For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Zippi DON'T WORRY
I have loads of books here

OverRated your immune system will be helped by all the good stuff, so whatever you get you will throw it off quicker than if you hadn't been eating well [optimistic]

have had banana, pear, orange, raisins (small portions)

A very non F&V day yesterday. Fruit salad (melon, blueberry & pomegranate) with yogurt for breakfast and tomato & lentil soup for lunch. Then got to tea time and realised that what I had earmarked from the freezer for tea had actually been eaten last week so dh had fish & chips and I had ryvita and soft cheese with chives [yawn]. I really must go shopping.

Today - porridge with dried fruit. More soup for lunch. Will buy some veg and cook it in some form for tea [uninspired]

DH is away until late Friday night - he's gone to Morocco to audit a courgette grower. Not very food miles friendly at all . We deliberately mistranslated the name of his hotel from Palais des Roses to "The Pink Palace" . It looks lovely, all Moroccan boudoir with a swimming pool etc, but he will be too busy to enjoy it all properly. Doesn't stop me being though. Shame I can't go with him.

Lullabyloo - I don't think our paths have crossed much but glad you are feeling better . I quite fancy drawing round dd and showing her where all her organs are but not sure she's really old enough to understand that yet.

Must do better today.

pinkspottywellies · 30/01/2008 14:39

Gosh. Apparently 79% of GMTV viewers agree with breastfeeding past the age of 2

Took dd to the docs this morning and she drank a whole beaker of water and ate a breadstick while toddling round the waiting room! She woke up at about 3 this morning so I got in the spare bed with her and she pigged out on milk until morning! I think she's better!

I have eaten cornflakes and a pear and some chocolate. Must do better

MrsCarrot · 30/01/2008 15:32

Yes, and surprise surprise, they didn't run the feature.

FrayedKnot · 30/01/2008 16:37

Hello lovely veggers

Bowl of fruit with goth lips blueberries, carrot, rocket & cucumber salad with extra coleslaw..veg stocks running a bit low, so not sure what to have for supper. Probably something pasta-y.

Yoga was good! My thighs ache and I can feel it round my neck / shoulders too.

Today I took DS to soft play (usually somehwere I avoid) as there is a window of opportunity between 2.30-3.30 when there is virtually no-one else there. So I think I have done my exercise for today as well. We made an island out of big inflatable balls and weren't allowed to touch the floor, had to keep balanced on the balls...good jo there was non-one else there, really

ZippiBabes · 30/01/2008 17:17

HELLO EVERYBODY

FRANNY I HAVE JUST POSTED YOUR BOOKS

FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2008 18:05

evening all

have had first proper big girls veggie meal since being ill - carrots, mushrooms, onions, tofu and kale in a stir fry with noodles

not much else to report except I would like to go bed now please

FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2008 18:08

oh and first delivery of new box scheme came - just a small box of fruit as we have loads left from last week, but it seemed like it was less than we would have got from the other place for the same money [gloom]

ah, but we were looking at how much rubbish we are putting out since getting the composter and it is now only one small bin bag a week [preen]

(you will all now remind me that is terrible but it is good improvement for us)

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2008 18:10

my dear friend puts out TWELVE yes TWELVE every week

she only has 2 kids

she and her dp go round to other people's doorsteps distributing them so no-one will know they have put out 12 bags and come and lynch them

she fancies moving to Sweden but I have told her she would be thrown into jail there I think

OP posts:
FrayedKnot · 30/01/2008 18:12

We also have usually one small bag per week - think it difficult to get below that with plastic packaging, even if you do try and shop in places which don;t use it as much.

TBH sometimes all we have in our bin is plastic - we have no recycling facilities for plastics at all in our borough, not even bottles - neighbouring ones do

ZippiBabes · 30/01/2008 18:13

our council is bringing in wheelie bins and rules very soon..and my dd1 is EXCITED

sher has rung up and ordered us a compost kitchen bin from the council

and can't wait for the green food bin to arrive

and she was so thrilled that she started washing all plastic and putting it in the red bin until i pointed out it was only plastic bottles

FrayedKnot · 30/01/2008 18:13

FGS what is she throwing away

FrayedKnot · 30/01/2008 18:14

Franny's friend, not Zippi's DD

Zippi we are getting kerbside collection as of next month too

ZippiBabes · 30/01/2008 18:15

we can put textiles and shoes i think and plastic bottles papers tins glass containers in the red box and have an extra red bag if you want

and there will be a grey bin for rubbish and the green bin for food
and the small kitchen bin for food too

these bins will take up our entire front garden

fullmoonfiend · 30/01/2008 18:18

ah well, if you lose yur gadren to bins,

you'll need some of these...

FrayedKnot · 30/01/2008 18:18

DS has endearingly laid a trail of rice from the living room to the back door "so he can find his way out of the forest"

The trail seems to lead round in ever decreasing circles

FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2008 18:21

FK I try not to delve too deeply into this
she is a lovely person but the kind of consumer that makes you think "oh fuck it, me not shopping at Primark is going to make NO SODDING DIFFERENCE as there will still be X and her 12 bin bags"

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 30/01/2008 18:23

Our District Council is top in the country for the second year running for recycling [preen] We have separate wheelie bins for compost (including garden waste like small trees, grass cuttings) recycling (and it takes glass, all kinds of plastic, paper, textiles, etc etc can't remember the rest!) and rubbish. We only have about 1 small bag a week (think it's a 12litre bin).

DH says I'm not allowed to go running til at least tomorrow. And he's right. And I hate it when that happens!!! He's been very sensible. He also ate the rest of the chocolate because if I'm not running then I don't want to be eating chocolate, do I ?

I had a pear today and have some peas out for tea.

I got my first CAT today. No-one's ever catted me before! I was quite excited!! Oh and by the way I'm not going to join you guys in a posh hotel for a nice lunch . It's too late to get a very cheap train ticket now and while it's not that dear, I'm going to be sensible. [boring]

MrsC, I sent them an e-mail saying 'I was much looking forwards to that feature and I seem to have missed it. Can you tell me if it's been rescheduled?'

ZippiBabes · 30/01/2008 18:25

lovely bin covers

reminds me of the olden days when you nput fablon on things when they got a bit shabby

i can get 15 quid rail tickets on the same day of travel to go to london am i sepceailly lucky

FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2008 18:26

MrsC it looks like me and you at this meet so far

good to know everyone is still just as keen to meet me now they actually know what I am like

actually if nobody else comes I won't have to bother about small details sharing the scones and getting jam on my chin

hmm

FrannyandZooey · 30/01/2008 18:33
