OJ - again wishes of strength for you and the family.
I had a little thought last night. . . I hope it's not too morbid or inappropriate, believe me when I say I have only the best intentions at heart.
Since my dd's were born I have saved favourite baby grows/special dresses etc and am making them into patchwork quilts for them when they are older. Like a memory box you can cuddle up in. Could you use that idea? Maybe Steve can look through his clothes, favourite pjs,t-shirts he wore at a special outing etc and some of the clothes the kids wore at special moments that he has loved. You could then make them into patchworks for the kids so they have something tangible and meaningful in later years. Don't worry if you're not into sewing and stuff I know the Arts & Crafts ladies would love to help (as would I - very very slowly but I'd help).

Think of you often and especially today, OJ.

funnybunny1 · 29/02/2008 09:34

OJ, I never know really what to say to you as life can be hard and cruel on good people and I can't imagine how life must be for you right now. I will be thinking of you today and hoping that a way is found for Steve to come home to you and your children. Take Care x

OJ I can't imagine what you are coping with every day. I just hope the meeting goes as well as it can for you and that you get the outcome that is best for you all.

onlyjoking9329 · 29/02/2008 15:50

will post more later as got to pick kids up soon.
meeting was ok, his mother turned up but was told to wait outside and she would come in at the end.
steve can come home but only once 24hr carers are in place as they feel is very high risk of suicide attempts.

that sounds (I think) like a good solution... Steve is where he wants to be, but you don't have the responsibility of trying to keep him ok.

how do you feel about it, oj?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/02/2008 15:54

How does that feel to you OJ?

hugs

LilRedWG · 29/02/2008 15:56

I'm glad they supported you re: his mother and also with regards to having Steve at home with you!

x

39andcounting · 29/02/2008 16:05

Iam soooo glad you can have your beloved at home with you. I am also pleased your monster in law was asked to wait.

Will wait for you to fill in the gaps and have a super dooper R+C at the ready.

TripleyTigger · 29/02/2008 16:20

O.J. so glad that you are getting some support to have Steve home. Its about time the medical service realized what an amazing job that you have been doing for all of this time on your own

When is everything going to be set up?
You must be so relieved O.J .x.x.x.

lilibet · 29/02/2008 16:29

Really pleased for you and I hope Steve is happy with it too.

You need this day to day help and support.

NorthernLurker · 29/02/2008 16:30

OJ - that sounds like a good plan then and gives you all something to aim for.

onlyjoking9329 · 29/02/2008 16:31

steves mobility is not good and he has lost a lot of weight and will be having a hospital bed here, i think the conservatory will be steves new bedroom, now to find a place to store dining table and 6 chairs and sort out getting some blinds for the conservatory.
i think it will be end of next week before sitters are in place.
steves mum said at the meeting that she always comes over to sit with steve if i need to go out
steves brother visted last night and brought him a photo in a frame with Fecking glass in it i mentioned it to steves mum as i didn't want to be the bad person that took the glass away.
later on i was talking to the SW and steves mum came over to us both and said that she had removed the glass.
10 mins later the doctor comes over and tells us that she went in steves room and that she removed the glass. so now they can see what she is like, they are monitoring visting to allow me and the kids to see steve on our own
i will be back later just taking the kids throu to see steve.
