For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

PSW sorry I have judged. Was it white bread? was there sauce? was there butter?

are you and the orange one still running?

TooTicky · 31/01/2008 23:12

Bee, are you going to eat cake with them? Franny says they are not going to the chocolate and coconut place, so I shall just be wistful and not agonised.

Avi, where have you beeeeeeeeeen?

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2008 23:16

Cheap white bread, marg on one piece, tomato sauce on the other. Grilled bacon, fried egg (only in frylite tho - not greasy). Yum.

But I think I get the Banana Skin Booby Prize for only having one portion today. Oh no I had a tomato too. Small but not cherry.

Hi Avi!

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2008 23:17

Yes we're still running. Come and join us on the running thread. I'm on week four of the podcasts and I'm doing really well

PSW well done on your running. Am very imporessed with anyone who can run. I was designed not to. And you had the perfect bacon sandwich You can't even get normal bacon over here. Or bread for that matter. BTW the best bacon butty to be had is at Bournemouth (International) Airport. Def worth a trip just for the sarnie. Someone told me that ketchup counts as a portion over here but that could just be a vicious rumour.

Avi, am glad your travels went well. I think I'd have snuck into the loo if I'd been in your shoes but it makes me to think that people feel like this. For a moment I thought it was the business man thrusting his hand up and down your top

And I'm sure you'll all be relieved to know that my snottiness and general misery is not due to illness but teething. That's right. 30 and teething.

FrannyandZooey · 01/02/2008 08:30

Morning chaps
banana, raisins, orange, pear

Overrated teething is CRAP isn't it? My wisdom teeth took about 2 decades to come through and it ruddy does hurt.

I want a bacon sandwich. I want ruddy everything. I am the size of a small maisonette.

morning
pineapple,pear,raspberry,banana salad
bowl of quinoa

carrot,apple & ginger juice.

I cannot believe that I havn't had a whiff off fresh air since Saturday ...I am longing ,longing, longing for a walk..well just to escape for an hr really.
Ds has only been to nursery one morning this term,he has been continually ill for months now.
The night before last was mightily scary..he woke up screaming & delirious with a scorching temp that was off the scale. He was rigid & screaming for me but couldn't see me.
Cue me having mild hysteria, wondering whether to call an ambulance, cursing dh for being away again etc etc
However..by 5.30 am & much screaming from ds & panic, tears, doom from me I managed to sponge ds to a cooler state(105) & he slept.
He is just full of cold and has a hacking c ough now....I feel like I've climbed everest tho

I am awaiting the post for some outlandishly expensive super honeymy grandmother has insisted we must eat in order to restore our health.Apparantly manuka 15 is old hat now .I am trying to imagine what kind of super bees make £40 honey....rarest of rare orchid bees from timbuctoo or something? The mind boggles.Mine is truly boggled anyway.

lullabyloo · 01/02/2008 09:52

Overrated...I grew up in Bournemouth

hated it actually

TooTicky · 01/02/2008 15:37

Avi, at you feeling you had to bf in the loo. Especially a train loo.

Lully, what a hellish night. You and ds need a medicinal sunny holiday I think.

We went to a beach near Bournemouth last year - Bos-something? Quite a tame beach. Dcs had fun. Peculiar people there though - v. expensive car parked up, lots of smaller and scruffier cars kept visiting it briefly.

lullabyloo · 01/02/2008 15:41

Boscombe?

lullabyloo · 01/02/2008 15:41

sounds dodgy

TooTicky · 01/02/2008 15:48

Yes, Boscombe, that's it.

OverRated · 01/02/2008 15:48

Boscombe, Toot - my sister lives near there. The walk along the front or cliff top is very pretty, especially in winter. The car thing does sound a little suspect though.

Lully, I need to hear a report on this new magic honey - I would be willing to spend almost any amount if it made me feel better. I have a temperature again today and desperately want to go out for some fresh air but we're in the middle of a blizzard.

Off to make some parmesan parsnips for lunch.
