What is the WORST pain you've ever had?

Apart from labour

I’ve had some pretty nasty migraines that were more painful than my 2 c section recoveries!

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever been in & how long did it last?

Forceps delivery without an epidural. The pain was only brief, but it was excruciating.

Readingineading · 04/12/2023 23:09

Salmonella poisoning. My insides were ripped to shreads, I was passing huge amounts of blood rectaly. I was on a morphine drip for 5days. Horrendous.

KnickerlessParsons · 04/12/2023 23:09

Toothache. Far worse than labour.

Cincinnatus · 04/12/2023 23:10

Toothache I would say. It was so so so bad.

MissingMoominMamma · 04/12/2023 23:10

I once got a pain in my abdomen and side. It lasted about 20 minutes and was absolutely excruciating. Never had it since and I have no idea what it was.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 04/12/2023 23:10

Shingles down my leg. It felt like I’d been peeled.

Collapsed lung

When the surface of my cornea ripped. It was excrutiating. You don't realise how much you move your eyes until you can't because of the intense pain.

roodulfrein · 04/12/2023 23:11

Tooth pain, absolutely horrendous

Stringagal · 04/12/2023 23:11

Toothache / abscess. Far worse than giving birth, I felt like I was going insane.

Sodie · 04/12/2023 23:11

Neuralgia

Fivepigeons · 04/12/2023 23:12

It's hard to rate because they are bad for different reasons.
Childbirth is obviously the most painful in the moment however you know it will end...
I prefer it to toothache I had once because that came and went and would hang around for hours and was awful.. made me suicidal almost.
I also had very bad cystitis once for a few months and that made me suicidal.. I was actually thinking I didn't know how would live with that pain long term... thankfully it cleared up in the end.

I personally prefer pain however intense, that you know what it is and that it will end. Like childbirth or a broken bone.

I have UC. I once had pain in my stomach that felt far worse than labour. Thankfully, it only lasted for half an hour,

NewtonPulsifer · 04/12/2023 23:13

Gallstone attack.

Noseyoldcow · 04/12/2023 23:13

Don't want to say in case I jinx myself and get something worse!

Pallisers · 04/12/2023 23:13

Bi-manual massage (one hand massaging in uterus and one on stomach) after childbirth when I was haemorrhaging. Horrendous.

mrsfollowill · 04/12/2023 23:14

Tooth abscess for me- shocking and made my entire head throb I couldn't sleep it was so bad so spent the night pacing the floor until I luckily got an emergency dentist appt the next day (this was in the 1990's!)- C section was a breeze compared. Appendicitis wasn't exactly a walk in the park either!

RosesAndHellebores · 04/12/2023 23:15

A badly fractured/wedged L1. A few years later a badly fractured/wedged T12. 6-8 weeks.

petridishmystery · 04/12/2023 23:15

I broke my arm in two places a few years ago and that was pretty awful but I’d say the sciatica I had all down my left leg was probably the worst. Didn’t know what to do with myself!

MargotBamborough · 04/12/2023 23:15

I got hit by a firework which burned a small patch of skin off my inner thighs.

Pixiedust1234 · 04/12/2023 23:16

Earache. To the point where my ear canal was so swollen they couldn't put any antibiotic cream down. I had that on and off for two years. The whole side of my face and neck were swollen too.

shudders

nutelia · 04/12/2023 23:16

Dry socket

BeeCucumber · 04/12/2023 23:16

Dry socket where your tooth was extracted and the blood clot protecting the hole has washed away. An exposed bone in your mouth is agony.

I would also not recommend any abdominal surgery where your bowels are exposed. They burn for weeks after 😦

Twilight7777 · 04/12/2023 23:18

Spinal stenosis and burst disc. Literally screamed with every movement. Morphine barely touched it.

CrushingOnRubies · 04/12/2023 23:18

Kidneys stones and the wind I had a week after I had my spleen and gallbladder removed

The headache I had last night was pretty intense too
