For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

aaagh have just been oiut to the spare house and it has a leak where the water meter is so soaking into the wall

i have had three bananas two apples

but potentially still dinner to come

maybe your parcel will arrive tomorrow franny

i am being well behaved today

FrayedKnot · 31/01/2008 20:19

Things were a little racy last night weren;t they

I think I am coming to eat cake, don;t think I'll bother with the sarnies, tbh. God, I try not to eat too much wheat normally and I am agreeing to come to a wheatfest

Today I've had my big bowl of fruit, red cabbage, peas, and some chickpea fritters...not brilliant, not dreadful, I suppose.

I want to know about the following:

100 and Johnny Jet
Avi's nephew (gt?) coming to stay or not
How Franny's mornings are these days

Answers on a cabbage leaf please

OverRated · 31/01/2008 20:30

'ello

I want to know about FK's questions too. No F&V cos I'm ill & feeling sorry for myself and haven't had time to go shopping and it's too snowy.

I did have 2 slices of tomato

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2008 20:33

FK we had several days where he just slept until the clock said 7 anyway (this ranged from 6.20 to 6.45) - he still liked the fact he can tell whether it is too early or not

however yesterday we set it to 6.45 and he appeared at about 6.15 saying "it isn't 7 but I couldn't resist coming in". He said he had not tried to read books or anything - excuse was the books on his bedside were not interesting enough - so it could take a little ongoing work to ensure continued success. I put some more interesting library books there for this morning, and he complained "I didn't even have time to read ONE book before it said 7!" I explained he didn't HAVE to come in straight away....he looked at me as if to say "fool woman"

on the whole it has been a definite winner SO FAR. I would ask again in a month or so.

yes how is the dog

i have had watercress and broccolli and leaves and baked potato..which is obvs a fruit

i have been faffing about in the spare house imagining a plumber but he was unsuccessfully visualised so i have locked it back up again

OverRated · 31/01/2008 20:48

zippi, please tell me you are joking about any of those being a fruit. I just couldn't cope with losing 2 vegetables in one week

Glad the clock thing seems to be going ok Franny. Sounds like a good start to me.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2008 20:52

DON'T PANIC
I have cordoned off all the vegetables
zippi cannot take them from us

Franny SKIRT!

What happened about your Christmas skirt? I have been meaning to ask you

pinkspottywellies · 31/01/2008 20:58

I've had apple juice. Oh god. Only 1 portion but I've been running

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2008 21:00

oh Tatties I was too fat
my stomach bump is HUGE
it's like a big pot belly from my bust down to my groin

I did find another very nice but comedy skirt with elasticated waist. The comedy part was because I bought it on eBay and from the front (in the photo) it looked like a nice slightly unusual skirt. From the back it was more like INSANE RIOT OF PSYCHEDELIC FLOWERS Someone had made it out of some 70s material - it is quite fun. I may wear it to eat scones in.

BBBee · 31/01/2008 21:04

hello

that skirt sounds nice

i have been poorly today so have eaten nothing and then have just had a little lift and ate four pieces of cheese on toast with tomato sauce. It was white bread.

Should I just leave now?

Tatties · 31/01/2008 21:04

Oh that's a shame, it did look lovely

The new comedy one sounds interesting

Are you taking photos of your bump? I was showing ds some of my pregnant photos the other day and my, I was HUGE by the end. And I'm only little.

BBBee · 31/01/2008 21:06

zippi

i get up at four

ffs go to bed earlier - and don't pretend you are doing this coffee free!

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2008 21:07

Bee no please stay and prettify the thread with your presence
are you coming to eat pastry with me?

Tatties I will see if I can find the photo of the comedy one. The other one was tbh too short as well, otherwise I could have squeezed into it, but I kind of had to wear it around my hips and it had a very deep waistband. I should sell it, or give it to charity. Instead I am pining over it - it was lovely material and a lovely colour and would have been SO nice with a black polo neck and boots as discussed

OP posts:
Tatties · 31/01/2008 21:27

MrsCarrot · 31/01/2008 21:29

eat cakes, drink champagne in posh hotel.

FK - what do mean you will avoid the sarnies? Lol, I Will Not Think about the state of my gut on the way home - I will not.

Pineapple, berries, banana, pear and yoghurt granola. Beans on toast with musshrooms and tomato. Chilli tina steak with purple sprouting and griddled courgettes. Mmm. A nut ball.

And, I have been running again. We are averaging twice a week and I am really noticing the difference.
