Dancing greens, feel the beet of the tangerine - 10 / 10 thread

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Did you say cake?
where is this invitation for cake?

lionheart · 30/01/2008 21:41

Ho hum.

You are all on the other, less cerebral threads.

lionheart · 30/01/2008 21:42

I think it is a meet up plan for tea at a v. posh hotel in London.

ZippiBabes · 30/01/2008 21:53

cake is the new sex

lionheart · 30/01/2008 21:54

You've got a point there (but you may well scare Olivia if you say so).

Boco · 30/01/2008 22:18

I would be interested to do a search of zippibabes and see how many times she mentions the word SEX. Shall we place bets. I'm going with 35.

MrsCarrot · 30/01/2008 22:29

I see - go out for supper and come back to pages of chat. Will read thread. God I'M FULL.

MrsCarrot · 30/01/2008 22:55

God - I am not sitting on the floor at Franny's feet with you sycophants, I am right up there on the chair with the pastry. Ahhhhhh, pastries, teeny tiny flakey beautiful things on dinky plates and iced wonders stacked on stands and tea for Franny and champagne for me, and Zippi of course, and Tatties?

Peas are legumes. I do not care if it is a fruit in english or whatever, it is a vegetabe in my book. A fruit? A fruit?

I have been out to eat and I had a trio of baba ganoush, borschty stuff and houmous - haloumi and aubergine wheels, chorizo with butter bean, anchovy bread, spinach tortilla and green salad, orange and polenta cake and fizz. Mmmm.

TooTicky · 30/01/2008 23:01

That sounds like quite a meal MrsC.

TooTicky · 30/01/2008 23:03

Although anchovy bread is a decidedly iffy idea.

ZippiBabes · 30/01/2008 23:03

that sounds scrummy hunny

i havent had an anchovy in ages

yeah i was on mn for years and never said anythiojg about sex no wi am obsessed

MrsCarrot · 30/01/2008 23:12

That thread was funny. Some of the things they say, 'I'm gonna do you tonight' says one, I mean please!

The anchovy bread was strange. It was kind of a wheel and I think it was more like gentlemens relish than an actual anchovy, very savoury.

ZippiBabes · 30/01/2008 23:13

yum gentlemens relish could do with that too

MrsCarrot · 30/01/2008 23:14

The waitor said he didn't want us to be offended, and that it wasn't because we'd ordered too much food of course, but he was just going to push another table up to ours so we were more comfortable.

MrsCarrot · 30/01/2008 23:15

Zippi - I mean the spread!

TooTicky · 30/01/2008 23:25

MrsC, I keep intending to email you and not doing it. But I will. I am up to my ears in children this week. Ds2 is genuinely ill and ds1 is staying off school partly because he might possibly be slightly ill and partly because it seems mean to send him to school when the other 3 are at home. And we are having No Television Or Computer during school hours. Which is good, because it means they actually speak to me. And each other.
Damn screens!

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2008 08:38

LOL at "another table to be more comfortable". oh it sounds great. Will it be like that when we have tea? Oh I hope so, except it won't because even another plate of sandwiches will cost £19 or something. [cold feet] is this definitely a good idea? I mean, we do eat quite a LOT. Will we end up hungry with tiny little pastries inside us and empty pockets?

35, Boco? What, in the last hour perhaps?

have eaten pear, melon, banana, grapes, raisins (small portions again). Am working way up to former glories

lionheart · 31/01/2008 09:26

I am imagining a swish waiter wheeling a trolley full of goodies up to us and little cake stands and

cucumber sandwiches and dowagers and ladeez with expensive shoes and manicures.

lionheart · 31/01/2008 09:27

Or a pannini and a custard tart to share because that's all that we could afford.

ladywombling · 31/01/2008 09:38

Hello all,

Have been a bit incommunicado, as laptop has died, so no internet access at home.

Will read thread now.

Franny/TooT, could you email me again. I cannot get access to my old emails at the moment, until DH manages to reboot the laptop, and I need to ask you something to send your stuff to you. I have a tidy box sitting in my hall, waiting for the post office, Thanks.

MrsCarrot · 31/01/2008 09:43

I think

it is probably

a very good idea

indeed

IdrisTheDragon · 31/01/2008 10:11

Hello .

I am eating fruit .

I haven't dared go onto the threads about sex and such things. Might try later.

I can't come to the meet-up. I am . I was about to tell DH about it and he said "oh by the way I have to be in Liverpool from Sunday (ie the day of the meet-up) until about Tuesday or Wednesday". So I didn't say about the meet-up.

I could bring DS and DD but have no urge to as it wouldn't at all be a nice cake eating tea experience with them .

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2008 14:29

very sorry to hear people who can't come

lionheart is coming and more are thinking about it

I have eaten small portion raw salad bits at lunch. Am feeling tired again [whine]

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 31/01/2008 15:06

Good lord what on earth did they put in the water yesterday??? pretend Came on for a quick lurk between ironing and tea eating and you were all being filthy

why can't you do that when I have time to join in? I can be really really filthy if I put my mind to it [wank][groin]

F&V today - zilch. nowt. nada. Forgot my carrier bag full of healthy lunch this morning (I am such a classy bird) and so have resorted to what I can scavenge to eat. So far, a bowl of porridge made with water and a Go Ahead yogurt biscuit bar which should have been vile but actually wasn't.

FrannyandZooey · 31/01/2008 18:28

stew: kidney beans, carrots, swede, corn, mushrooms, onions
