For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

OR, I keep forgetting you're not in England and being surprised at your routine

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 16:55

OverRsted you need Kiki superfood

Lully I have so miised your marvellous breakfasts - have you had a basil smoothie lately? So sorry ds was badly ill again - scary for you. What a fab job mothers do in the middle of the night - how bloody important it is and how unrecognised

Kiki superfood?

And Basil Smoothies?

I just tried my mango and it was Really Good. It restored my faith in them. How much counts as a portion? I had to go halves with DS

OverRated · 01/02/2008 17:19

Tooticky, I think even people here would be surprised by today's routine. We'll be having lunch at 11:30 at this rate. That's not too early is it?

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 17:25

the portion chart says "2 x 2 inch slices" of a mango

what does that mean? since when did anyone get 2 2inch slices from a mango?

I would say one decent sized mango = 2 portions

So. No laughing at me please. But I have actually purchased some quinoa. (I am a die-hard lentil-lover, no time for these new-fangled options...)
Quick and tasty ways of serving it please...?

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 17:30

I may even try it this week (even though I think it sounds scary)
we have basil
ah we have no juicer though

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 17:31

FMF WASH IT FIRST
boil as you would rice etc (when little tails start to come away it is done)
just serve as a grain with a meal, like you would rice, couscous
(with dollop of soy sauce if you are soy sauce fan like me)
