For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Morning, sorry I didn't get on yesterday. My appointment went quite well, I was there for an hour or so and he really explained everything properly and I feel a bit better now I'm not speculating about it all.

The cancerous buds are microscopic, the very earliest stromal invasion, he said ten years ago the microscope wouldn't have been able to see it. They recommend a hysterectomy as I've had children as this glandular condition is so hard to monitor. I was surprised because he said they would have advised it even if they hadn't seen the actual cancer because the pre-cancerous changes are high grade and they could turn at any time.

It is lucky the smear picked up any abnormality. The cells have to waft down. I could have more cone biopsy but it starts to get dangerous if you have too much and the smears might be normal but that doesn't mean cancer isn't developing again further up into the cervix. Cervical cancer is usually the sqamous cells on the outside and thats what the smears detect. The glandular type is more aggressive, harder to detect andthere can be abnormal areas with normal skin in between.

I don't feel like I have a choice really. I am down for a hysterectomy in two months or so but if a space comes up it will be sooner.
He was reassuring that surgery would be the end of it. I asked about the discovery of more advanced lesions after surgery and he said it was rare so I should be fine. I won't have to have chemotherapy or anything.

Sorry, that was long and boring. What a grim day. We haven't painted out easter tree yet and I can't really be bothered. I ate bread yesterday and I am aware of it.

Oh, MrsCarrot, what a day you had. A Hysterectomy sounds so drastic. If it means no more cancer and no chemotherapy or other unpleasant treatment then perhaps the lesser of two evils? How do you feel about it?

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I have to go and make a chocolate cake.

UnderRated · 22/03/2008 13:39

Love the Pashley bikes btw Franny.

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2008 13:44

MrsC I am very pleased to hear treatment is permanent and, well, so straightforward

am sorry to hear it has to be a hysterectomy
don't want to do painful probing but let us know if you would like to talk about how you feel about it

what a great thing they discovered it so early! incredible

TooTicky · 22/03/2008 13:47

MrsC, good to hear from you. Sounds as if it's more manageable now. Is that comp[letely the wrong word? I know what I mean.
If there's ever anything any of us can do, just say, won't you?

TooTicky · 22/03/2008 13:48

My toes are cold again and going numb around the edges. Still, at least it's sunny.

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2008 13:49

TooT is it reynauds thingy? is that the right name?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 22/03/2008 13:58

I don't know - what is that?

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2008 13:59

Do you have poor circulation, Toots? Cold toes is horrible. Once mine are cold they never seem to warm up.

easternalstudent · 22/03/2008 14:19

I get a similar thing in both of my middle fingers, they both just go totally white and numb. Mostly happens in the winter but not necessarily through cold...

My Grandma had Deupitrons(sp?) so I expect it's early stages of that - can that affect a toe thing too??

TooTicky · 22/03/2008 14:27

Erk. Don't like the sound of Reynauds. But yes, toes (especially little ones) go numb quite easily and are v. painful in cold weather.
I get the odd numb, white finger thing too.
Ginger is good for circulation, isn't it? What else?

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2008 14:35

hooray hooray my friend who I thought was maybe not coming over for egg hunt and easter jollity is coming after all
her ds and mine can decorate the tree together and stuff, oh hooray

we were meant to be at a party this afternoon but hosts' dd very ill, so cancelled, and I thought we were stuck in tomorrow doing not much also

weather is something else here! horizontal type rain

TooTicky · 22/03/2008 14:40

We have sunshine and bitter wind. Oh, and there was light sleet while I was hanging out the washing

easternalstudent · 22/03/2008 14:43

Ginko is good for circ.

TooTicky · 22/03/2008 14:57

Thankls, have just researched a bit - apparently the ultimate combination is cayenne, ginger, ginkgo and garlic.

UnderRated · 22/03/2008 15:03

Snow here. And I have a flat tyre and don't really know what to do with it. I don't think I have a pressure gauge so was going to put some air in it and hope for the best.

That's a spicy combination, Tooticky.

TooTicky · 22/03/2008 15:09

Good luck UR.
Your ds is very sweet btw

FrannyandZooey · 22/03/2008 17:20

oooooh fluffy snow here now

is everyone busy doing very interesting and nice things? I hope so

you know the dvds I ordered from the library? I got a phone msg saying they were ready for collection, and dp bravely went out on his bike to get them

We had about 10 minutes of snow but it dsidn't settle.

Ds2 accidentally broke ds1's painted egg and ds1 punched ds2 hard in the back. Dd2 whingey, runny-nosed and in constant need of bf. Everything feels rather shitty really.
