Time for a new thread already!

Welcome to the thread, the purpose of this is to give anyone who is having any trouble with their drinking, a safe place to come and post about it honestly and without judgement.

There are many of us that use the thread for support and encouragement: some in recovery, others just needing a place to share about their worries. It's been going on in one form of another for a while now and has helped many people.

Thank you to all of those who have kept it going thus far, and welcome to anyone who has decided the time has come to ask for help.

Everybody's welcome, no matter what stage your drinking is at.

Jump right in, the water's fine

Are you pg again Daisy?

I've never found it difficult to abstain when pg, but when TTC I found it difficult. And when breast-feeding.

lackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2008 21:18

expat, are you seeing the EPU or booked in for a scan?

expatinscotland · 24/03/2008 21:20

i'll give the GP surgery a ring tomorrow, daisy.

i'm not in a hurry to go back to the EPU because when they do the scan, you come out to face a corridor full of pregnant women, even if you've just had really bad news.

so this time round, i'm going to demand only a transvaginal scan, i don't want to see the screen at all, and i don't want to hear the results until i'm dressed and in the quiet room.

lackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2008 21:20

too many cross conversations going on!

Yes I am Cocobear; about the same stage as expat......not exactly planned, but lesson in breast feeding as birth control not being reliable is well and truly learnt

lackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2008 21:23

god I remember that from my two MCs expat, although in a separate room you were still in the maternity unit. Jimmy's have since moved the EPU to the same wing as the general gynae ward so it is a much less harrowing experience. I hope things are OK for you.

CocoDeBearisCocoDeBear · 24/03/2008 21:24

Expat, I had to do that walk through the waiting room sobbing, while hordes of anxious women peered at me. Not nice.

You might still be surprised though.

expatinscotland · 24/03/2008 21:25

i'd never been to a place where it wasn't a wing of the gyna unit.

until i moved to this shithole trust.

lackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2008 21:28

where in scotland are you expat?

expatinscotland · 24/03/2008 21:29

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, daisy.

it's fine, except for the maternity 'services' here.

lackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2008 21:39

I thought Glasgow was quite good for maternity services?

I had DS in the "new" Simpsons in Edinburgh back in 2002.

expatinscotland · 24/03/2008 21:47

it's not Glasgow. it's west of Glasgow.

expatinscotland · 24/03/2008 21:48

i had both my daughters in the new Simpson's at ERI. i also had threatened miscarriage with both of them and the difference in how it was all handled was like night and day.

lackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2008 21:52

is that in the bit of the country where it says "here be dragons" on the maps then?

i loved simpsons. I had a horrible birth experience but the staff were fab. a few of them came to see me on the ward the next day as well.

Right am off to bed. DD slept all night last night for the first time in months....I'm hoping it's the start of something regular.

good Luck with the Epu expat. I'm crossing everything for you

expatinscotland · 24/03/2008 21:54

you know what's weird? this is right when my third period would have been due - after the ERPC i had one period, then i missed the next one and that's when i got my BFP and if my cycle was back to normal then the period would have been due now.

and i have cramps in my ovaries like i always do when i have a period.

lackaDAISYcal · 24/03/2008 22:02

expat, cramps could be the corpus luteal cyst. I've had pretty bad pains on my right side, and my scan the other week confirmed that the clc is on the right ovary. the pains can be quite severe for some women, but are normal

I feel more hormonal for a few days around my expected period date when I'm pregnant.

LOL everyone will think they have wandered onto the wrong board tonight, all this plumbing talk

good luck x

expatinscotland · 24/03/2008 22:03

thanks!

night night!

jellibabe · 24/03/2008 22:25

Found plumbing talk very interesting and lol at expats CYA .

Did badly this weekend drinkwise. Had one glass of wine at friends house on Friday and by Saturday my willpower had joined exit. Drank a bottle of wine on Sat and a bottle of wine + 2 cans of cider on Sun. Not a good combination - was sick this morning. The kids were with their Dad till tea time today so I had the WTF attitude on Sat and Sun.

However I have been sober today and feel much better this evening. My willpower has been turbo charged and I am trying to start again. Feel really greatful to be sober tonight. Ironically out of the whole weekend (apart from seeing my lovely friend on Fri) today has been my most enjoyable day.

kokeshi · 26/03/2008 00:14

Expat, haven't been around but I've been thinking about you all day. Is there any further news?

gerbrajess · 26/03/2008 00:23

Hi Kokeshi,
I must preempt by saying I'm a bit pissed tonight...not good!
I hate having to air this on the thread, it gives away much of my paranoid side, but after re-reading the chat between myself and Expat on the night she said she'd been spotting (I think it was Saturday), I'm really concerned my comment might have come across as flippant. I didn't mean it to be, it was meant to be a message of comfort.
I did apologise a few days ago and said I hoped no offence was taken but heard nothing, so have now worked myself into a knot of worries that I've upset...
What do you think? Feel terrible as I'm pretty much a newbie and am really worried I've said the wrong thing.
Expat if you read this, I'm sorry and I'm sending you more positive thoughts!!
From this, you might be able to identify that paranoia is one of my many 'challenges'.
Hope everyone is well
(feel really stupid sending this but I need to get it off my chest otherwise I'll fret eternally and lurk forever more...)
gerbrax

kokeshi · 26/03/2008 00:51

Gerbrajess, I can't speak for expat, but I know she's a hardy lass. I'm sure she just has a lot going on at the moment and will post when she can. Don't worry so much, just words on a screen - it's RL that causes us the hassles!

gerbrajess · 26/03/2008 00:53

I absolutely didn't mean it in the way it might have appeared - felt gutted when I read it back the next day...never having been in the situation made me feel worse...stupid, ignorant twit etc.etc.
Thanks anyway, how are you tonight?

kokeshi · 26/03/2008 01:01

Give yourself a break missus!

I'm not bad thanks, I have been actively engaging in a bit of pampering: you know buying new clothes, haircut, had my eyebrows done and today my eyelashes tinted.

Makes such a difference to how you feel actually. I realised I find it really difficult to be kind to myself, so it's something I'm trying to change. Not easy when you've spent so many years abusing yourself

gerbrajess · 26/03/2008 01:01

Ah well, hope you and everyone out there is well. Off to bed now, up far too late as I have an early start tomorrow...
Gerbrax

gerbrajess · 26/03/2008 01:03

Just cross-posted but good for you! Everyone deserves some pampering - I've been meaning to have a haircut for AGES but it keeps getting pushed down the list...
Off to bed now so goodnight Kokeshi
Gerbrax
