Dancing greens, feel the beet of the tangerine - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Succotash is a posh word for bean salad

I heart google

3andnomore · 21/01/2008 21:19

gosh, just posted on the other thread...

3andnomore · 21/01/2008 21:20

Post of the other thread, lol

hmmm...1.20m is in germany the normal single bed size (so, sheets would be available at Lidl and Aldi when they do their sheet offers).....what size are UK single bed then? Because DS.s midsleepers and highsleepers all seem to be 1.20m , too and so were their bunkbeds...any bed really bar the cot.
In germany you can get an inbetween size of 1.30 ( a fair few sofa beds, that are full lenght and colapse sideways are that size....) and then of course it's double bed and up....

anywya...veggies turned out slightly different then mentioned above....Spinach, Carrots and Parsnips (yum)

so 6 different fruit and veg today

must say I am lost in teh conversation as not followed all of it....what else then beds are you talking about?

FrannyandZooey · 21/01/2008 21:23

I am not too sure myself 3and, meet ups, orange peel and wasps' nests, it looks like

I forgot to do my food, I have had spinach, rocket, tomato, cucumber and chickpea salad, for lunch, with 3 satsumas (peel composted)

broccoli and corn with gnocchi in a c*^%$e sauce for dinner, plus 3 satsumas (peel awaiting some kind of compost ruling)

am going to eat more satsumas
do we have a record for satsuma eating? Is it 100?

OP posts:
3andnomore · 21/01/2008 21:25

Well, am going to try to keep up with you lot...so, bloody post slower, right, lol!

Never knew that about orange peel...we aren't big orange eaters...I used to use it mainly in Juice (what a sentence, used to use in Juice...try saying that when pissed)

Meet up...I so would love to meet you all, am still upset that I missed the last one....at the moment finances are, still an issue and well, future is a bit all over the place....but I will keep an open mind at the mo, would depend on what sort of meet up...i.e. if it could, would be expensive or not, lol!

3andnomore · 21/01/2008 21:26

lol franny

TigerFeet · 21/01/2008 21:32

100 satsumas or 100 eating the satsumas?

I can eat lots of them in a day (record about 10 or 12 I think) hence the peel dilemma.

BBBee · 21/01/2008 21:37

satsuma eating comp - that would be good. It will help our vit-C. Have any 10/10ers had noro (should I not jinx us??)

I have had a very citrusy day - juice, variuos versions of the small orange things, three big orange things, orange juice, an apple and the aforementioned disgusting leek and potato rissotto that waas actually edible with all the extra cheese.

I am working two days a week in an office in the middle of nowhere so I will take lots of fruit with me and maybe soup.

FrannyandZooey · 21/01/2008 21:41

(best not mentioned I think Bee)

don't compost the remains of your food from today if any! sounds like we are all craving vit c

tiger I meant 100x but 100 satsumas would be quite impressive

funnily enough my first MN name was tangerinecath, I had to change quickly as I had a blog under the same name and ex-employer found it and the not-particularly-nice things I said about them online so tangerinecath was erased

nothing to do with the citrus fruit though - it was an homage to Blackpool Football Club which was where I wasted most of my money pre-dd

Hello all,

I am back from Lunnon, exhausted and a bit fed up . Went to London last thursday for an interview for DH, and a family do last minute. All of us have stinking colds, DS is teething and keeps biting me when BFing, I have lost my voice, and DH and I are in dilemma about job, as on paper is a mch better paid job, but with no job security. Think we have decided he won't take it, as it would mean him being in London 3 days a week. Feel a bit wrung out for a job he isn't going to take. The kids are tired too.

Have had pineapple, black chickpeas, lentil dahl, raisins and cherries, pear and apple.

Got to drive to trowbridge and back tomorrow, not looking forward to it, and back to London and back on Wed. Am exhausted just thinking about it.

FrannyandZooey · 21/01/2008 22:18

you poor beggar

(whatare black chickpeas?)

pinkspottywellies · 21/01/2008 22:22

Er, don't be too in awe! But I'm going NOW though. Come on Franny. Up to bed with you. No excuses. Log off. Night night (read whatever smut you like)

wombling · 21/01/2008 22:31

Thanks Franny,

I promise I will get those things in the post to you this week, when I get to draw breath!

Black chick peas are much smaller than the beige variety, and have reddish black skins. V tasty, especially as not cooked by me. I love proper gujerati style rice and daal. It is real comfort food for me. DS has been hooveering it up too, mixed with lots of natural yoghurt. Yum.

MrsCarrot · 21/01/2008 22:33

that was weird, franny, another baby carrot thread, today of all days. I wonder if people will confuse us. I saw a missusC earlier too.

Don't worry - I am not about to embark on another name bore!

Party was great, actually, several glasses of champagne always helps. F loved it and wasn't happy with his slice of cake he wanted the whole lot so I gave it to him after everyone had a piece. He had great fun shoving his hands in.

wombling · 21/01/2008 22:36

OOh!

Happy Bithday to little F MrsC! Cannot believe that he is already one. It sounds like he had a fab birthday too.

MrsCarrot · 21/01/2008 22:41

Thanks

Will put some pictures on when I get a chance

IdrisTheDragon · 21/01/2008 22:43
