I've got COVID and it's so much worse than last time - achy joints, sore teeth & gums, headache, cold, chills .... horrible. Anyone else?

I had my Covid jab this afternoon and the pharmacist was happy to leave my flu jab until next week.he said they would usually do both jabs together, one in each arm, but he understood my concern about having two vaccinations at the same time and the overload to my immune system, and also that I couldn't have one in my right arm, so I've booked my flu jab for next week. He said that a week between them would be fine .

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/09/2023 20:23

I had flu and covid together last year (different arms but that was my choice, you can have them in the same arm on the same day) and did the same agin last week (NHS). My covid arm ached for 2 days, only 1 day for the flu arm but other than that I felt fine both times.

IntheSnowySnowyMountains · 19/09/2023 00:01

Had it a month ago, still exhausted and a bit breathless.

I presume it was the new variant - I was in bed for a few days with a high temp, and had no voice for a week. DH ached all over. It came up positive on an old test for us both.

The advice here is still to test and stay home/wfh if you can (not hard since I could barely make it to the loo). My reason for testing is because I want to know if I've had it, and when to plan my booster (advised to wait 3 or 6 months, need to check which).

I work in a care home and they brought the vaccinations forward rather urgently.
Hardly any staff felt happy having though this time.

Yeah it's a bit annoying when people are offered this but don't want it - and others want it but don't qualify.

A third of our teachers are now off, even the supply who has been covering a class this week for one absent teacher now has it and won't be back! It has really hit them hard, worse than previous times.

Oh well, not much we can do but carry on!

Same here. It’s wiped out our staff ( primary school) already!

Is it 2020?

Is it 2020?

Meaning what?

Germolenequeen · 22/09/2023 21:46

Just tested postive - sore throat - cough - aches everywhere and feeling exhausted - second time for me - both times I "knew" before testing that I had Covid rather than flu/cold - this time seems to be worse tho

Laurap39 · 24/09/2023 11:47

Yes first time getting covid and positive since Thursday had a really high temp and body aches especially my hands 🤷🏻‍♀️ now cold symptoms cough no taste or smell but the worse is how wired I am, I’m not tired at all and come bedtime can’t sleep!!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/09/2023 11:49

The no sleeping is truly horrible, I was able to finally sleep on day 5, it was like I'd drunk 100 espressos!

it’s very annoying.

Laurap39 · 24/09/2023 17:46

I have to be up at 5:30 😔

Covidia · 24/09/2023 17:53

I’m up at 6 so not far behind you, it will settle in a few weeks 💐

Mimilamore · 25/09/2023 17:47

Yes, I've had it since testing positive on Friday, husband felt off today tested and he has it too. Worse than when I had it last May. Started with sore throat and no thermostatic control... followed by cough, snot and extreme fatigue.
Really hoping that it is on the wane now but cough and snot lingering on...oh yes the insomnia too, have taken sleep aid in desperation

Mimilamore · 25/09/2023 17:48

We tested because my husband is vulnerable

Mimilamore · 25/09/2023 17:54

The aching jaw and gums... didn't connect until I read other posts, put it down to sensitive teeth but no definitely finding it hard to open mouth fully and using orajel at night 😕

Laurap39 · 25/09/2023 20:57

The snot and the cough nightmare isn’t it and the high temps, the insomnia is just plain weird I don’t see the connection not everyone seems to suffer. I’m mostly just hacking away all
day and night now!

Laurap39 · 25/09/2023 20:58

Thats something I haven’t had and my husband is vulnerable too x

Mimilamore · 26/09/2023 17:11

Hope you are feeling better. My cough is diminishing, 🙃 still very snotty, heat up every now and again and the tiredness still bad. I did sleep last night with a sleep aid but husband woke me at 5.30 because he felt so rough... called 111 as he struggling to breath. SATS all just about okay though, advised paracetamol 4 hourly, sleep, raise pillows and Night Nurse to sleep. 999 if gets worse. Also started on his emergency pack of steroids and anti bs as advised 🤞🏻

Puddypuds · 26/09/2023 17:16

Tested positive this morning. Horrible headache all night and runny nose. Hopefully this is as bad as it gets!

Laurap39 · 26/09/2023 17:46

Oh no sorry to hear that! my temp and aches have gone just falling asleep at random points have bad cough and no taste or smell also feel really hungry 😂

Germolenequeen · 28/09/2023 14:47

I'm over a week in now & still testing postive.

Very bored with my bed at this stage but if I try & get up to do anything I end up feeling dizzy & wrecked - pushed it for an hour yesterday & today I'm not fit for anything.

Mouth ulcers have gone & also most of body aches too - cough has lessened but is still there & my ribs are very sore.

During my last Covid bout in '21 the symptoms weren't as acute but the tiredness persisted for weeks after.

I've been having odd dreams too - last night about a friend from secondary school in the '70s that I've not seen since the day I left.
Also dreamt about not having enough school uniforms 😬 This brought my late mum into it as I had to borrow her trousers 💔 We weren't even allowed to wear trousers so I've no clue where that came from 🙁
