For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I haven't eaten or exercised today just about to have some tomato soup and bread. dd and I have been sick since last night I stayed in bed til about 4 this afternoon.

FK I got my sports bra from Bravissimo and I wear an aerobics type crop top over it!

Haven't read the rest of the thread - anything important to update me on?

OverRated · 27/01/2008 20:19

Oh no PSW, hope you both feel better soon.

Did you find a better film, zippi?

I accidentally bought a cunting mango yesterday but haven't been brave enough to try it. I think I'll let DS investigate. He is more tolerant of dodgy fruit than I am.

ZippiBabes · 27/01/2008 20:42

OverRated · 27/01/2008 20:52

TigerFeet · 27/01/2008 21:41

god I am so glad my studenting days are long gone... I really don't have enough brain cells or willpower left to be doing assignments in my own time any more.

PSW hope you are on the mend now

today - more banana & blueberry smoothie, more watercress & potato soup and pasta with a tomatoey mushroomey sauce. Fruit salad made of melon, pomegranate and blueberries.

DH is now chucking chocolate at me from the other end of the sofa

OverRated · 27/01/2008 22:31

Tomatoes, juice, apple. Hmm, not great so far but I have actually been quite productive:

Had much needed lie-in (ok, so not productive, but nice)
Made Split pea soup, dough for freezer and a pizza
Did 2 tax forms
Wrote 2 important letters which I had been putting off
Cleaned kitchen
Tried to salvage friendship but failed miserably, I think.
Sort of semi meal planned

Might make muffins later.

MrsCarrot · 28/01/2008 08:28

Get well soon, PSW

I am not mananging any fruit at breakfast at the moment, I just don't fancy it. All I want is toast with peanut butter and marmite. Considering how much I am craving sugar and carbs I think I might have something candidary.

Toot - I can't not have anything in the house, they need stuff for their lunchboxes and I don't mind them having a biscuit. Anyway, like you, if I haven't got anything I will often make it.

MrsCarrot · 28/01/2008 08:28

one blueberry

ZippiBabes · 28/01/2008 08:31

big portion of berries and oats and granola

what i am doing here im not sure as i have to be out of the house in half an hour and havent been in the hsower yet

i am always late especially on monday am

usually get stuck behind a tracotr next

MrsCarrot · 28/01/2008 13:52

huge bowl of tomato, pepper and fennel soup that was delicious but had so much garlic in I fear I will be clearing a space in the playground shortly.

Thank goodness for soup in this weather. It is misty and damp here.

TooTicky · 28/01/2008 13:58

That soup sounds delish MrsC.

I have the worst period pains I've had in ages. It's actually making me walk doubled up. Does anybody else get all the pain in their back? That's where I always got labour pain too and the midwives were always a bit sceptical about it, so I suppose it must be weird.
Also, my cold won't leave and I am shivery with random aches.
Sorry I am a whingy, miserable sod.

Hope you're feeling better Pink.

MrsCarrot · 28/01/2008 14:30

Poor you, Toot. I used to get dreadful backache too so I know how you feel, though it's getting on for two years since I've had one.

What's the longest it's stayed away for anyone? I assume extended bf doesn't mean that cycles won't resume, or does it if you are still feeding day and night? I thought it was coming last month but it didn't amount to anything. Not that I miss them of course but with DD she only had a bedtime feed at this age and not for much longer either. DS2 is quite happy to carry on snacking and makes no bones about headbutting my chest and yanking at my clothes while grunting- mmmmmph, mmmmph and then points and says, look.

FrannyandZooey · 28/01/2008 15:38

ooh I have been ill. I managed to black out and fall off the toilet in middle of night during attack of diarrhoea - not once but 5 times. Poor ruddy dp, LOLOL in hindsight it is v funny but at time just confusing and awful. He kept hearing big crash and walk in to find me unconscious on floor, or semi conscious and rambling. V undignified. I bashed my face several times by falling head first onto it and look as if Bill Sykes has been at me. Also broke glasses and cut face by falling on them so am squinting at screen like Mr Magoo

have been to gp to check if baby is ok and all well. Feeling much better now just bashed about and mortifyingly grateful to dp who ended up having to accompany me and hold me up at times when we both would rather have had privacy he says good job I am pg as is never coming near me again

OP posts:
pinkspottywellies · 28/01/2008 15:46

Thanks everyone. We're much better today. DD's had somme breakfast and lunch and loads of sleep.

Sorry Franny but your little story made me chuckle (when I knew you and bump were ok of course!)

Hope you feel better TooT.

MrsCarrot · 28/01/2008 16:38

oH no, Franny, how awful. Why did you pass out though, was your blood pressure a bit low as you're pregnant maybe? LOL at dp being closer than you'd like at sucha time!

Glad you're on the mend PSW.

fullmoonfiend · 28/01/2008 16:51

Franny, how awful sweetling!
Are you ok?

(wonders if dh would ever wake up in an emeregncy...)

TooTicky · 28/01/2008 17:02

Franny, you poor thing!! I hope your bruises go Very Quickly Indeed.

Glad you're feeling better Pink.

When I was pg with ds1 I fainted towards dd1 who was eating a boiled egg in her high chair. For a long time after that, whenever she had a boiled egg, she'd say, "You're not going to knock me over again, are you Mummy?" Dp reminds me of this every so often, just to make me feel awful

pinkspottywellies · 28/01/2008 17:54

Oh no everyone else has been all Kind and Thoughtful and I just chuckled!! I did think all the nice things too but it's the way you tell it Franny!!

ZippiBabes · 28/01/2008 17:56

oh i am sorry franny that sounds horrible ..hope you are feeling better

i havent posted your parcel yet i am afraid

FrannyandZooey · 28/01/2008 18:10

oh no PSW just like you we have been LOL about it most of theday - as you say once we found out everything is ok there were too many funny aspects not to

MrsC i sometimes have low blood prrssure anyway, and he said that the dehydration, gettng up suddenly in the nihght and being pg would all make it drop right down. It got worse as when dp came to the toilet with me and saw me pass out, he said it was more like a fit that I went all rigid and teeth grindy and my eyes were rolling and stuff - this was when I decided to see doctor- but the gp was not worried, he said I just blacked out. It was horrid at the time though - I felt like I was going to some nightmarish dark place each time and struggling to get out back to reality - very vivid and seemed to go on for ages even though dp said it was lessthan a minute each time

trust me to break my fricking glassses into the bargain! every time I do it I SWEAR I will gte a spare pair but never get round to it. I can get them done in an hour tomorrow if am well enough to go in -- they could have just made up new ones from my prescrip but it had just expired - arse and damn.

dp woke up because there was an almighty crash! 11 stone of pg lady dropping off the loo makes quite a noice I think

Hope you and small Pink are both better PSW

Sounds like poppers

OverRated · 28/01/2008 18:33

Gosh, Franny - passing out on the toilet isn't good - hope your bruises disappear soon - I imagine explaining them could be quite interesting!

It's a long time since I've had period pains like that, Toot but I do sympathise.

My Do Nothing school of Potty Training progressed today to DS wearing proper pants when we went out. He often wears them at home but I've never been brave enough to risk it elsewhere but he was fab and didn't have an accident!
