Furball - you are so hard. Respect.

Hi Sparkly, well done for coming back to it. The only way is up! Rawb the podcast god is fab, and his music seems to hypnotise me.

Did 25 again (in the gym - wimp emoticon) and it was hard work, but endorphins kicking in so "I feel good, dotn, dotn, dotn do, I knew that I would"

Furball · 16/04/2008 10:18

wooluff - I think the saying 'there's no sense without feeling' is probably more appropriate!

Went with DH last night - I seem to have taken on role of running coach rather than runner Did week 4 (yet again) and was dancing the last 5 mins which was great.

Looking forward to boys going back to school next week so I can back to morning runs on my own

Keep it up everyone, its only going to get better with all this lovely sunshine, and lighter evenings.

SparklyPrincess · 16/04/2008 11:13

Thanks for the vibes - now I feel like I've got to keep going cos I've told you lot I'm going to!

Not out tonight, but am going to do some pilates as my core strength is rubbish!

oooh, fancy French running techniques will be seeping into Lady's running. Wine in one hand, a fag in the other and a baguette tucked under her arm?

Yay, 5k today Planning 8k on Fri (eek!). Have fancy new running socks, so will report back on what 8 quid cost me!!!!

SparklyPrincess · 16/04/2008 17:38

Londonlottie - what cd (or do you mean dvd?) do you do?

I'm following routine that I got out of one of the body control books ... they're great for detailed instructions but it's a bit of a pain having to keep looking to see what exercise to do next!

Keep thinking of putting it on tape or something but that's a bit of a faff and then I'd have to listen to myself talking which would be a bit disturbing!

Bramblebrooks - I had a bit of a shock when I saw the price of the running socks, too! They are very comfy though, don't slip and have L and R on them in case I get confused ...

SP xx

ditavonteesed · 17/04/2008 11:49

The man in my running shop said you only need running socks when you go over 5k, so hopefully not too long then.
Bramble, how is 8k?
I have not been out since Sun, giving myself a bit of a break this week as just started on ADs yesterday. Donb't want to lose where I was though. Will try to get out again on Sun.

SparklyPrincess · 17/04/2008 12:43

I'm nowhere near 5k, but kind of figured if I was spending lots of money on the trainers I'd be daft to use my holey old socks!

ditavonteesed · 17/04/2008 18:05

I am def going to have to have a break as I ran up the stairs earlier and threw up.
How long do you think I can get away with before my fitness level starts to drop?

paddington99 · 17/04/2008 18:23

I've wondered about this too Dita. I've had to take a break from running because of a calf strain (or something - it hurt a lot anyway).

Thought I'd do a step class on Tuesday to keep fitness level up even if I can't run. Found it easy. Was smug. Today I can barely walk. Regret smugness

spamm · 17/04/2008 22:17

Hello again all - I got out again today, and it was freezing cold. brrrrrrrr. But I am going a little further every time.

I am very impressed by everyone's plans for running programmes - so serious - I might be asking for your advice on that in a few months time. For now all I want to do is be able to say "I went for a 25 min run last night" and not collapse in pain.

Yurtgirl · 17/04/2008 22:49

I have just discovered this thread - fantastic idea

However, I have just spent ages downloading podcast 1 and cant get it to transfer onto my mp3.

Ive got it downloaded onto realplayer atm - no idea how to get it onto mp3 - arggggggggggggh!

spamm · 17/04/2008 22:54

Welcome Yurt - not sure what advice to give, as the podcasts downloaded fine for me into my ipod thingy (sorry, it is the one techhie thing I leave to dh).

Hopefully one of the others on the thread will come with some more useful advice.

I am very new to this - did podcast 1 for 2 weeks, as I am not fit at all. Am now on number 2 and I am so impressed that I am able to do it and still walk the next day. It is good fun.

Wheelybug · 17/04/2008 23:41

Well done everyone !!

Dita - I took an almost 3 week break over skiing and was fine (although obviously exercised with skiing so not a true break). Then took a 2 week break with flu/cold and was up to distance by second run so a couple of weeks I think shouldl be ok. Hope you feel better soon.

Yurtgirl - are you downloading the wrong version ? I think there are different versions for MP3 and Ipod. I don';t really understand it but I believe that is the case.

I love the idea of running socks and them having a left and right although given the frequency with which I lose one ofa pair it coudl be a very expensive habit ! But, I think it would make me feel profesional .

Should have run today but parents here clearing my garden and they went on longer than I imagined old folk would so couldn't get out for a run but I did lots of garden clearnace. Out in the rain tomorrow.

bramblebooks · 18/04/2008 07:34

Morning all! Friday frolics everyone!

I've got my 1000 mile socks (yeah right!) - bought the trainer liners rather than ankle socks as I want to avoid the bumpy veins which seem to be hovering under my skin.

Hoping that both of mine go to school - 1 was looking a bit peaky yesterday, but maybe he was just end of the week tired. Then I can get out on my 8k, fired by coffee and porridge!

ditavonteesed · 18/04/2008 08:47

Go Bramble, let us know how it feels.
welcome yurt, i never used the podcasts just guessed and listened to my own music.
Wheely, hoping to be back on track next week although will have to wait and see, glad to hear a 3 week break was ok, I am obviously still v active so hopefully will be OK, I would be gutted if I had to go back to phase1.

bramblebooks · 18/04/2008 16:19

aaaarggggh! no1 son off ill (malingering and I realise could have gone into school!), so running tomorrow - will report back!

Furball · 19/04/2008 07:40

anyone running around the London eye area of London yesterday or down by Battersea Power Station? Saw loads of runners and hoped just one maybe from this thread.

OP posts:
bramblebooks · 19/04/2008 11:40

omg I did it! dita - it feels sweaty! (But amazing!)

It's interesting the mind games I have to play over what is, for me, a long distance. In my head I get to 3k, then 5k. After that once I'd hit 6k I was home and dry for 8k. I vary the pace, running a steady 'faster' for the first 3k, then listening to my body by slowing down for 0.5k until I'm ready to boost it up again. oy vay - only you lot would understand!!

Thank goodness for hot showers and scented shower treats!

ditavonteesed · 19/04/2008 12:12

Well done, I play the same games, half way around the first mile is nearly 2 so i might as well keep going etc.

Wheelybug · 19/04/2008 13:49

Yay ! Well done Bramblebooks - you're a inspiration to us all !!

I have just surprised myself and run for 4.1 miles (6.6 K) - I did my last run and just kept adding bits because I felt ok and have just mapped it and found I just did 4.1 .. AND AND AND I really enjoyed it . Took me 38 minutes so have slowed down my pace a lot which has helped get the distance so thats good. Yippeeeee !!

Furball · 20/04/2008 10:01

I've been out this moning at 8am for a 6K run - I've got some fab stuff on my ipod and didn't want to come home! love it, love it, love it.

Felt I needed to do the extra 1k as I went to London on friday and had a hot chocolate which is wildly high on my slimming world points. I did refuse the cream on the top though!
