For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

HI All

Oh Franny...those norty Mangoes

Well, was Parent coffeemonrning/m&t today...where I am the messy play person (which is hilarious really, considering that I hate messy play, lol)....and it was quite good. We are getting more and more parents and Kids through the door

As for f&v...so far Banana, Kiwi and Apple.
Did have veggie soup (but was a packet one, so...not really that great in actual veggie content, lol...
Will have stew later...with all sorts so, that will give me a great variety

FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 13:41

oh I love you bravely being the messy play person even though you don't like it, 3and

have you done cooked spaghetti with food colouring added to make it look like alien worms or something? That is my favourite

OP posts:
3andnomore · 22/01/2008 13:59

We so far only did dry pasta and glue and pics...

well, I do the arty and messsy play stuff...and do what I am told to do...lol...

last week we did hand printing

we hvae done Jelly and custard in a big tub, and angel delight and sprinkles, and such like....

Boco · 22/01/2008 14:09

Hello Veggers. I'm having an A&E dilemma on another thread, dd2 has had a wrist injury. I kind of think it's just a sprain, but the nurse said take her for an xray if no better in case she has a little fracture, and it's no better, but i can't decide. Crazy volunteer woman at the baptist toddler group swung her round by her wrists. She's in lots of pain and ibuprofen isn't doing it. Hmm, will give myself half an hour to decide i think.

FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 14:09

ooh jelly and custard! I bet that went down well

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 14:09

oh dear Boco

walk in centre?

OP posts:
3andnomore · 22/01/2008 14:10

the Kids were enjoying it, yeah....in the end it looked utterly disgusting though...like sick

Boco, I would take her, tbh...if she is in that much pain...

TooTicky · 22/01/2008 14:30

Boco, poor dd. If it is constantly painful then get it checked. I am no expert but remember when dd1 dislocated her elbow (when she was too young to talk about it) and it was the ongoing pain that made me get her checked.

Franny, in case it's of any interest, dp can print clocks

TooTicky · 22/01/2008 14:39

OR, that chocolate prune cake looks good

FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 15:22

TooT we were thinking about an alarm clock as he can read some numbers on a digital display, but has no clue about analogue

however that is interesting, I will remember that...

Boco hope DD is OK & you are seeking help.

DS didn;t get up until 7am this morning! Hallejbloodylujah! Sorry to you, Franny, tho, for the early start.

I think our problem is a combination of empty tummy and being scared of the dark, so my plan is for him to have some supper just before bed if he wants, and also a nightlight (he has a torch at the moment), or maybe a light on the landing.

DS is intirgued by time but would definitely do the "the clock says 2, Mummy, does it mean waking up time"

Strange about the mat pay, but agree about needing to continue as well as actually possibly enoying it!

lionheart · 22/01/2008 17:52

Boco hope your dd is o.k.

How do you print clocks?

FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 18:27

Oh no FK I am sure it was your turn to have a lie in. I am thinking about leaving some snacks for ds for when he wakes up in the morning - not so much that he is hungry (usually eats a massive dinner shortly before bed) but it will occupy him for a while

I have felt really jaded today and I look like crap - messy hair and lifeless skin. Waiting for the blooming bit - it isn't here yet

OP posts:
BBBee · 22/01/2008 18:29

hello

2 apples
2 clementines
tomatoes
onion
orange juice

oh that is crap - I thought it was better than that.

Boco - I am of the see how it is in the morning set - well not if it is deperate - if you are going to go go soon before the drunks kick in.

BBBee · 22/01/2008 18:30

3andno - sorry never did the final read through what I saw it was very good adn will be fine.

Boco · 22/01/2008 18:37

Hello we're back, was fine. Doctors (we managed to see 3 for some reason) decided it was a dislocated elbow that had gone back in on its own because of where the pain is. And it's sprained. She's just taking pain killers and is happier although still not using it yet. The consultant was just like Alan Partridge and you could see all the others were so irritated by him that they could barely speak, so that made for an amusing time.

ZippiBabes · 22/01/2008 18:39

hello i shall post on here instead of tryong to lure postees on to my ever so popular thread lol

apple and banana and two more banas and a red pepper and cherry tomatoes and leaves and er chicken in curried yogurt

hope boco dd better soon and frannys hair and the other things i have forgotten

FrayedKnot · 22/01/2008 18:54

Boco glad to hear DD has been seen and is on the mend. It sounds like it must have been v. painful for her at the time though, poor thing

Franny I left DS with an apple for the morning but he didn;t eat it until DH went to get him up..perhaps that was the reassurance he needed today

He is verrrrrry tired tonight and is screaming upstairs wit DH and I am trying not to go and interfere because DH is crap with him when he's like this but I feel I need to let him get on with it sometimes.

I have learnt one of life's valuable lessons today. Playdough (the shop bought type) and water don;t really mix, do they?

F&V has been marvellous today. Big bowl of fruit salad with melon, blueberries, kiwi and grapes; dried fruit; salad with lettuce, cucumber, sweetcorn, cress, tomato, onions, coleslaw for lunch; aubergine & lentil / potato, broccoli and coconut curries for supper.

Tatties · 22/01/2008 19:10

Gosh Boco poor dd Hopefully she won't be in pain for long.

Franny I also got a good deal for MA (but I wasn't bothered about going back to work) Do you normally work over the summer holidays? I would apply for it anyway then see how you feel. You could always stop the payments if you want to get back to work sooner than you anticipate.

Ds was funny today, I think he let slip about my birthday present (which I know dp told him about yesterday) I don't think he has quite got to grips with the notion of 'secret' yet

FrannyandZooey · 22/01/2008 19:39

FK gets the badge for today I think

I am slipping sadly behind - dp is cooking and it involves oven chips.

Tatties I will definitely apply, as I plan to be off work for about 4 months (if not more). I don't know if it is feasible to go back so soon after (bearing in mind I will be at least partly caring for my own children at the same time as working) but I am hoping to give it a go. I do normally work in the summer holidays, yes, but at least this way there is a natural kind of break, when lots of groups close anyway, if I stop in June and aim to open again in October.

Please remind us when your birthday is Tatties? Ds has been hilarious about secret presents this year - it has been the first year he has been determined to keep the secret instead of just saying "we've got you an X!" as soon as dp walks in the door. However he ALWAYS blows it, and then draws huge attention to the fact that he has, by trying to cover it up really badly. I love it.

FK if you can be arsed to make your own playdough it is so nice. It always calms me down and ds loves having a huge lump, not just piddly little pots full.

Tatties · 22/01/2008 20:10

It is Saturday Franny. It was hilarious, ds was all relaxed having a feed, then out of the blue said the offending word twice. Then, "Mummy...[insert name of present]...upstairs." I asked, "is it a secret?" and he nodded

BBBee · 22/01/2008 20:25

oh that is lovely tatties - all milky and sleepy and secret - how wonderfully wonderful.

I am supposed to be writing a presentation on the effects on children of having depressed parents. I don't like it - it is - well - depressing.

FrayedKnot · 22/01/2008 20:42

Oh dear BBBee..it sounds

I can;t believe I won the badge when I am about to start AF

Tatties it is nice to know what you have to look forward to

I have things I ought to be doing and I'm not

Like sorting out two years of paperwork

ZippiBabes · 22/01/2008 20:47

isnt there someone on this thread who reviews music..have u heard of gay for johnny depp?

OverRated · 22/01/2008 20:52

I think it must be a bd time for mangoes - we had some rotten c*nting ones last week - very off-putting.

about the maternity allowance. What work do you do, Franny?

Boco - hope DD's wrist gets better soon, am glad it is nothing more serious and that the trip to the Drs was amusing!

Thanks for sharing your new wisdom re play-doh and water, FK. I didn't know that one andd am glad I didn't have to learn it myself

BBBee, I'd actually be very interested in your presentation - it is a concern I have
