencies. Could never have envisioned when I bought it a corroded arsehole would be that emergency.

I am not responsible for any small children some of you may be relieved to know.

My poor/rash decision making only impacts me most of the time.

If you're really struggling I'd use the savlon. Put the out of date dog cream in the bin!

Have you taken paracetamol? That should also help a little with the pain. Have you got a flannel you can soak in cold water and drape over your burn while lying on front? Or just stand in the shower with cold water running over you to take heat out of the burn?

The good news is that bumholes heal very quickly due to the good blood supply.

You can attach it to a regular 500ml bottle (ones for carbonated drinks work best) to spray cold or lukewarm water directly on to the affected area while you're sat on the loo, to try to take some of the heat out.

DH thinks I’m a moron so isn’t his most sympathetic (too ashamed to tell anyone else) so all the advice has been amazing.

Not v relevant but I actually keep makeup/cleansing wipes lying around for when I'm in a pinch (not for TP! For when I'm busy and any part of my body needs a quick wipe). That's way safer than cleaning wipes

Put egg white on it. Will form a barrier against poo and pee.

Vagisil is very soothing, much more than Sudocreme. It has lignocaine, and can be used on the back passage as well.

If you have access to a leaf of aloe vera use the jelly juicy bit inside is amazing how fast it heals any wounds or burns

There are clinics in LA where people go to get their bumholes bleached. I wonder if it hurts like this!

Sorry I meant to say something helpful too 👀 Savlon is good if no sudocrem. I found it used to work wonders on bad nappy rash when mine were tiny
