Corroded my bum hole with bleach

This was very dumb.

Yesterday I was on the loo doing my business when I realised there was no loo roll.

No idea why I thought it would be a good idea to use anti bac wipes (kept next to the toilet for cleaning!). I thought it would be fine as I occasionally use them on my hands when I’m in a pinch (on a country walk with dog for eg).

Anyway I spent most of last night with the worst burning sensation ever. Brought tears to my eyes. I washed myself and took some ibuprofen before going to sleep.

Now that the burning pain has subsided my poor bum is really raw and sore. I’m very uncomfortable/borderline in pain but can put up with it after the hell that was last night.

What can I do beyond keeping myself clean?

Is a long walk a bad idea? The sun is shining and would love to take my dog out for a coffee and a long country walk.

Is there any point on putting on an ointment? I’m a bit wary as I’ve well and truly learned my lesson.

better wipes are aldi ones etc but the ones with cleaning solutions in them do sting @Lottsdsjpys

I can kinda empathise after going for a pee whilst chopping chillies. I did wash my hands before and after but fiery fanny was not pleasant. Definitely sudocreme or metanium and hope it’s less painful soon.

stopthinkingaboutit · 26/02/2024 21:44

Sudocreme sorts everything!

BreatheAndFocus · 26/02/2024 21:44

Another vote for the yellow Metanium. It’s magic and should soothe it a lot.

Sudocrem, I'd also spend as much time as possible with bare legs akimbo to let the air get to it.

Only do this at home and if you live alone 😯

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 26/02/2024 21:48

I’d use sudocrem. No long walk either. I did a long walk a week ago without cotton knickers or breathable leggings on and I got sweat sores in and up my bum crack! Had to get the yellow nappy cream and a glide one. My god the pain!!!

Bare arse at night though and avoid tights and leggings for a few days. Air dry the area.

Ger1atricMillennial · 26/02/2024 21:50

Hi OP. I hope things have cooled down now. Easy mistake to make.

If you can visulise the area (with a mirror) it might help you see whether it's an irritation of the skin or something else then go to the pharmacist to get advice.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 26/02/2024 21:52

I actually googled sore bums here recently and everything from red raw line sores or in growing hair there came up! I was lucky to get away with a few sores!

2under4 · 26/02/2024 21:57

Omg I've almost done this so many times 😨So glad I erred on the side of caution - it could have gone either way.

Hope your bum feels better soon x

Am I the only one who came on here expecting this to be a case of anal bleaching gone wrong?

Anyone else remember that thread a few years back? 😂

Yes! Me too (as in I recall the thread - not that I've done it !)

MechyMagic · 26/02/2024 22:01

Seems like a great time for you to look up the Amazon Review "do not put on knob and bollocks" - may help speed up the time between this being an embarrassing story and one you laugh about 🤣

Saladpops · 26/02/2024 22:02

My friend did this with alcohol wipes she had in her purse when we were out shopping. She walked like John Wayne for the rest of the day 😆

Usernamqwerty · 26/02/2024 22:05

Oh no OP! This sounds awful... some advice here from NHS: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/anal-pain/

You could also try sitting on a sanitary towel which has been in the freezer / a frozen flannel.

Hope you feel better soon 💐

Frangipanyoul8r · 26/02/2024 22:13

Put frozen peas in a food bag, wrap in a light muslin and clench the soft frozen bag between your bum cheeks to hold it in place.

I assumed she had poured toilet bleach over her bum bit. I was wondering how she managed it. Without burning all of down there.

Dillydollydingdong · 26/02/2024 22:21

Savlon could be good

Lottsdsjpys · 26/02/2024 23:05

Tbh it’s still very sore but tbh my pain tolerance has been completely recalibrated after the fresh hell that was last night. I was crying, panting and having heart palpitations in the shower!

Have primed some Sudocreme and metanium.

As dumb as it sounds I knew it was the best thing to do but I thought I could use the wipes and then jump straight in the shower and be okay…not the case.

Glad to hear you are on the mend... Would you manage a chat with a pharmacist for advice?

Don't berate yourself. You are not dumb, you are human and will learn from your mistake. Hope you get better sleep tonight (Night Nurse is your friend). X

Usernamqwerty · 26/02/2024 23:12

Also, has a doctor or nurse seen it? Might be a chemical burn requiring treatment...

BobbyBiscuits · 26/02/2024 23:24

Sudocream or anusol (pile cream). Neither burn or hurt, they are quite soothing. I wouldn't do too much exercise as chafing might occur which may make it worse. It should go down in a day or so, else speak to a pharmacist?
And whoever used the last bit of bog roll without replacing it should be buying you a doughnut shaped pillow!

SlightlyJaded · 26/02/2024 23:29

Just to cheer you up.... I bet your bum hole is really really clean though :)

noooooooo · 26/02/2024 23:36

Ooft. I once washed my bum with exfoliating facial wash, in a bout of absent-mindedness.
Cue two weeks of agony, I had angry infected boils all round my ring.

I used cooled boiled water and cotton pads to wipe, and a wound wash that came in a spray form, and to numb it, haemorrhoid cream containing lidocaine. And let the air at it 😂

TheCraicDealer · 26/02/2024 23:43

This reminds me of when DTwin’s BF decided to try out some Natural Source Tea Tree body wash whilst we waited to leave for our flight home from our first friend group holiday away when we were 19. Except he didn’t read the bottle, assumed it was some sort of aftersun/cooling gel, applied it to his balls and left it on. All was fine until an hour or so into our flight home from Greece, when some sort of reaction took place. He started writhing in his seat (much to DTwin’s annoyance) complaining of an intense burning sensation. He tried to get the worst of it off using the tiny airplane sink with little relief. When he eventually made it back to his Nanny’s house, she greeted him at the door with, “well son, how was the holi-“, he pushed past her with a “NOT NOW NANNY” and ran to the bathroom for a cold shower.

TLDR you won’t be the first or the last to do something like this, and at least you were at home and not on an international flight. But for body parts with mucous membranes, stay away from anything burny or stingy, including volterol.

Beenop · 26/02/2024 23:52

Have you tried using deep heat?
