For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Kiwis can come from France at this time of year, but you need to check obv.

I have AF related headache and have called DH an arse but we have talked, I have cried, and I think things are sorted. Honestly ruddy PMT, this month no sore boobs but a tendency to burst into tears every few minutes...

TooT the elderberry extract I had was lovely when I had my horrid cold, hope you are not suffering too muhc.

I've eaten muesli, toast, and scrambled eggs for supper, in stages, due to headache

FrannyandZooey · 23/01/2008 21:38

Zip have found lots more:

Kansas in August
Tree Surgery for Beginners
Facing the Tank
and
Little Bits of Baby

Which shall I send? the last two are my favourites, I would DEFINITELY want them back. Do you want to look on Amazon and choose which ones you fancy, or shall I just send those two?

OP posts:
ZippiBabes · 23/01/2008 21:39

ZippiBabes · 23/01/2008 21:40

when I did they were all gone

(confession: I don't enjoy his sensible and clever books as much as his early silly and clever ones. It is as if a very charming, camp, slightly outrageous friend started phoning you to talk about politics instead of gossip)

Hello! I had lovely brocolli and cheddar soup tonight instead of roast chicken or fish pie which I was going to make and I put the mince in the freezer.

TooT, I've replied to you on the running thread. Run! It's brilliant! I guess no-one's heard from Lull then? Hope she's ok.

How's the bump coming along Franny? I think of you often It's very exciting! I've got 3 other friends who are pregnant at the moment too. It's lovely!

Anyway I'd better make this quick cause it's 10 o'clock so I must away to bed. Keep on vegging all!

I might do an exercise spot check tomorrow!!!! [stern sargeant major face]

Tatties · 23/01/2008 22:10

FK you have my sympathy with the PMT... I have been particularly horrid this month I think, lots of sighing and shouting at dp (only when he was being an arse though )

TooTicky · 23/01/2008 22:32

Wheeze puff stupid cold gone to chest, barely talk. Bum.

TooTicky · 23/01/2008 22:56

Will go to bed then. Need to prop myself up with pillows really but I have only got one since the cat pooed on ds1's and I had to give him one of mine. I may borrow some badgers.

OverRated · 24/01/2008 02:02

Be careful Toot, I think Badgers poo on pillow too

So, let see:

Franny has to go to the post office
and Zippi is getting a book from her
Tatties & FK have had PMT related emotional upsets this month
PSW is our new exercise guru

Did I miss anything?

is it clementyne or clementeen?

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2008 08:23

(tyne)

3 kiwis, half a rotten pear, banana, raisins

last night was not a raging success

OP posts:
TooTicky · 24/01/2008 09:06

Not these badgers They used to share a bed with ds1.

Tyne.

Puff.

Franny, what happened?

MrsCarrot · 24/01/2008 10:00

Are you alright, Franny?

I am exhausted too, been up hafl the night with a teething baby and I ache all over, not sure if it was the run or lack of sleep.

TigerFeet · 24/01/2008 10:20

Tyne

What happened last night Franny?

Sympathy and indeed empathy and sisterhood all round - I had a shocking night here. DD has a cough and a raging temp. I am attempting to work from home today as we are too busy at work for me to take the day off. [sigh] Of course she has been calpoled and is currently wrapping herself in sellotape she has scavenged from somewhere. I suppose I should stop her really.

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2008 12:34

oh god you have all had tons worse nights than me [shame over undeserved sympathy]

sorry mine was very minor, it was just disappointing because was first night with the timer and the clock and everything. When the nightlight came on apparently it clicked, which woke him up at 6 am. Not quite the plan. He wanted to go back to sleep but couldn't, so I said ok just wait until clock says 7 (this was only 6.20 really so not long to wait) and then come in. Approx five minutes later he appeared. "My clock says 7 now!" Indeed it did. 6.47 (sigh). So we all got up at 6.15. [yawn]

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 24/01/2008 12:39

Oh dear - how about not having the nightlight then he will wake up when he's ready? If the hall light is still on, it won't be dark and he can turn his lamp on himself to read.

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2008 13:02

mmm, I think the possible problem is that he wakes up at 5 am thinking it is morning. I did want to giove him a cue about when he really should be going back to sleep. But yes maybe you are right.

we're planning to try an electronic timer next which hopefully won't click. But I forgot to buy it in town. Arrrgh.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 24/01/2008 13:08

Franny, could he go to bed later?

Am still wheezing merrily. Well, actually not very merrily.

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2008 13:10

noooo, it makes no odds and we like him going at 7 pm tbh

it is ok if this doesn't work, but i think it might if we can just get the technology right

Toot there's a thread in AC atm from Megalegs asking about homeopathy to calm her while she prepares for her son's operation. Could you advise her at all? I hadn't a clue.

OP posts:
TooTicky · 24/01/2008 13:53

Okay then.
IF Easter was a good time for a meet up, I know some people - well, Franny - would really prefer it to be indoors.
SO, is there a way that we can do indoors sort of on a budget?
I did have a tentative look at city farms a while ago - possible rooms to hire, interesting for children, etc. Eating facilities (which I know some people would prefer to bringing own food) vary greatly.
It was a thought, anyway.

TooTicky · 24/01/2008 13:53

Sorry Franny, that looks as if I'm singling you out in a rather pointy way, and I'm not.

FrannyandZooey · 24/01/2008 16:39

LOL

is lunch somewhere cheap + cheerful too expensive? I am probably being dim about what on a budget means so apologies. Am I actually the only one who wants it to be indoors? March (and early April) is usually unrelentingly pissy and cold IME (yes am wimp instead of true hardcore vegger) but if everyone else wants to be intrepid then you mustn't hold back on my account, nonononono

I like city farms but they do tend to be outdoors, don't they. Did I miss something there, as well?

OP posts:
OverRated · 24/01/2008 16:45

What a clever boy you have, Franny.

Sorry so many of you had a bad night.

It's -30'C here atm I have never been so cold
