For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny - try being really shortsighted - they won't make mine at one-hour-places, takes two weeks from Germany!
Zips, I heart Specsavers for reasons just like on your other thread. They are very kind about discounts etc. Mind you I do spend hundreds of pounds a year with them...

fullmoonfiend · 29/01/2008 18:01

Lully, so glad you're still alive, albeit under the weather. We missed you x

IdrisTheDragon · 29/01/2008 18:25

I probably should get some more glasses as am sillily short-sighted. I do wear contact lenses in the day time though.

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 18:26

Lully I remember one of your emails didn't always work too well - not sure which one I just emailed you on, but if you don't get info about our meet up idea please let me know.

same goes for anyone else, I may have old email addresses / lost it or something, if you don't hear from me and you want to, please email

LL! Hello! We've missed you...DS anatomy obsession sounds great and I think I might start a similar project - DS would really go for it I think. Great news about your hair

Franny yes, that's why I chose yoga for an evening class to begin with, surely we will be lying down a lot, no? I'm a bit about venturing into the cold night to a class with lots of strangers - please hold my virtual hands everyone

my AF returned after 7 months and was still feeding day and night I can tell you.

Mind you, it has never behaved itslef, and has been known to take itself off for months at a time pre DS, so normal things don;t apply in my case.

TooT hope your tummy is better today.

FMF how are you doing? Hope you are feeling brighter today.

OverRated · 29/01/2008 18:55

Hello

Am really worn out and it's very gloomy here which is making me feel even more sleepy. I wanted to join DS for a nap but I felt I should do something more productive. So, here I am on MN

He's all snuggled up with his sexcavator now

I've searched all the shops for cream of tartar so we can make playdoh but they don't sell it anywhere so we'll have to use a different recipe.

Apple, carrots, hummous, split pea soup. Oh, I thought I was doing better than this

Hope all poorly people feel better soon. Nice to see Lully and Idris pop in.

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 18:59

"He's all snuggled up with his sexcavator now"

hmm indeed

do you want us to post you some cream of tartar? I wonder if it is called something different over there?

OP posts:
OverRated · 29/01/2008 19:11

I wondered that too, Franny - I'll email my local parenting group to see if they know what it is. Failing that, I'll get my sister to send some. Thanks for the offer.

I did try correcting DS but he insisted, "No mummy, not excavator, iss sexcavator" It is better than his loud requests for snacks when we are out shopping. "More sex mummy. MORE SEX" Cue lots of frantic and loud responses from me, "Oh, you would like a SNACK, darling. A SNACK. Let's see if we can find a SNACK. Where did I put our SNACK...""

fullmoonfiend · 29/01/2008 19:38

PMSL!

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 20:31

LOL reminds me of HC's dd when she was little and walked past the chickens near their house

"Look Mummy COCK! BIG Daddy COCK!"

have looked up cream of tartar and it does feature in US recipes as far as I can see, so am stumped

happy to post you some, it weighs nothing

lol

i have told this on mn before but we were en famille in a mediterranean port..majorca i think or ibiza...and the motor yachts were moored up..the huge expensive ones...particularly ott one with some people having a drink

we stroll past them and ds (dyslexic not a good reader) stops in his tracks and says in particularly high pitched and resonating tones

why is that boat called penis from heaven

pinkspottywellies · 29/01/2008 20:55

You people always make me laugh. Love 'SNACKS' and 'do you know who I AM'!! Lovely to hear from you Lully, I suddenly thought about you at 6o'clock one morning last week! TooT I read 'Was it a cold night' and had to scroll back - I'd forgotten I shared that little story . It wasn't too freezing (Norfolk in Sept) but my mum and stepdad were in the next room luckily there was an empty room where I could get a blanket but it took me a while to figure that out when I'd woken up properly!

Eaten very little again today! DD is still being sick so have her booked in with the doctor in the morning. She's kept breakfast down the last 2 days but nothing else really. DH has got the lurgy now too. Well last night and earlier on but now he's on the sofa shouting at xBox live as usual

Will let you know about the meet up. I've not been running yet. Today would have been ok but now I have Missed One. I'm cross. I had to miss work tonight too - I phoned up really last minute because dd threw up down my trousers and I didn't and I couldn't leave it to dh. I don't suppose my young offender will mind though!!

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 21:23

Ok I have eaten today:

banana, melon, raisins, 2 satsumas, baked beans, leeks, mushrooms

could be worse

we are claiming for my glasses on the house insurance as it is for once worth paying the excess - anyone any experience of this, how much they are likely to pay out, etc?

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 29/01/2008 21:35

We've claimed twice on our house insurance - once for a burglary (about 7 years ago) and a year ago where a huge candle spilt wax all over the carpet. Both times they've replaced what we lost, organised everything for us and been pretty fab. I would hope they'll have a particular company they deal with so they'll send you to them and they sort it all out with the insurance company. Hope it goes smoothly! Oh just realised you've already done it - have you? Just send them receipts then perhaps?

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 21:46

I have made claim with insurers and they say the underwriters will be in touch

i just felt very sceptical that they will pay the full bill - I mean even after the excess

this was a scary amount (I chose a decent pair of frames, have to get extra thin ones because of crap vision, plus had to pay through the nose to get 1 hour service - I have to work tomorrow and couldn't see a ruddy thing!)

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 29/01/2008 22:00

Nice to hear from you, Lully

I have had butternut squash and lemon thyme rissoto with tomato and rocket salad. Lunch was vegi sushi and tuna salad.

I bought one of those protein bounce balls today - it's a bit odd, like someone has squished a load of rice krispies up with some sticky stuff and charged nearly two quid for it.

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 22:06

mmmmmmmm

you are really tempting me MrsC

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 29/01/2008 22:09

There are spirulina versions if you are that way inclined, mind you, you can't have that one. Nor can I, it has gingseng in.

This one was called an almond protein ball and it was odd. I ate it all though.

TooTicky · 29/01/2008 22:25

I once tried leaf curd. It was dense and green and odd.

pinkspottywellies · 29/01/2008 22:27

Has everyone seen the GMTV thread? I saw you on there Franny but MrsC, TooT? It's a vote about whether one agree's with people breastfeeding children over 2!!

TooTicky · 29/01/2008 22:33

Where? Where?

pinkspottywellies · 29/01/2008 22:37

There! There!!

TooTicky · 29/01/2008 22:41

Done it
Haven't read thread though - it's too long!

ZippiBabes · 29/01/2008 22:42

er franny i still havent sent your parcel but wil demain

OverRated · 29/01/2008 23:41

Oh, I voted on that too.

It turns out that cream of tartar is not found with the baking stuff here but with the spices so I shall nip out this week and get some.

Am feeling rather crap tonight- been achy (I wanted to write achey but my spell chceker said it was wrong) all day and now have temperature and my skin feels all prickly. Why, when I am making a big effort to eat better, am I ill?
