OJ that's great that they will be monitoring visitors, so you get some proper time with him and the kids.

Good that your MIL's behaviour has been shown up.

So pleased that they are getting you some 24hr carers - at last.

Have you got people around who can help get the house sorted?

NorthernLurker · 29/02/2008 16:38

Steve's family just aren't living in the same world as you and him are they? I can understand that as the present reality is very hard for all of you but it's just one damn thing after another with them isn't it?

imaginaryfriend · 29/02/2008 16:53

Your MIL sounds even worse than mine OJ and that's sayiing something!

So glad Steve's coming home. Is he pleased?

Was he ever close to his mum by the way? Does he have any sense of what you're putting up with from her right now?

trulymadlydeeply · 29/02/2008 16:58

Really pleased that you got the result you hoped for, OJ. How is Steve in himself at the thought of coming home?

Have a lovely evening, celebrating your good news.

Don't know what to say about your MiL - beyond belief.

lucyellensmum · 29/02/2008 17:03

OJ So pleased you can have Steve at home and that you are going to get the help you so deserve. My uncle had a hospital bed in his conservatory and apparently got alot out of being able to look out over HIS garden etc.

Best wishes x x

TotalChaos · 29/02/2008 17:10

glad the meeting went OK. hope the sitters etc can be sorted out very soon.

seasidemama · 29/02/2008 17:13

Hope you can enjoy your evening tonight knowing that Steve is coming home OJ. Thinking of you.
xx

Tickle · 29/02/2008 17:27

So glad the meeting went well - it sounds very positive.

Any MNers in OJs area able to put the dining table etc in their garage?? I'm a bit far away...

robinpud · 29/02/2008 17:29

Glad to hear that even on the greyest days, there are some rays of hope. I know the system doens't always work, but it's lovely to hear that they are going tp put in place the right support for all of you so that Steve can be at home. Now you can look forward to that. Hope the visit goes well.

WingsofanAngel · 29/02/2008 17:50

I'm glad the meeting went well and that they have the measure of your MIL.
It's good that they are monitoring visiting too.

Klaw · 29/02/2008 18:59

That sounds great OJ! 24hr support for Steve, and therefore you, it's about bloody time!

onlyjoking9329 · 29/02/2008 19:15

it was a nice vist, we took a macdonalds in with us, one of the nurses brought the kids icecream and lemonade too
we didn't stay long steve was shattered.
i took a card in for steve to write for his mother for mothers day, he signed it from me too
steve doesn't know about the problems with his mother recently i don't think he needs to know, steve has never been close to his mum, before he was ill we would see her once every 3/4 weeks, she doesn't understand the kids at all which makes it hard.
i am very happy that steve will be at last coming home and will have 24 watch to keep him safe.

A good outcome from the meeting OJ

Well done you

trulymadlydeeply · 29/02/2008 19:30

Phew! What a relief that things are a bit more under control - well done OJ. You sound more positive, which is great.

Lots of love - so glad the visit went well. The hospice sounds FAB!

Hello OJ
Never posted before - but have followed the thread for a time. Just wanted to say how much you amaze me - I like to think I would have your wisdom and strength in such difficult circumstances - but I imagine I would not. All the very best

MaryBS · 29/02/2008 19:49

OJ, so glad to hear you are getting the care to help you with Steve. Take care of yourself and your lovely family. xxx

Buda · 29/02/2008 20:04

I am so glad that the SW and hospice staff are backing you up and being helpful.

Hoping you get Steve home soon.

lilyloo · 29/02/2008 20:20

OJ glad that things seem to be getting sorted out and you will get the help you deserve and what Steve needs.
Am sure someone on here lives near you to help with the storage of your furniture and blinds for the conservatory ?

Kindersurpise · 29/02/2008 20:35

Glad to hear that things went well at the meeting today, and that your MIL revealed her true colours to the docs. At least this way they can protect you and Steve from her interfering.

whispywhisp · 29/02/2008 21:02

OJ....no words...just stacks of xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Izabella · 29/02/2008 21:49

Oj, at last some good news.

I am so pleased that you will now have the round the clock care to allow Steve to come home and be with you & the children. That's where he belongs and I really hope he finds more peace once he's back with you as well.

Brilliant that you'll have more time alone and even find the opportunity just to hold each others hand or have a cuddle, things that remind you that you are still very much husband and wife despite the cancer.

Sending you lots of love and hope you sleep better tonight. xxx

imaginaryfriend · 29/02/2008 22:12

I think a big bunch of MNetters are breathing a sigh of relief that Steve's going home and will have a 24-hour watch service. It just feels like that's how it should be, you all together.

mummylin2495 · 29/02/2008 22:27

i am so glad for you that steve will be able to come home very soon, its great news to hear that he will be able to have carers for the whole time ,this will give you a much needed break and also you will be able to relax knowing that steve will be safe if you are not with him.

black31cat · 29/02/2008 22:31

wish i could say something remotely useful but i can't so i'm just sending hugs and thoughts instead.
