I am sure I can spend the money on rum something nice.
been in to see Steve today took him some photos of the new look conservatory, he was pleased with it.
I saw the hospice social worker who tells me that it will be a while yet as funding has yet to be agreed via a panel, the panel is monthly, she is going to see if she can get an extra panel date. But she thinks another 2 weeks [ sad]

oh FFS!!!!!! Jo you're KIDDING?????

Surely this constitutes emergency care & therefore not subject to a sodding PANEL!!!

Sorry cross with them not you, matey it's SO

39andcounting · 05/03/2008 16:15

OJ, completely echo Bossys sentiments.

Sod the system.............

bundle · 05/03/2008 16:17

v odd that a hospice can't appreciate that two weeks might be a long time wrt end of life care...

39andcounting · 05/03/2008 16:25

Why tell you this now, surely someone must have known this ?

Who is on the panel, are you allowed to approach these people ?

Probably not allowed to know and so you cant cause anyone any upset.

Bloody ludicrous, lets hope the person you saw today can swing things for you !

Just not fair Jo they should have told you this at the offset when the 24hour care was spoken about at the meeting.

lilibet · 05/03/2008 16:29

Bloody Hell

whispywhisp · 05/03/2008 16:31

Bloody typical ain't it....always comes down to money. Money should not come into it when its a case of getting someone home to be with their loving family. Pathetic.

stleger · 05/03/2008 16:50

Crossing fingers for an extra panel date - surely not unreasonable in the hospice sphere! Take care of yourselves, you are some family!

seasidemama · 05/03/2008 17:20

Can you go direct to your PCT OJ and ask them to agree the funding? Maybe your Mac nurse could help? Seems perverse to me. and for you.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 05/03/2008 17:23

OJ am at having to go to panel.

Beggars belief, really.

prettybird · 05/03/2008 17:29

Forgetting your MIL (who seems to think it would be easy, but who would disappear when it came down to the hard work), is there anyway you could arrange your own 24 hour care? Even if it cost a lot of moeny?

I know it is important to you to get him home - but that the necessary care is absolutely essential.

You really are caught between a rock and a hard place.

robinpud · 05/03/2008 19:33

at having to go to a panel. I do hope they can get an extra date or an interim arrangement for you. Fingers crossed. Take care

QueenMeabhOfConnaught · 05/03/2008 19:36

Congrats on the £300, OJ, but sorry to hear about the weird panel thing - amazing that there isn't a way round it.

You and Steve and the children are in my thoughts as ever. Good luck.

onlyjoking9329 · 05/03/2008 19:41

the social worker said it has to got to panel because of the high cost, I need to ring her tomorrow cos I didnt ask when the next panel was due to meet.
Steve is not aware of this set back and I am not sure that I should be the one to tell him.
thing is I feel under pressure to bring Steve home but I know I won't be able to keep him safe. I will just have to push them into action ASAP.

schmoopoo · 05/03/2008 19:42

would he be allowed out for a few hours or would that be confusing for him

misdee · 05/03/2008 19:44

OJ, i remember waiting for panal well.

i hope they dont make you wait as long as we had to. it was the hardest thing, waiting.

Izabella · 05/03/2008 19:51

Hi Oj,

Two weeks! I am astounded. I can't believe they won't speed this up for you. I know you so want to bring Steve home but this delay is not your fault. Please don't feel guilty for not being able to bring him home earlier. Sorry you have to do yet more fighting for what you (and what you & Steve should rightfully have). Wish I could come over there and help you fight this battle.

I hope you dream up something lovely to do with the £300. I have sent you an e-mail. Hope you are able to have a bit of a rest tonight. xxx

39andcounting · 05/03/2008 19:52

My gut reaction OJ is that it would be confusing for Steve and oh so painful for you all for when he had to return to the Hospice.

If he could see the positive out of a couple of hours at home or out somewhere then that would be great.

As you would expect there is a large R+C waiting for you in the Sanctuary.

Whipsy fessed up today, she's not been working the streets as we thought !!

TheMadHouse · 05/03/2008 19:55

OJ - Just wanted to say that I hope the pannel is soon and that you are doing a wonderful job.

It must be hard for Elliot.

schmoopoo · 05/03/2008 19:56

OJ sorry if my comment was insensitive

onlyjoking9329 · 05/03/2008 19:56

it seems very unfair that Steve should have to wait, its not like he has lots of time really. I can't get Steve out he can hardly walk now. Fecking PC is playing up so am posting from my phone I can't get my emails or MSN.

OP posts:
WingsofanAngel · 05/03/2008 19:58

OJ I'm glad Steve liked the photos.
One step forward and two steps back. I hope that the panel meet soon. It seems so unfair this is a persons life they are dealing with.

Love and strength sent to you.

39andcounting · 05/03/2008 20:01

schmoopoo my response was not an attack on you, is a sensible suggestion.

39andcounting · 05/03/2008 20:25

OJ with my thread you will be up to 975 posts, do you want one of us to do something to continue the thread or can you do from your phone ?

onlyjoking9329 · 05/03/2008 20:33

Good thinking 39 you can start a new thread but link it here or I won't find it. It is a bit of a pain scrolling throu this long thread but I am astounded by how many posts are on here.
