For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooT - we did get the trousers and I did email (forgot for a while but found it was sent ).

Yesterday when I picked DS and DD up, DD was wearing one of the pairs of trousers (khaki ish with embroidery). She looked very lovely .

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2008 16:36

I also thought the same thing

filthymindedvixen · 17/01/2008 17:28

Iklboo - spicy puy lentils goes beautifully with fish...

(puy lentils cooked with a little of cumin, corriander, ginger, garlic, cayenne salt and pepper)

filthymindedvixen · 17/01/2008 17:31

(I want to say so much to so many of you. But It seems that whenever I have time to be on here, the thread has moved on a lot. So I just ed up replying to one person. randomly!!)

ahundredtimes · 17/01/2008 17:34

Broccoli - it is for your 24 y-o brother? Oh. I don't think he needs a healthy eating cook book does he? Doesn't he just need a good basic cook book. Like Delia or something?

I have emo spotted in Bath. I am jealous you know Emos Franny, I wish I did. They all look so pale and sad.

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2008 17:48

nono I think they are quite happy and carefree really (the ones I know are anyway) probably because they are free to express their inner angst whenever they want to, and they get hugged a lot

tbh i suspect they are Emo lite I found it very funny a few years ago because one of them was telling me what her favourite bands were and I said "well i don't know any of them, but are they emo bands?" and she literally gasped and said "how do YOU know about emo??"

I didn't have the heart to tell her the Guardian had been running articles on her and her friend's secret gang for about 18 months

Hey Franny, perhaps you should let Broccoli's brother have your, you know, your document?

Zippi · 17/01/2008 17:52

my dd likes that jamie oliver book

onebatmother · 17/01/2008 17:58

there's a ... Document?

TigerFeet · 17/01/2008 18:00

dsis is emo - she had a wonky fringe but it got on her nerves so she made me straighten it for her . Thankfully she looks gorgeous with loads of eyeliner.

Not such a good f&v day today but am having a mahoosive carrot & courgette salad for tea

fullmoonunit · 17/01/2008 18:10

I have had melon, banana and veggie pizza. Don't know what to have to tea as dh is away this week (chasing work) and I am faced with beans on toast or spinach. Beans and spinach on toast?

Zippi · 17/01/2008 18:17

fmv i hope u r going to get told off by pour leader for changing ur name

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2008 18:23

zippi you know full well I just ignore FMF's dalliances and call her FMF whatever

100 if he is struggling with 5 a day don't you think The Document is a little HARDCORE for him?

just had fabulous stew and dumplings. It was so good. Can someone tell me though, you know the portion table in the link in the OP (and yes, I probably should have considered this before), well when it says heaped tablespoon, does it mean a tbsp as in the unit of measurememnt (not very big) or as in an ordinary metal spoon (could be quite big). Because I just can't believe that 3 heaped tbsp of the measurement unit type make one portion of things.

Our kettle still tastes of plastic. Dp evilly pretending he can't notice it.

Just popping in to say fab title (again).

real life is busy a the moment, so I have to concentrate on that!!!

But can I tell you all about dd2 who has finally stopped wearign a nappy to bed. Gulp.
And she had her measles booster today, and di scream (obviously). And afterwards I said she could choose s treat, and she chose the most ginormous scone with cream and strawberries n it. And ate nearlt all of it.

Jsu had a bowl of fresh pineapple, so delicious.

onebatmother · 17/01/2008 18:32

franny, I have noticed that a tablespoon in my lovely ma's day was more like a serving spoon ie pretty damn big. And these days it's shrunk, to 15 ludicrous mls.

What is The Document?

Zippi · 17/01/2008 18:33

i thought the document was baout treasure baskets

ahundredtimes · 17/01/2008 18:40

Zippi, it is my understanding that there are a number of documents, some more secretive than others.

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2008 18:41

Onebat, exactly. My mum's tablespoons were BIG, I mean, 3 heaped servings of those and you would have a major portion of veg on your plate. 3 heaped unit tbsps is just puny.

Zippi, there are TWO documents. Do i look like a woman who would have just one document? I think not.

Onebat you will have to complete the secret initiation rite before I can tell you. Do you have a live goat handy?

OP posts:
Zippi · 17/01/2008 18:44

these dociments are only allowed to people with ababies i expect which is why they are secret from me

still of course not a good enough reason to have a baby specially

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2008 18:45

zippi it is more to do with saucepans than babies. How big are your pans?

OP posts:
TigerFeet · 17/01/2008 18:45

I've never read The Document (although I have got the wnaky basket one)

onebatmother · 17/01/2008 18:50
Zippi · 17/01/2008 18:51

oh yes sausepans

FrannyandZooey · 17/01/2008 18:58

ok anyone with a goat big saucepan and some lsd room in their freezer can email me for a really thrilling document about bulk cooking

I am a lazy cook but I like to eat home cooked stuff. So I worked out a way you can cook once every 3 weeks and still give your family a proper dinner every night. It works, if you can be arsed to do it.
