Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Wolfgirl · 18/03/2008 08:57

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

it basically no picking after 6 (wasn't it???) but you can pick throughout the day (except for excluded food of the week). you can have your dinner at whatever time but no picking after that. i'm rubbish at remembering the detail but i'm sure wolfgirl will come along and correct me!!!

scales said minus 1 lb this morn so i'll assume the prunes worked....tmi.....

duomonstermum · 21/05/2008 14:37

oops xpost!! what wolfgirl said!!

NaughtyNigella · 21/05/2008 18:58

Oh go on then. will try.
don't have cat but e-mail address is
millar4 at hotmail dot co dot uk
what sort of things to exclude? bread? cheese? beer?

FunkyGlassSlipper · 21/05/2008 19:42

Ok, not sure if I have the willpower to join properly at the mo but I will watch from the sidelines.

NotABanana · 21/05/2008 19:43

I have no willpower and it is actually easier than you would think. Not that I have lost much but am not eating enough.

No picking after dinner took me 3 nights to lose the urge. No coke or fizzy drinks for I don't know how long and I couldn't bear a coke now, though would love a small lemonade.

peachygirl · 21/05/2008 20:04

Hello everyone!

Can I join the nothinglostnothinggained gang this week? Was expecting to have put on so am quite happy with no loss. Am being really strict with myslef this week as am away again at the weekend so will no doubt undo all the good I do in the next few days

NAB - do not trust your scales - they lie and cheat (unless they tell you that you have lost 7lbs!). Trust your waistbands.

Are we all noticing that clothes are getting looser even when we don't lose weight? Surely must be some kind of toning effect or weight is repositioning itself or something! I am willing it all away from my tum onto my wrists and ankles which are far too skinny. [jaamy ponders whether cankles will be a better look this season than wobbly midrift...]

KPT - deffo just a glitch. We know you can do it!

Suedonim - think your metabolism has slowed right down with the small amount that you eat. It sounds dreadfully difficult for you to find something interesting to eat. What about dried fruit? Can you get that out there. Would keep you going if you snacked on it through out the day. And if you haven't got much weight to lose it will be more difficult to shift. Think exercise might be the way to go for you and don't you dare feel guilty for having some "me" time. The 20min swim I have while DD1 is in swimming lesson is absolutely the only time I have to myself all week (except when DDs are in bed) and I love it!

DMM - am loving the scales idea!

brightongirldownunder · 22/05/2008 01:46

Hi guys

Can I join?
I'm fed up as I'm in Sydney where everyone looks perfect apart from me and my baby handles. I march everywhere with DD (1) but think my prob is snacking too.
Does anyone do any exercises in the evening?
One glass of wine ok? I really need it at the moment after the big move..
Can we eat what we want at dinner (obviously not just cheese and chocolate)?

brightongirldownunder · 22/05/2008 01:48

my e-mail - info at leonieshearing dot com
Haven't weighed myself in years but know that when DH and I had medicals and we got weighed that he raised his eyebrows at my weight (I asked not to know..)

Wolfgirl · 22/05/2008 08:03

oh wow! of course you can ladies, it will be lovely to have you on board.

Im just doing morning chores - dressed, washed, wash load, snacks.... blah blah, and will come back to you on my coffee break

brightongirldownunder hello, we have friends in Sydney, and we are hoping that we can visit autumn 2009, or new year 2010. I know it sounds way off, but it will be expensive and our main hol, so have to save.

I have no idea where they are in Sydney, they emigrated this time last year I think, and they love it.

If you are still out there at that time, and anywhere near where we will stay, we could meet up if you like? Don't know you of course, but heck.... so what LOL

OP posts:
Wolfgirl · 22/05/2008 09:23

oh and also, Im wondering with your NN being Brightongirldu, are you originally from Brighton? DH lived there over 20 years, his sister is in Hove and my MIL in a nursing home there, so we visit frequently. I love the summers in Brighton.... just love em!

OP posts:
brightongirldownunder · 22/05/2008 14:33

Ahhh Brighton....Yes born and bred there. Have to say Sydneys fab, but for some reason I'm missing the pebbly beach, dirty sea and screeching seagulls. Must be in my genes...
We will still be in Sydney when you come, Wolfgirl - we've got permanent residency. I intend to come back with DD once a year - though may need serious amount of valium for that!
Always welcome new faces - its pretty hard starting all over again here. Missing family and friends but slowly making new buddies. Planning to move to Bronte in Oct, as we really miss the sea living in the city (Rozelle).
V.nervous about this diet business - chocky biccies staring at me from the fridge

duomonstermum · 22/05/2008 18:12

must be doing something right. my HOT driving instructor thought i looked a lot slimmer! now all i have to do is get DH to admit the same suffice to say he's VERRY pissed off that another man noticed!!!lol lol lol jealous DH side effect!

NaughtyNigella · 22/05/2008 20:42

well done duo. good to hear it actually works.

why is it on the first day of planning not to pick all evening - i start obsessing about it while i am eating my tea at 6 pm?
And I may have to finish a small glass of red that is calling me.

duomonstermum · 22/05/2008 22:41

NN that would be because your mind is being evil mine constantly tells me i reeeeaaaallly want the magnum that DH is eating veerry slowly in front of me. grounds for divorce methinks.

NaughtyNigella · 23/05/2008 14:52

i did so well ignoring the pangs until the fridge spontaneously opened and a peanut butter sandwich jumped down my throat.
i am so weak.

Wolfgirl · 23/05/2008 20:24

Hey DMM, well done you. I dont get looked at ever these days, although I was looking a bit trendy and dresed up the other day, and I saw a driver give me a side glance no horn hooting or whistles though. ah well.

Brightongirldownunder - just mailed you

NaughtyNigella - live by the sword - die by the sword - a saying from somewhere. That peanut butter sarnie was soooooooooooo naughty. and again! Finish the jar and buy no more, thats my advice.

Hows everyone doing NOT eating PUDDINGS this week? Its my night off tonight, and I ate a chocolate caramel square for pudding.

Still no TOTM, although Im having incredible sweet cravings and ate a bar of chocolate today - couldnt help meself tbh - just jumped down my throat LOL

Well, only a week away for my hols, and whilst I cant say Ive done my best.... at least Ive had a go. I think Ive lost about 8lb in the time we have started, so not bad. I shall continue when I get back, as I truly do want to get back to a size 14 (if not a size 12). Im squeezing into 16's and so Im heading in the right direction. I cant lose weight any quicker as I cant exercise very well, but I will plod on.

Please stay with me ladies, unless you get bored that is

Also, would anyone like to take up the spreadsheet and fill it out whilst Im away? it will be for 2 weeks. So you would have to send a reminder out on Monday June 1st and attach the ss, then again the following Monday, oh and really - we are not getting back till Monday 16th very late, so maybe that Monday too - which would make 3 Mondays in total.

Holla if you do. Or!!! maybe you guys would like a break?

Leave comments here if you like. I will mail the same quetsion out via email, cos I know not everyone gets a chance to jump on MN all the time, so wouldnt want to miss anyone.

Bye for now. (long rattle, that one eh LOL)
xx

yup. twas good for the soul DH got his new bike today. we were having a great time until some twonk shunted us off the bike. no damage done to us or the bike aside from a few scratches but i dare say i'll be sore tomorrow. luckily we had stopped at a mini-roundabout and he had been slowing down or it could have been worse. it's a shitty road anyway cos there's a min-roundabout, pelican crossing then another mini-roundabout all in the space of not more than 100m. someone had to have been smoking something to think that it was necessary

we were at the 2nd roundabout when he apparently got distracted by someone crossing the pelican crossing and had to slam on the brakes. cos it's soooo hard to see a huge bike that has been in front of you for the last 10mins at least he's admitting liability so just have to get insurance sorted. and to think we'd only got it this morning and had only just taxed and insured it......

Wolfgirl · 25/05/2008 13:56

oh no DMM! Hope you are OK! I used to be a cyclist way back when..... I know how scary it can be. And then when you actually get knocked over, must be horrendous.
Hope DH's bike was ok. (Im assuming its a pedal bike and not a motorbike!)

Either way not nice! Mmmm.... actually re-reading your post, you talk of insurance, so maybe its a motorbike

I hope your weekend is OK, and nothing else untoward going on.

Thinking of you!

OP posts:
duomonstermum · 25/05/2008 18:18

twas a motorbike. lukily we always wear protective clothing even if we're melting so we got away with bruises. never thought i'd be glad of the padding on my bum! he cracked a couple of ribs but there's not much they can do about that..... it has been a wierd one. BIL came and collected the bike and then went to work. 30mins later he was standing in MILs nkitchen because someone reversed straight into him no damage so that was ok. he then landed at ours 2hrs later saying he'd got a speeding fine!!! seeing as these things come in 3s i hope that was it!! touch DHs head wood...

NotABanana · 25/05/2008 18:23

I just know I will have put on a stone this week.

Wolfgirl · 26/05/2008 07:44
