For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

finding non-toxic paints is hard and expensive but
look here for an idea

you need to sand off all rough flaky paint and then paint over.

non toxic marine paints here

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 11:11

Can she not just use something like you might put on a fence or something? I mean this boat isn't going in the water is it? Is it? God that would be exciting if it was.

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 11:12

Oh it is! Sorry FMV. I was excited by the word marine in the link

We have all been for long walk in the park. JJ did very well with the other dogs. I had to do a My Puppy is a Wuss thread yesterday. Anyway it was sunny and frosty on the ground and the children AND the puppy have been successfully run.

filthymindedvixen · 16/02/2008 11:15

ys, I'm a little fixated myself at the moment 100, (our boat needs a paint job and I am getting carried away with colour schemes and new names etc etc!)

ZippiBabes · 16/02/2008 11:19

i must eat something and stop lying in bed bossing mumsnetters around as though i am able to tell other peopl how to run their lives...i should be looking at my own

the walking the dog and choosing boat paints all sounds so nice

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 11:28

Zip strange as it may seem to you, you give consistently good and sound advice on telling other people how to run their lives. You are saying all the right things on that cocaine thread.

I am coming running to you at the first sign of drama in my life, whether you like it or not.

FrannyandZooey · 16/02/2008 11:31

No I don't think it will be going in the water although with dp and ds and us living about 2 mins from the river, I can never be 100% sure

I looked last night and found this site

they have small pots of paint and totally eco wood preserver - do you think it would be adequate? You have to do 2 coats which is an arse - dp and I are lazy people

FrannyandZooey · 16/02/2008 11:32

it will take 3000 hours to sand it won't it
what about an electric sander?

bear in mind we have to do all this secretly from ds and that neither of us exactly love DIY

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 11:34

Do you need to sandpaper off all the old paint? Can you just slop it over the top of the old paint? [lazy too]

ZippiBabes · 16/02/2008 11:38

what is it made from? you need to bne careful and get proper masks not disposable ones for sanding

thank you 100

it is easy to lie in bed and tell people what to do

specially when you have been very bad yourself and have a hangover...

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 11:41

Well I am looking forward to you issuing instructions from your bed to me. I'm not sure what sort of drama I might have, or how interesting it might be, but you never know.

I might cry in Lyme Regis because we chose the restaurant with the wrong napkins or something. It'll be something for you to get your teeth into, that's for sure.

ZippiBabes · 16/02/2008 11:43

i just think i must come across on mn as very annoying

well actually i know i do

i hope you don't have any more serious dramas than that

filthymindedvixen · 16/02/2008 16:06

no you don't have to sand it all of f&z (vvv LAZY HERE) just get rid of peeling, blistery bits!

lionheart · 16/02/2008 16:57

Hello, just hello.

filthymindedvixen · 16/02/2008 18:56

anyone out there? I'm all jittery about my poetry reading in about an hour's time. I have written a 5-verse haiku and I'm crapping myself.

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 18:59

I am here. Would you like to practice? I shall be a good listener. Is the poem any good?

I can't remember why you're doing it either. Is it a wedding?

filthymindedvixen · 16/02/2008 19:02

of course it's not any good 100, I wrote it in 5 mins!

(It is for a very good chum's birthday fund-raiser charity bash full of young boho types. For example, one of the 'proper' acts is someone's 'poetry' set to music...She has asked some of us to recite. After failing to find anything 'right' for the crowd, I wrote my own as a pressie to her.)

littlerach · 16/02/2008 19:02

Ypu'll be fine.

I will listen too, with 100x, and we will be nice and quiet.

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 19:04

[tries very hard to remember the nice and quiet instruction]

It will be GREAT. You must speak slowly and not look embarrassed. Have confidence. Head high, big smile - like Miss World.

Honestly. It'll be fine. She'll be very touched and everyone will think you were groovy.

filthymindedvixen · 16/02/2008 19:06

I cannot share it here, people will see!!

littlerach · 16/02/2008 19:07

Yes, slowly.
My friend did a reading at another friend's wedding and spoke amazingly slowly and th ewhole room listened (then shed a tear or two).

ahundredtimes · 16/02/2008 19:09

Slowly is the key FMV. With confidence, you can do a modest shrug afterwards but don't apologise for your poem, be proud and good.

It's going to be fun. Then you can get drunk afterwards. And other people will do much more charmless things than yours - there will probably be some VERY charmless things - and you will be sweet and touching and natural and SLOW.

I shall be whispering in the wings.

filthymindedvixen · 16/02/2008 19:12

I can give you one verse - it is a 5-verse haiku about our summer campervan frolics.

A puppy-boy pile
Smelling of sleep and sunshine
Encircling Sophy

Boco · 16/02/2008 19:14

You're a pro at this filthy, you're always so good at making up poems whenever we've done mucking about poems on here. It'll be great and she'll be so touched and once you start you'll enjoy it. Good luck, let us know what happens!

filthymindedvixen · 16/02/2008 19:16

yes but mine are always such doggerel shit compared to others....WAIL!

(I used to be a proper writer you know....sigh)
