For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

i have done brilliantly well today

to return to breakfast i had

a large prtion of mixed summer berries and oats and grsnola

i had herbal teas all day

and banana satsuma and another banana

and a whole red pepper a porobello mushroom sweet potato carrots cauliflour and purple sprouting broccoli

and a small glass of mango and orange juice

that must be ten surely

and i am going to start a style thread as i have said yes i will go and see a japanese punk/pop/rock band who look mad

FrayedKnot · 28/01/2008 20:40

Zippi must get the badge this week surely?

Franny that sounds really terrible, apart from anything else you msut be dreadfully tired (and DP)..was it a bug? Glad you are OK & baby too.

Pink hope you are also feeling lots better today.

TooT - I have much sympathy for anyone with period pain because I have endometriosis and although (touchwood) I am not having symptoms at the moment, in the past it has been very bad. Would a bath or a heat pad help soothe it?

Have had a bowl of fruit, salad & hoummous for lunch, and parsnip and celery risotto for supper (was a bit of a last minute thing )

DS fell asleep in the car on the way home from town and when I brought him in, woke briefly then fell asleep on my lap, so I fell asleep as well, and when we woke up it was tea time

Have there been any more musings about meeting up?

TigerFeet · 28/01/2008 21:58

Oh Franny that sounds awful but funny

Total pita about the glasses - thankfully I don't wear them dd broke hers the other day, she was running about at nursery and they fell off and some little bleeder other child trod on them. Totally mangled. Thankfully the lenses didn't break and we got the frames replaced - took them about 15 minutes. All free too - hurrah for the much-maligned NHS. We have also ordered a second pair in case of future accidents. Yet to go back and pick them up though . Hope you can stop squinting soon

Toot I get backache too when I am on, but only since dd was born. Used to be where one would expect it to be. [passes hot water bottle]

This week's soup is tomato & lentil. Made a massive pot yesterday, enough to last for lunches all week. I have done this for the last three weeks, and am just starting to get bored of it when it runs out and I make a new one for the following week. It's one of my better creations I have to admit.

SO today...
porridge with dried fruit
large bowl of above soup
3 small apples
3 clementines
fruit salad of pomegranate, blueberries and melon
tea was a very un-10/10 spaghetti carbonara which had had a couple of mushrooms waved near it.

Franny, when you talked about the nightmarish place and struggling to get back it reminded me of something but I can't remember what. I feel slightly freaked.
Is your bum behaving now?

TooTicky · 28/01/2008 22:39

Baths make me feel too vulnerable FK, I just want to curl up in a ball. But warmth is good.

TooTicky · 28/01/2008 22:41

Pink, was it a cold night?
You mad fool!!!!!!

TooTicky · 28/01/2008 22:41

I am posting very bittily tonight. I think I will go to bed.

TooTicky · 28/01/2008 22:43

MrsC, I think my periods came back when dd2 was 1.5ish. I can't remember about the others.

TooTicky · 28/01/2008 22:45

Oh, before I go...
dd2 is going through a very nurturing phase. This evening, her baby of choice was a plastic ride-on car. She fed it lots of (pretend) chocolate, nursed it through several headaches, held it lovingly on her lap and even bf it

I'm off now.

TigerFeet · 28/01/2008 23:47

Night night TooT

ZippiBabes · 28/01/2008 23:50

and now i have had a pear

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 08:03

morning

have had an almost normal size breakfast which was possibly foolhardy but I was hungry. Had v little to eat yesterday and doctor said don't eat any vegetables for a fe days I wanted to say "do you know who I AM?"

dp has gone to work to pick some papers up. Unfortunately this will take him 4 hours . I said why couldn't they post them but I think he is desperate to get away

Hope you are feeling better now TooT and sorry to freak you - I am sure it is a pretty common dream / drug experience so most people would probably relate to it in some way. Blacking out was fine as I didn't know anything about it, but coming round was nasty. My bottom is fine now and my face is even ok! The bad bruise and cut is hidden by my hair, and the other one on my cheek which looked like it was going to leave a corking bruise has gone - was just a red mark. I just have a slightly cut lip and a bashed tooth which hurts when I breathe in oold air. I told dp about it this morning and hesaid "oh fgs cold AIR", but I knew you lot would be sympathetic

I am on the case with meet up and will post ;later when can see without Mr Magooing. Have told ds he has to be my guide dog when we go to nursery - he is in heaven

i am knackered i am hoping my dead alcholic neighbours estranged alcoholic husband has not moved back in next door but i fear he has..there was some sort of noisy and alterntely joly and aggressive sounding get to gether there last night which seemed to be at least partly outside or with door s open and i really cant bear the thought

it sounds nasty i know but i have had too much of them and had hoped it would get sold to some ok people..

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 10:36

zippi I don't think it sounds awful - unpredictable disruptive neighbours are awful!

right MEET UP V IMPORTANT MEET UP*

MrsC and I have decided to make it simple and just [plump for a date we could both do, so we are going to meet up at a posho hotel for afternoon tea on Sunday 24th Feb. I am staying overnight on the Sunday at Travelodge, I think MrsC is going back the same day. If anyone else wants to join us for any of this, please email me at frannyandzooey at india dot com

I will also email people who have been around lately and whose emails I have, just in case they miss this

this is very informal short notice meet up but I hope people might be able to come - I know several of you can't - i also know TooT is planning to organise something a bit more child friendly and sensibly budgeted in near future, so hopefully at least 2 meet ups, hurrah!

lullabyloo · 29/01/2008 16:02

hello my lovely ones

sorry havn't been about much for ages
life is just generally crap at the moment
Ds & I are unwell again,he has fallen asleep in my bed for a bit so thought I'd pop in wave at you all.

Have only skimmed the thread briefly, but sorry to hear lots of you are under the weather.
I detest January more & more each year..it is a grim month indeed.
Franny my lovely..you poor thing..how horrid..coming your way

fmv thankyou for emailing...I wrote a lengthy reply & then scrapped it as it was so gloomy!

My hair is growing back ..I look most peculiar with short fuzzy bits growing underneath the remaining long bits & lots of it is grey ...but as long as it grows I dont care if it's green & frizzy really.
Dh is away staying in a posh hotel in Scotland,ds is very put out that he isn.t in on such a treat.I know how he feels
Ds is into anatomy in a big way & has bamboozled a wonderful pop up body book with beating heart & a skeleton model out of me.When anyone is eating he takes great pleasure in in informing them how their digestive system works & what will eventually become of their food.'My bladder is full'is a phrase he finds particularly pleasing.
We had to draw around him on some lining paper & paint in all his organs...it's looking more & more like a Biology class in here ...still..beats Thomas I guess

TooTicky · 29/01/2008 16:10

Oh Lully, hooray! Wonderful to hear from you!!!
Sorry you and ds are still suffering though.
His interest in anatomy sounds great fun.
Ds2 is interested in poo and sewers atm.

lullabyloo · 29/01/2008 16:31

lol Toot
The whole 6hr digestive cycle fascinates ds
especially seeing the resulting purple poo after consuming copious amounts of beetroot soup !

FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 17:18

hello Lully! love to hear your news and ds's delight in the shady workings of our bodies

FK I am sure you can slack off on the yoga -most of it is just lying down anyway - if challenged you can just say you had reached a particularly spiritually enlightening bit and needed to ponder it some more

zippi don't panic about parcel, have just received belated Christmas parcel full of books and also found a load of stuff I want to reread

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 29/01/2008 17:19

oh I have new glasses

EVERYBODY WHO WEARS GLASSES AND HASN'T A SPARE PAIR GO AND GET SOME NOW FROM SOMEWHERE CHEAP

because the price at those 1 hour places is really appallingly bad

OP posts:
ZippiBabes · 29/01/2008 17:21

LL nice to hear from you, sorry to hear that you are really ill though..

the days are starting to get longer at least..

Tatties · 29/01/2008 17:58

Oh dear dear lots of people feeling rough and more hugs to anyone who wants them

Hope you are all feeling better soon.

Good to see you Lully

Franny you poor thing, it makes me cringe to think of you cutting yourself on broken glasses

MrsC, my period returned the day after ds's first birthday, and he was still very much feeding day and night (still is LOL)
Make the most of it! I would gladly be rid of the whole blimmin' cycle

Oh and MrsC check your email
