Apart from labour

I’ve had some pretty nasty migraines that were more painful than my 2 c section recoveries!

What’s the worst pain you’ve ever been in & how long did it last?

Parotitis - infection of the salivary gland. Unbelievably painful, constant pain in jaw, ear and side of head.
Not too far behind - childbirth, and then postpartum sepsis (abscess inside pelvis)

LovedMyLastNameItHadToGo · 04/12/2023 23:30

Back spasms, damaged discs which affects my hip and down my leg. I'm on meds now for it

MissSmiley · 04/12/2023 23:33

Sphincter of oddi dysfunction and whipple surgery recovery thankfully not at the same time

Sepsis due to Acute endometritis caused by a gynae procedure. Indescribable pain in my lower abdomen

LittleMissSunshiner · 04/12/2023 23:35

I have three incidents of pain that I rate 10/10 :

  1. Knocked a boiling kettle of water down my leg / foot = severe scalding;

  2. Was stabbed internally during a non sedated botched NHS hysteroscopy - affecting my uterus, ureter, and surrounding tissues - felt like being stabbed with a red hot poker;

  3. Bad fall down concrete stairwell resulting in broken coccyx and L1 / L2 disc herniated.

I have plenty of accidents, injuries, and pain but those were by far the most horrific and unbearable, I use them as the guide for measuring pain against.

bluebeardswife7 · 04/12/2023 23:36

Ok, that was flippant. I am sorry for all your real pain pp's. I wish you some Cham pain xx

neilyoungismyhero · 04/12/2023 23:36

T11 back fracture..the spasms were similar to labour pains but worse and it hurt to move any part of my body, breathing was only just possible. No meds helped only lying completely still.

I'm sorry to hear this - I have similar issue listed as one of my 10/10 pains. It's horrific :(

Bambam2019 · 04/12/2023 23:37

Had quite a few dislocations- knee, elbow and shoulder several times. Shoulder 100% the worst.

Absess under a tooth. I cried.

I've had a couple of humdinger Migraines where it felt like everything hurt even the blood flowing through my veins but the pain wasn't quite as intense a the tooth abscess.

I gave birth twice without any pain relief which was unpleasant.

Tessisme · 04/12/2023 23:41

Ectopic pregnancy. I could barely move so much as an eyelid because my whole being was so focused on the pain. I usually have a pretty high pain threshold, but this was something else.

Also, migraines. I rarely have them now, but they were horrendous. I still get silent migraines and they wring me out, but at least there's not much pain.

ZiggyZowie · 04/12/2023 23:41

Gallstones

Coolblur · 04/12/2023 23:42

Ruptured ectopic pregnancy. It was horrendous. I was so relieved to pass out from the internal blood loss.

Smidge001 · 04/12/2023 23:42

Toothache

Oh, don't worry! My story was bloody horrendous, but I still think I'd prefer it to 25 years of marriage to the wrong person.

MsRosley · 04/12/2023 23:47

Migraines, if I can't get hold of pain medication.

merrykittymass · 04/12/2023 23:47

when I fractured my sternum, felt like I couldn’t breathe in

I have fibromyalgia now and am in pain 24/7 people say oh you v should be used to it but you don’t, the TMJD, migraines, back and sciatic pain can reduce me to tears

MsRosley · 04/12/2023 23:48

Oh sorry, just saw you said apart from labour, OP. As you were.
