For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

MrsCarrot · 01/02/2008 18:03

I often think quinoi looks like, um, better not say

fullmoonfiend · 01/02/2008 18:03

Don't even joke about such things....

My mother once went wild in a chinese supermarket and bought a load of random things for a feast. One of which was a small tin with pictures of mountain pine, clouds, sunrise etc. The tin said Dream Rice Birds on and she thought ''how pretty. This rice will be nice.''

When dear mamma opened the tin, she screamed and screamed as around 20 teeny tiny whole jellied fledging chicks fell out.....feet, beaks and all

quinoa is fab with chicken/quorn/tofu (dependant on level of vegginess), broccoli and spring onion. I cook it in stock. Only discovered it about 6 months ago and I lurve it - it's like guilt free comfort food.

Another shocking f&v day today. We had supplies in today to provide lunch for an auditor - the auditor never turned up so it was decimated in the office at lunchtime. Mango and grapes were involved too so not all bad. And an M&S smoked salmon and soft cheese butty. Yum.

DH is home later tonight after a business trip away so he can collect me some veg from work tomorrow so I can redeem myself.

Boco · 01/02/2008 18:07

Hello Lully, not seen you about for ages - sorry to hear your ds is ill. How are you feeling?

TigerFeet · 01/02/2008 18:07

Not mango. Melon. Still don't trust -_cunting-- mangoes

lullabyloo · 01/02/2008 18:10

reminds me of being 14 & a strict vegan...on holiday in Spain, having whirlwind romance with beautiful Persian Doctor, invited for dinner by his friends who served up deep fried battered little birds & dipping sauce
They picked them up by the feet ,dipped & ate the lot...little mound of feet on the deges of plates.....
...that was very nearly the end of a very beautiful relationship

ZippiBabes · 01/02/2008 18:12

good i hope franny likes books

boco is wildly popular for her intriguingnesses i see

i was very inebriated brave and rang the climber last night just to chat

i am going to have a week of less mn and more reading and no msn and hope this will lead to going to bed earlier..can't be hard gpoing to bed earl;ier as I have been going at 4 am lately

a tin of little birds sounds absolutely horrid

that happened to me on a french exchange we went to a restaurant and the family ordered for me and whole tiny birds appeared pon my plate..lik larks it was awfully sad

lullabyloo · 01/02/2008 18:13

MMMMMmmmm...no cunting mangoes here...just lovely juicy dribbly ripe ones...we are having some with passionfruit for pud.

Havn't seen you for ages have you been on hols yet?

TigerFeet · 01/02/2008 18:14

I lived in Hong Kong for a couple of years aged 11-13 (forces child) and all the dim sum restaurants served deep fried chicken feet. I had one - nothing to it at all, jsut some chewy skin and some bones. Not sure I could handle an entire small bird though. THe cat only leaves the feet when he eats birds too.

fullmoonfiend · 01/02/2008 18:14

allouette!

lullabyloo · 01/02/2008 18:14
Sad
Boco · 01/02/2008 18:16

Yes, had a lovely holiday thanks. I'd love to be wildly intriguing - I'm going to scour that thread for my name - i only saw it once.

TigerFeet · 01/02/2008 18:20

[intrigued]

ZippiBabes · 01/02/2008 18:20

once boco you must have selective modesty

OverRated · 01/02/2008 18:20

at all these stories of whole birds but FMF's story did make me laugh.

OverRated · 01/02/2008 18:21

And on which thread is Boco wildly intriguing? Not that you're not on here of course.

lullabyloo · 01/02/2008 18:22

what was this intriguing thread..?
I've been away toooooo long me thinks

OverRated · 01/02/2008 18:26

lullabyloo, I just looked at your profile. What amazing pictures. Are you a photographer? You look very glamourous

Boco · 01/02/2008 18:26

I've been back over it zippi and i think you imagined it. I find 2 cases of intriguing somebody. That is not wildly, that's mildly.

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 18:28

oh you know that paddle boat we were bidding for from the council, to make a sandpit for ds with? we have won it [fear]

YOU all said it was a good idea! wtf shall we do with it now! They are delivering it next friday and I have no idea what state it is in and omg what have I done

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 01/02/2008 18:34

You have won a paddle boat, franny

I noticed Boco was intriguing, as was Franny. lol at mildly not wildly. Have you seen the counte thread, where everyone says they are too nice to be intriguing and that have real lives?

I see no-one asks what i think quinoi looks like, hmm?

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 18:35

people always say I am intriguing and that
Ihave said it before but I wish people in RL thought me half as doggone interesting as some people on here do

MrsC I have. Yes. What do you think? Tell me the worst.

OverRated · 01/02/2008 18:36
