For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2008 20:54

Adam you know you can eat what you want on here, as long as you attempt to eat 10 portions of f + v AS WELL

ROFL at FMV

anorak · 20/02/2008 21:01

FMV that's genius

what's floradix? sounds like two old age pensioners.

AdamAnt · 20/02/2008 21:01

If I ate 10 portions of f+v there would be no room for the other stuff. (Oh yes, I can see where you're heading with this...I'm not as stupid as I look).

Tatties · 20/02/2008 21:03

Floradix is a liquid iron supplement isn't it? You can get it from health food shops

AdamAnt · 20/02/2008 21:04

anorak - floradix is an iron-rich supplement which tastes a bit like metallic prune juice.

SpaTone is (IMO) easier to take. Sachets of iron-rich water that you mix with orange juice. Apparently each sachet contains the equivalent of 14lbs of spinach. Actually that sounds like a ridiculous amount

filthymindedvixen · 20/02/2008 21:05

actually chewing on rusty nails might taste more pleasant...

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2008 21:06

darnit Adam
it worked on all these other fools lovely disciples

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2008 21:07

actually you would be surprised what you can fit in alongside 10 f+v

OP posts:
AdamAnt · 20/02/2008 21:11

Are you still talking about eating it Franny, or stuffing it....somewhere else

FrayedKnot · 20/02/2008 21:12

Indeed, some days I exist entirely on a diet of 10/10

and cake

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2008 21:13

yes 10 / 10 and cake is the only truly balanced diet

AdamAnt we have filled our smut quota for the day, thank you

filthymindedvixen · 20/02/2008 21:15

hmm franny, you're going to have to eat a lot of cucumber in them there posh finger sarnies at the weekend you know, to compensate...

filthymindedvixen · 20/02/2008 21:22

only the other day i managed my entire 10/10 target eating nothing but cake (banana and date, cherry, mixed fruit, strawberry/cream scones, beetroot & chocolate etc etc)

FrayedKnot · 20/02/2008 21:22

Anorak, from the Floradix webiste, admittedly, but still...

"Q: Can a person on chemotherapy take Floradix?

A: Anemia is a common side affect of chemotherapy treatment. It affects 60% of patients undergoing chemotherapy, because although chemotherapy kills cancer cells, it also kills off healthy cells. Red blood cells and digestive tract cells are particularly affected because they are rapidly dividing cells. The ability of the digestive tract to absorb nutrients is compromised during treatment because digestive cells are being destroyed. Therefore, using a liquid iron like Floradix is an advantage, because the absorption is rapid. "

FrannyandZooey · 20/02/2008 21:23
