For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh really? He could do that...

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 08:21

Morning chaps, I have eaten lentil shepherds pie, mushroom gravy, roast parsnips and roast carrots and beetroot, then about half a pineapple which was so zingy it took all the skin off the end of my tongue (or that's what it felt like)

this morning: kiwis, melon, banana, raisins

Vegan Friend left us a squash, which I tried to tease ds about this morning. "Look at the lovely melon!" "Don't be silly Mummy it is a spaghetti squash."

OP posts:
wheelybug · 06/02/2008 13:55

was going to post yesterday's intake in the evening but everyone looked like they were ahving too much fun to talk about f&v and I'd look like the saddo swot in the corner

So yesterday I had:
raisins
fruit salad (blueberries, raspberries, apple, grapes)
salad and hummus pitta with avacado on side
apple juice
greek salad for dinner
lemon on pancake (clutches at straws)

So far today
raisins
2 x satsumas
salad and hummus
apple juice
tonights dinner will be pasta with purple sprouting brocolli (I once went to a dinner party where people were discussing the merits of brocolli - 'purple sprouting brocolli is so much nicer than calabrese' etc - it was a riot )
Think have run out of fruit as going away on friday (where fruit intake will most probably be of the fermented grape variety ).

ahundredtimes · 06/02/2008 13:58

Impressed by Wheely.

Oh FGS who forgot to ask Franny, I thought Boco was going to tell her where we were all going?

Tatties · 06/02/2008 14:30

Well I am getting angry on another thread

FrayedKnot · 06/02/2008 15:11

Oh dear Tatties which thread?

Felting classes made me snort also

I am a disaster.

I went off virtuously to the gym last night to do my programme with the lovely Gavin and then an hour of yoga. Gavin who turned out to be not so lovely made me do all sorts of weights to try them out and then yoga lady made me do all sorts of wicked positions involving straps and elbows, and this morning when I woke up and rolled over one of the muscles in my shoulder went "ping" and I couldn't move

Luckily DH was on hand with ibuprofen and have managed to mobilize and get off to work but wothout the numbing effect of several hundred painkillers it is agony

Who said exercise was a good idea, hmm, hmm?

Tatties · 06/02/2008 15:19

Oh no FK! Have a warm bath tonight

There was a thing on telly this morning about extended bf, and I was just reading some very ill-informed comments on another forum which made me and

And now I am a bit [eek] as ds is having a nap (which he rarely does now) and I don't know how the hell I'm going to get him to bed tonight...

MissCreant · 06/02/2008 16:14

Was it that GMTV poll, Tatties, the one they didn't show last week? I wondered if they would announce the results.

Poor efforts today, though I am having acket potatoes with Brandon Rost and corn salad, green beans, avocado and fennel for dinner. Then it is running night though I don't feel like going today.

Boco · 06/02/2008 16:24

I'm giving a talk to 26 Brownies this evening I had a nightmare last night that I turned up and they were a combination of wild boar and chimps. I'm not sure what to say - for half an hour! Will take some pictures and wave them about and hope they're good Brownies.

I've had
raisins
apple
banana
tomatoes

MissCreant · 06/02/2008 16:50

What are you talking about at the brownies?

I dreamt something fell on the end of my bed and when I turned the light on it was another baby but an uglier version of F and when I told the hv she had me carted off in a white van as she said I was denying having twins. Very odd.

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 17:35

I dreamt seven midwives were dragging my legs apart and making me give birth in terrible positions. I think I had wind tbh

we are just about to have pasta with corn, cauliflower, carrots, and salad

FK I hope you are not too sore now! That's miserable for you.

Tatties thanks for the warning, I won't read about it I don't think. Sorry it has upset you.

lionheart · 06/02/2008 17:58

That made me wince, Franny , to help with fortification.

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 18:45

I just had some and now it is all gone
god am hungry
what can I eat? have just had big bowl of pasta, veggies, salad

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 18:46

OP posts:
lullabyloo · 06/02/2008 18:49

buckwheat pancakes with warm blueberries
pear,pomegranate & nectarine salad
walnuts
warm lentil, ginger, onion, garlic, spinach salad with heaps of watercress
loads of beetroot
roasted peppers & butterbean stew & large green salad

Ds went to nursery today YIPEE
they looked at his runny nose & hacking cough with utter disgust...but he has had it for weeks now & will probably have it for weeks more
aha but our super expensive honey has arrived now so we will soon be in absolute optimum health.

I went to ds's school to be to take birth cert etc for entry next January. There are 237 applicants so far for 70 places
The other two options are dire I mumbled something about home edding in that case & was givena very hard over the spectacles stare from the secretary.
Ho hum

Dh has gone down to Devon
I am glum glum glum

OverRated · 06/02/2008 19:20

Sorry you are feeling glum Lully. Delicious food though.

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 20:09

do you miss him when he is away Lully? or are you glum for some other reason?

I am feeling slightly flat today but I think I am just a bit tired and also you will all be sad to hear that Mr Avi is NOT coming on Friday. Nor indeed are Avi or her ds which is ALMOST as tragic

OP posts:
Tatties · 06/02/2008 20:11

Oh no Franny that's a shame

Well I am glum too but probably have less reason than any of you to feel so

ahundredtimes · 06/02/2008 20:16

Oh god that HE thread. I shouldn't go there. And I'm sure this is a BANNED topic here too, but honestly.

Someone walked by a stream on their way back from the village and talked about rivulets and tributaries and then said this would have taken 5 or 6 hours in a school lesson, but we could cover it in 45 minutes. It makes my head spin. As if nobody else has ever discussed a stream with their school attending child.

Sorry TooT, Franny and Avi. Sorry everyone, not very good Yurt speak.

WHY do they annoy me so much do you think?

ahundredtimes · 06/02/2008 20:17

Oh no.

I hit post message, and I didn't mean to. Ignore me.

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 20:19
OP posts:
Tatties · 06/02/2008 20:19

Oh but I have something to cheer you up:

I had made dinner tonight (quinoa with veggie chilli) while the boys were playing upstairs. I called them down and ds came running into the kitchen and as he saw his dinner shouted, "KEEN-WAAAAAHHHHH! HURRAH!"

And I thought Franny would be so proud

FrannyandZooey · 06/02/2008 20:20

LOL were you planning to delete it and not post, 100?

do you think it would be better if you didn't go on those threads? (I haven't seen the one you;re talking about so don#t know if it may have been in mainstream topic)

I don#t know, sometimes I enjoy a bit of annoyance and other times it is just TOO annoying. Then I ignore them. Have you a parp button you could use on yourself?
