Anyone want to join me in a very easy peasy diet?

Im on hols in June so that is my incentive. Beginning of December I went of a cut down diet. All I did, was after my main meal at night, I ate.... NOTHING. No picking... chocolate, biscuits, popcorn (dont we love our popcorn on MN? , crisps....nothing. Oh and no pudding!

I lost nearly 1/2 stone just by not picking.

I ate what I liked during the day, biscuit, chocolate... what ever I liked, but just stopped at night.

I have to say, I did go to bed a little bit hungry, but felt so gooooooood the next day, especially as by the end of the first week my stomach had gone down considerably, and by the second week my clothes felt looser.

Who wants to join me? anyone?

there's no such thing as a single chocolate button, is there?

MNersanonymous · 12/05/2008 17:03

ok that was a stupid suggestion....I was just thinking that if you just want a small something that's sweet it would do the job. But one would probably be worse than none as you'd want more!

cadelaide · 12/05/2008 17:24

Not stupid MN, but maybe a suggestion from someone that's not hungry?

peachygirl · 12/05/2008 21:15

ooh where am I going to get a hula hoop from?
For the elimination could we add things instead, for example. Try to eat three pieces of fruit in a day for a week?? Some of you may manage five but three is a good day for me! or substitute one cup of tea for a herbal one???
I've tried to be good but I'm not confident for the weigh in.
DH had two Mcdonalds cheese burgers today sitting next to me in the car I said no and ate toast and phildelphia when I got home.
I'm also eating quavers too as they have 97 cals and reduced fat... I love crisps.
AAgh I've just remembered about the certificate. I'll get onto it, after my massive pile of ironing. OOh look at the housework stats

Activity Calories burnt in 1 hour*
Walking at a moderate pace 287
Hoovering 193.7
Dusting 173.6
Painting, Inside Projects 66
Gardening, Weeding 287.8
Mopping Floors 193.7
Car Washing 234
Cleaning Windows 180.3
Ironing 113.1
Wallpapering 133.2
Chopping Wood 415.5
Walking up & down stairs, moderate 516.3

ROFL at one chocolate button!

Peachygirl - do you have stats for calories burnt per hour sitting on bum in front of computer? Well done for resisting the draw of Ronald McDonald's evil treats!

Well, tis weigh in day again already but I will wait til morning to do the deed and report back dutifully. Hoping may have shed a pound this week.

Wolfgirl - isn't it deadly when you have temptation spread out in front of you? I've got a run of weekends away and birthdays, anniversaries etc coming up and am dreading the food that will be on offer. Will I be able to resist?

Biscuits will be difficult. I nearly succumbed to one of Tesco's finest triple choc shortbreads this evening but resisted. Who's going to eat them now they have been banned? Will have to donate to DDs who really won't appreciate them. 'Snot fair. They always get the nice stuff. [jaamy stomps off to bed to dream about Tesco's finest triple choc shortbreads]

Good luck all for the weigh in!

Wolfgirl · 13/05/2008 09:07

Morning all! Im at work, so won't pick up your stats till tonight.

I hope the spreadsheet is OK< and Ive updated it correctly. You really must let me know if its wrong, and I will correct it straight away.

OK. I stayed the same this week, which is not surprising due to all the extra food intake over the weekend. But I take pleasure in that, its OK. at least it wasnt weight gain

I've bought a carrot into work with me today, Activia yoghurt and grapes. All things I wouldnt normally eat.

I think Peachy's idea of replacing something with extra fruit is a great idea. Well done PG.

Hi Wolfie and All,

I've finally managed to open the spreadsheet and blimey Jaamy, you're doing well!

I haven't lost this week, but i haven't gained either and i'm pretty pleased with that (what with all my migraines and sugar cravings).

Today I'm feeling fab, so watch this space!

(god, i'm gonna regret writing that i'm sure!)

NotABanana · 13/05/2008 12:51

I have emailed you Wolfgirl.

nappybaglady · 13/05/2008 18:13

Also stayed the same which is a relief but likely to go up this week unless I'm v careful. I'm having one of those lovely times at the mo when lots of exciting things are happening - birthdays & anniversaries. Went out last saturday for a 10 course (yup, 10 course) meal at v posh restaurant. Thankfully they were 10 v small portions. Am going away with DH and no kids this weekend for our 10th anniversary. And going to Bettys cafe for lunch tomorrow for dad's birthday. All very lovely but the diet is doomed!!

My life isn't normally this posh so why did I start the diet now...

Am going to make myself some fresh juice for tea tonight I think instead of food.

JustJaamy · 13/05/2008 19:02

NBL - your life sounds just like mine at the moment. We NEVER do anything and now we are booked solid at the weekend right up til our hols at end of June. Must be the time of year. Thank goodness for the lovely weather because the thgought of having to bare some flesh is the only thing that is keeping me away from the fridge (in between parties and weekends away)!

Thank you, Cadelaide. I had a really good week where I lost 5 lbs (after a week of putting on weight). Have been trying to replicate that good week ever since but not to be. Well done you for not putting on weight after thos ehorrible migraine days. I had one on Saturday and you're right, you keep nibbling at things to try and keep the sickness away. Tis a horrible thing.

Wolfgirl - well done to you too on the no weight gain.

Lost another pound this week so it is coming off slowly but surely. I now have (just!) a stone to lose until my target weight. DH would also like it to be known that he has lost 8lbs too! And that's without exercise (he is always apparently too tired) and while I've been cutting down during the day he is eating whatever he wants until evening meal. So the no nibbling in the evening diet really does work.

Off to bath DDs and then rub something nice on my sore bits (too much time in the garden today!) literally

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Wolfgirl · 13/05/2008 19:34

NO, I lied ladies. I thought Id stayed the same, but I actually put a pound on. will do better next week. I think it must have been the tail end of the bank hol, then this weekend just gone. Ate loads more and different foods than normal. so not surprising really, although I did secretly harbour an idea that I might have lost a pound.

ah well.

Hi everyone, i have lost 3 and a half pounds this week. Had relatives staying over the weekend but it was so hot i wasn't very hungry, and i was having my wine half wine half sparkling water . Its a lot cooler here today and i am feeling quite snacky.
Never mind wolfgirl you will feel extra inspied to be good this week.!!

kingprawntikka · 13/05/2008 20:16

inspired not inspied ... although we could set up a diet survellience squad!!

peachygirl · 13/05/2008 20:22

I lost 1lb so am back to weight I was last week. I feel very virtuous about the Mcdonalds now !!

NotABanana · 13/05/2008 20:32

I lost 2lbs!!

duomonstermum · 13/05/2008 21:21

lost a pound despite mint aero balls!!!! DS bought me a bag when he was at the shop so it would have been bad of me not to eat them...

i'm doing loads of walking so at least the legs are starting to look slightly less jellyish. the weather really helps but my hayfever is really bad. the non-drowsy stuff knocks me out so i'm running around with itchy eyes and a runny nose

duomonstermum · 13/05/2008 21:27

it's a big bike race up here this weekend so plenty of barbecues to attend! it's the NW200 so the place is crawling with bikers meling in their suits... why on earth would you walk around the town with leathers on?? idiots btw only the novices do it so you can spot them a mile away!!

Wolfgirl · 14/05/2008 10:48

Morning ladies

Im wanting to give you some pre-warning about our food elimination for next week, so you can meal-plan a bit better, and not be tempted!

So! next week we are ALL going to cut out..... PUDDINGS!

OH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS we are! No trifles, cheesecakes, gateauxs, ice-cream, apple pies/crumbles.... none of it.

There are exceptions though. This is what I will allow:

jelly
lollys - plain (no ice-cream in the middle or anything fancy like Magnums etc) - and only if the weather is stonking hot again (which Im not sure it will be, I think its on the turn to get a bit cooler )
Fruit salad (no cream or other toppings)

Thats it. What do you all think about that plan then?

Don't forget this week its: Biscuits

OP posts:
JustJaamy · 14/05/2008 11:16

Gosh, WEell done all for the weight losses. Especially KPT - 3.5lbs! Even with visitors and a great excuse to pig out - go girl!

Well, I did succumb to the triple choc shortbread - Have I been going on about it enough? - but then sent the other bag of cookies over with DD when she went to play next door so all biscuit temptations now removed from chez Jaamy. Poor DDs!

Puddings at home aren't usually a problem for me. DH doesn't really do the sweet thing so we never really have anything in the house except for a bit of plain icecream for the DDs. Will have to think of something else I can give up...is there any thing left?

Poor DMM with hayfever. Mine doesn't seem to have kicked in this year yet which is bizarre must be a different pollen. No doubt I will be streaming by June. We were at a BBQ at the weekend and I avoided all the bread, just had a burger and sausage and then heaped up my plate with salad. Seemed to work, though I couldn't resist the lure of alcohol. Must remember, your tip, KTP, to add sparkling water to the glass.

Wolfgirl - I firmly stand by the theory that if you've put on weight this week then you will be due a good loss soon. Sorry to say that I think I am going to have to sack the hula hoop after about half an hour of picking it up from round my ankles! Far too frustrating for me. I don't really have a waist, just stright up and down. Well, that's my excuse and am sticking to it.
